I did this after picking up the idea from a post a little while ago. I too have Poser 7 on the C drive and Poser Content and Poser Download folders on the external J drive. Has worked a treat so far.
But when I started the machine up this morning, Poser 7 has deleted all my Runtimes that are placed on the external J drive from the Library.
Any ideas why?
Thread: Native American characters and artefacts? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Googling Powhatan gives excellent results (too good, I spent hours following the site and links!)
Thank you all again, and apologies for being slow with this, been away for a few days.

Looked at the Smithsonian and Googled Catlin and Bodmer  - brought up some outstanding images.
Any other notable artists or recorders of the Eastern peoples, or those of the South-West?
Thread: Morph target-all part deforms, not just altered vertex-why? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you both.
I had indeed fiddled with the scaling on import.Â
I also noticed when I went throught the "Do it again, you fool, and get it right this time" routine that in export the 'morph target-no world transformations' box was unchecked. Checked it, went through everything again and it worked properly.
I had set the other morph to zero before, to see what the original looked like. It did not occur to me that I might be altering already altered geometry. Will remember the point in future.
"While you're here......."Â (dreaded words in my job)Â Â
is it right that the Morphing Tool only works on one part at a time?Â
Is there a way to alter an area that overlaps 2 parts or groups?Â
How do you select 1 vertex and move it without it jumping all over the place or moving itself to a different vertex and moving that even though all the surrounding vertices were Pinned? (is this a mouse problem; is it just my hands shake....)Â

Thank you everybody, I have enough to make a start.
2 further queries - is a  'rather high-cheeked Asiatic' the facial shape to start with when trying character modelling?
Also what is the correct or closest acceptable skin texture for a character - I assume the old Hollywood 'Red Indian' is a myth.Â
Being from Northern England, I have no first hand knowledge of this area.
It would be interesting to hear from a member of the ethnic group who is also a 3D modeller or artist, what textures they use or how they portray this

When you mentioned other versionsof the sword .obj, I looked back at the versions of the shorts as well, and realised the one which textured properly was a one-piece object and the failures were 2-piece - sure enough the sword has 3 parts, each named.Â
Poser imports all bits of the sword as one thing ; UVMapper won't map and save the 3 parts as one thing, but it will do so for each individual part if they are seperated, selected and assigned. It hadn't actually failed, there was nothing it recognised so it saved "nothing" to the .obj.
It looks as if its ok now (with a tweak or 2)
Thanks ockham, it's dead useful to talk on the forum. So often it nudges your thoughts in the right direction.

Neither of those ideas work, though your point about several .obj files was valid.Â
It led me to clear out and start again and I found that it is a UVMapper failure - going through the process, Poser will accept the texture map produced as .bmp (or .jpeg) and happily apply it to any other prop or figure in the runtime. But any texture you pick fails to apply to the sword.
The logical conclusion is that UVMapper is not mapping and/or saving anything to the .obj, even though it implies it is - no error message, freeze or anything.
I will go to that part of the forum and see if anyone there can find my mistake
Thread: ground doesn't show up in render | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sopt on, VL, many thanks.Â
I knew somebody would know it. Membership of a forum like this is worth 10 manuals
Thread: Sketch Designer/different renders | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Got it, many thanks.Â
Even off a quick look before work, picked up 1 point I hadn't thought of, that lighting affects the sketch design and render as it does the full one
Thread: collision detection failure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks.
Good point about applying collision detection as little as possible, will do that.
Perhaps it is possible to apply c d to parts only - 2 figures shaking hands, enable c d hands only, pose it, turn c d off and lock the actors and go on to the rest of the work
Thread: NewJudy/Anan questions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Searches on Rosity and elsewhere on 'NewJudy' come up 'not found' ; click on AnAnR2 on Yamato's site come up 'blocked', 'not found' or 'system error'
Any ideas why?
