Thread: PPANN ...and body parts we need! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Muir's law: When we try to separate anything out by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe.
Taking a conversation from nose hairs to blackholes pretty much confirms it for me.

The camera angle is a little tighter on the first one and the bottom one has slightly brighter lights it seems. At least the luminance constrast is more pronounced on the stones in the ground. Other than that they're almost identical.

A new tutorial at DAZ Arcana shows how to make a body suit from an existing mesh. It works better than the technique I was working on. http://arcana.daz3d.com/index.php?id=696

Yes it is possible. I did it with SP3, but there are some 'gotchas' to watch out for, so I'll have to do it again with these in mind. When I get it working I plan to post a tutorial.
For now though just remeber you might want to load the spandex morphs and then export from there, since deleting body parts messes up the vertex offsets and none of the morphs will work. Most of them can be 'Tailored' back in, but the 'navel gone' and 'nipple gone' morphs weren't smooth enough.
BTW, I saved a set of UV's with group information in UVMapper immediately after export so I could reapply those after my scaling operations. This way my 'Second Skin' textures still work on the new piece of clothing, and actually have some depth. Good luck.

geep, I saw your panel in another thread but forgot to come back here with a 'nevermind'. I too like the silliness, I'm just not always sure how to respond. :) EnglishBob, winding order is generally used to compute the normal. I suspect Poser ignores them and generates it's own so it can do the phong shading interpolation smoothly across group boundaries, ignoring (potentially) duplicate vertices, where other programs would normally show a seam. One exception of course is in importing .dxf files. They always have seams on every face, or look faceted, if you prefer.

So much silliness here, I'm afraid to answer. If that's a serious question I really have a mostly correct answer. Do you want it?

Thanks Ajax. That's exactly what I mean. And you're right about the cylinder not being necessary, I just find it more convenient than say. . . two spheres; one behind the subject and one in front. I just orient the cylinder lengthwise along the camera's line of sight, and then parent it to the camera. If I want to dim the bright/near parts I move it closer to the camera. If I want to brighten the dark/far parts of my subject, I move it away. And if I want to do both I move the cylinder closer to the camera and then scale it to extend past my subject. compiler, or anybody reading for that matter, if you need more explanation let me know and I'll post some more illustrations. P.S. I feel for you; my cable was out for three days this week. I'm still playing catch-up.

I've used PSP since v 1 or 2 when it was little more than a file format conversion utility for Win 3.1 and I've been a fan ever since, although I haven't upgraded to v8 yet. After reading and trying tons of Photoshop tutorials on the web, I've only found a few things I can't do: PS 7's new brushes (scatter, etc.), displacement warp filter, and stroke path. Everything else has a way to do it, although there may be an extra step or two. For example light effects are apparently better in PS as they produce a shaded effect whereas I have to do a separate mask/dropshadow step to get the effect in PSP. Also PSP brushes are limited in size to 256x256, but greyscale tube brushes and layers can get you the desired effect.

FyreSpyrit has a couple of excellent tutorials and DAZ Arcana on making mannequins for tailor and Joint Parameter pose files to improve the fit. The mannequins are quick, simple and effective, essentially detailing EnglishBob's method.
You might have a look to see if they simplify things for you.
