Interesting! Are you using the Poser Root, Cycles or Physical? I could not get the specular looking right with the Physical root. Glitterati3D posted at 6:44PM Tue, 30 July 2019 - #4358220

New character wip!
Ooooh, nice! Love the eyes, and the eyebrows. The veins in the ears are just a tad dark, but nice texturing!

Hi Tonyvitters, Thanks. I use it for specific maps-like the following. You can see fine wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. So with Physical it will deform the mesh? I'll try that.I don't use Firefly these days. I can't seem to add any specular shine to the face Any odeas

A nice summary! Boni posted at 6:32PM Sat, 13 July 2019 - #4356133
Well ... generically ... one that is fully functional, pleasing to look at from the get-go. And for me, realistic physically. Too many times I have found noses, eyes and mouths too rudimentary and not easily turned into realistic looking. Posing rigs is a must for me now ... and spinal flexibility. better foot rigging (Like PE, La Femme). And never leave out the more realistic "look-up/down" and "look-side-to-side" with eye-lid adjustments. Texturing? that is all open for 3rd party opportunities. And finally for me ... a HUGE selection of morphs. Particularly for the face.
Bonus: is to make the texture maps and mesh and morphs MR's to encourage marketable character development. (thank you Paul/Pauline and La Femme!!)

I am playing with the PBR, my early replication of the posted node set up left me with the skin WAY too shiny. I added a fresnel node. My favorite lighting is EZDome 2 with some high resolution HDR's and a single "sun" light. Here is a comparison of my latest iteration. With Cycles on left for comparison. Still needs work- a little too much red scatter. The displacement node with + and - maps and using the math node is a carry over from the character maps. Seems a bit odd-but works for fine lines in face-of course I am Subdividing the mesh.
Thread: Poser Pro11 Mac- crashes after default scene loads-Appdata location? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks an0maluas, I found it. Unfortunately replacing the .dta and cache files with backup did not revive PoserPro11 this time. I had to re-install. Luckily, the replaced .dta files DID prevent the need to re-register and enter the serial numbers again.

On macOS, they go in /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Poser/11/, which is not the same folder as your Poser preferences are stored in, which is the same hierarchy, but under your own username, e.g. /Users//Library/Application Support/Poser/11 or .../Poser Pro/11
In either case, you may need to tell the Finder to show the Library folder, as it's hidden by default, or use the Finder "Go" Menu's Go To Folder option and type in the path.

Oh damn! I hope you don't have to re-install! I am dealing with my own corrupted prefs issue. Poser crashed-and now when I try to open it loads the default scene and crashes every time. I need to find the place in MacOS where the prefs and reg dta files are. Can't seem to find them. Are you on a Mac?

I agree! Mark it super useful!! thoennes posted at 8:37PM Wed, 03 July 2019 - #4355964
This has been a super useful thread! Is there any way to tag a thread as "super useful" in rendo? I don't see a "+1" or upvote or "like" button. Nor a "follow".
In the comparison of ezskin cycles to physical, what were the render times?

As Rokket said-it can't do micro displacement at render. It CAN do displacement if you use Subdivision on the model. I set the Figure type to Unimesh and set Subdiv to 2. I am still able to use the displacement maps I made earlier. Notice the scales? Displacement. Creature is one I made using Dawn and Zbrush in 2013. I'm still a n00b when it comes to creating SuperFly materials from scratch, so wasn't aware that SuperFly couldn't do displacement. Have you tried both the Cycles and Physical Surface root nodes?
BTW, the suit's looking good. Nice going on modeling the stripes in.
Thread: The New Wonder Woman Build Thread | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Superfly does Displacement-you simply have to SubD the mesh. Lvl2 or 3. I still use my pre-Superfly wrinkle maps.

I happen to agree with Sam. Your work is always top notch.
Anyway, modeling the stripes into the suit would certainly make it more unique, but that would be a whole lot more work than just adding them into the texture.
It would be a no brainer if Superfly could do displacement. But I don't know if I can get the striped deep enough with bump maps. I guess I won't know until I try.

Comparison of Physical (4mm Scatter distance) Top and Cycles (from EzSkin3-bottom. No lighting changes-just switched shaders.
