trying not to be cynical, but what is the bet that SR1 does not get released before the 30 days are up for the early adopters?

UK Sales of Goods Act is not applicable here if you bought it as a download from Smith Micro or a Disc from Smith Micro. only applies to goods purchased in UK.
software also comes under its own rules, downloads have no rules applied to them. packaged software, i believe, relies on whether the data is corrupted ( bad disc).
and because of the millions of different hardware configs, you cannot say that a program is 'unfit for use' if it runs on most configurations, and just won't work that well on a particular system.
sorry you are having problems.

if you want to use the alpha channel for compositing, you must save the image as either .tif or .png format. bmp or .jpeg do not have an alpha channel.

so people who are not MIT grads are 'intellectually inferior'? WOW! ( yes i shouted )
what an attitude, and what an ego!
boy, am i glad i don't need any help with Poser ( 'cos i don't use it ).
at least when i need help with my app, the people i deal with are inherently helpful ( and they can get their egos through doorways ).i have never come across anyone as condescending, arrogant and rude, over there.

it is generally accepted that all caps is shouting. to emphasize a word or statement, the normal thing is to use bold,  italic or to underline.

i use DS3A , and i try to get as close to photographic realism as possible in some character studies, but i do not think that a reasonably low-end rendering system like Poser OR DS3 can hope to get the same quality of 'realism' as those very high end softwares used on major workstations and more to the point, huge renderfarms.
BUT, both can do a very good job with a combination of HQ textures, shaders and a good light rig.
again, BUT, we have to expect very long render times.
a friend of mine is working on some Disney animation stuff and even with her software and VERY high end workstation, a single frame can take quite a few hours to render out.

you can use the Poser figures in Studio, but the newest ones that came with Poser 8 have slightly different rigging so may behave a bit off when posing. nothing that a little tweaking won't cure.
the textures may need a little tweak in the surface tab as well.

try this one, pjz99. this was recommended to me by several people who do a lot of .cr2 editing

building by components is great, but all components and their tolerances MUST be built from the same masterplan of the proposed product to integrate into the whole as a finished product.
you would not fit a Honda Civic head to a Ford Taurus engine and expect it to run properly if at all, would you?
the same principle applies to software.
a library, in effect, is a database. not an internet browser .
correct me if i'm wrong, but Python has been practically a full part of Poser from early days, so would be easy to update by people who have full access to the code of Poser itself.
integrating code from an application that is totally different must have been a nightmare for anyone who did it, especially when they had no access to the core code of the product they were trying to get it to work with.
besides, Python is a scripting language, not an application( program)
btw did i have a go at anyone or any particular company? no.
i just made a general comment, not aimed at any program or person or company.
so there really was no reason to come back with a snide and totally uncalled for tone.

this is what happens when you use third party software as an integral part of another app.
my only bugbear with DS3A and all versions prior is that it relies on MS's C++ Runtime to work.
it works for the majority, but those it does not work for have to put up with faffing around with their entire library of user alterable settings, sometimes to no avail.
i fear these problems will become far commoner as software houses try to cut costs by purchasing 'over the counter'Â code to do a job, instead of employing programmers to write and develop the code that would work best with their new apps.
BB seems to have done a great job of his part of the new version, but think how much he could have done if he had access to the core code of Poser. he would have been able to see exactly how his coding interacted with the core code of the app.
Thread: Dimension3D's Morph Clothes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
you can also transfer movement morphs with it as well.
for instance a kilt did not have the right morphs for a pose, i just added the needed morphs from the MFD. as long as the rigging is similar enough, i think you can do this with all sorts of outfits.

if you are a total newbie, forget making a multi runtime Poser set-up. if you study this tutorial and use the Content Manager. life will be far simpler.forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php
for future reference, when you 'unzip' the files, don't unzip to any old where. when it asks you where to unzip the file, point it to ROOT( which disc and where you have installed DS) DazDAZ3 content if you are using Vista as your OS, DS3 will install the Content folder in Documents by default and it would probably be best to install all new content to that folder.
if you use the Content Manager, you will only need 1 runtime.
the Content Manager allows you to organise your content any way you like without moving it about on your drive
