I've had Poser 8 for a couple of days now and it everything seemed pretty honky-dory until it started to give me error dialogs and bombs me back to Windows. It won't even start up now- all I get is the error saying that "something happened" at it needs to close.
In fact, the error pops up twice, which kind of leads me to believe that it might be an issue with the FFrender.exe, which I set up to run in a separate process (two of them, in fact).
Anyone know of a work around?
Thread: OT: LCD pixels stuck on? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I have two vertical columns of pixels stuck on and it's annoying. They're yellow so they're missing their blue (?) component. Has anyone had such a problem? Is there a fix other than taking it in or applying explosives?
Though it really shouldn't matter I'm on an Intel Imac which drives a second monitor; the second monitor does not have the artifact. This is a really sore spot in an otherwise enjoyable computing environment. Thanks in advance.
You're suffering from a dreaded case of "dead pixels", where individual pixels simply cease to operate after a certain amount of time. It's the bane of everything LCD and has been a problem ever since LCD displays have been on the market.
Most manufacturers won't even bother to perform warranty service on a small number of dead pixels (less than six or so, that is0. If the problem is more severe -like if whole rows of columns of pixels go out- then you might be able to get some luvin' on the warranty front.
There are supposedly a couple of "home-brew" fixes out there on the web, but they aren't official nor are they even proven to work.
Do a Google search for "dead pixels" for more information.

Quote - I agree with Joelgaine. The crease should be at navel-level.
Then again.. Women divide at that point. Not sure about men. They just tend to get one large potbelly ;)
Don't ask me how I know.
Anyway he looks awesome! I love that more and more "non-model" people are coming for Poser!
And just HOW do you know, TG? LOL

About the only thing I bought from CompUSA was some lame computer tool kit with screwdriver, bits, tweezers, pliers, and a bunch of other knick-knacks. The case had "CompUSA" in recessed lettering on it, too.
I got it about a day before the place finally went belly-up. It was also about the only thing you COULD get a deal on (got it for five bucks)- all the GOOD merch had been shipped to some liquidation house or were sold to other retailers.
Thread: Seeking Battle Armor or Exo Suit for Sci-fi Themed Project | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you aren't particular about what figure you want to use for your armor, you can try www.sixus1.com. They've got a battle armor-like costume for "HIM", one of their custom-made human male figures. Better yet is the fact that "HIM" and the battle armor suit are both free at their site, as well as a number of other figures.

No go with the updates here. And mine's an SE version, as well.
I mean... couldn't they have put up a copy for download at their other Rendo-like site (won't put the name of the place here, but its first letters are "C" and "P")? I've never had any trouble getting updates using that method.
Something's obviously FUBAR at the Smith Micro site.
Thread: Thinking I might finally buy V4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Doctor---where would I get that magazine?
Thanks guys.
Like Plutom said, the issue is due to show up on American shores in a week or two. You should be able to get it at your local Barnes and Noble bookstore, or at a magazine stand that will carry non-standard periodicals and the like. It shouldn't be all that hard to spot, either- it makes mention about the 3D open source movement in large block letters.
Other than that, you can get it online from 3D World as a back issue.
Thread: Thinking I might finally buy V4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Try getting 3D World Magazine issue #106, first. The accompanying CD includes (among other things) Victoria 4 (I believe it's the basic version), and the Aiko 4 morph package, and all for free too.
If all you were wanting to do was "see" if V4 was worth the trouble, that'd be the most cost-effective way to go. That way, if it was something you deemed worth purchasing, you could spring for the head and body morph packs for the figure.
Thread: Half Spider Woman? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
DAVO had a freebie spider body that could be used with a female figure. All you needed to do was make the female's lower torso invisible and then position it to the spider body, and you were good to go.
You might be able to find it at Rotica. There were a number of other places you could find it at, but it would seem that most of sites have gone the way of the do-do.
Thread: 3D World August 08 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
And what issue number would that be? I've got #103, and #104 has been on the newsstands out here for a couple of weeks now. Could it be #105? Maybe #106?
Thread: Explosions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This explosion is from a television show I did a little while back. Hope this helps if you want to make a Poserized explosion or something.
Thread: The Paint 3d program that came on the P4 cd. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The Poser CD bundle (when it was owned by Metacreations back in the day) included demo versions of Canoma (a proggie where you could make quasi-3D landscapes from 2D pics) and Paint 3D, which was what you could use to paint on 3D models. Or that's at least what I can remember, that is.
Thread: Ultraman Moebius for Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
http://ultrawoman.fc2web.com/index2.html
Looking mightlylady's site (link above), the latest figure available is something called "Ultrawoman Rebirth" (whatever that means). So I guess that means NO Ultraman Moebius. For the time-being, that is.
Thread: Looking for: - a free, lo-res, male slob | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
REMC had a freebie fattish male dude in his site. However, he's since sorta shut it down due to monetary restraints, so you'll have to e-mail him and ask for it in order to get it.
