Hey all, I looked at the link in a previous thread about a reduced price version of Bryce at www.tigerdirect.com. It looks like they have two versions though (not including the upgrade version). One they call "Corel Bryce 5 3D Landscaping & Animation" for $70, and the other is "Corel Bryce 5.0 Full" for $170. Based on the features list they look to be pretty much the same thing. Does anyone know what the difference between the two versions is? Thanks, Josh
Thread: Colors in Fractal Explorer | Forum: Fractals
Thanks Tres, I'll try sending an IM to the artists. By the way, I looked at some of your gallery posts. Nice work. You capture the colors that I'm after, though it looks like you use UF rather than FE. Thanks for the response, Josh

See the attached link for a long list of free fractal programs. My personal favorite is Fractal Explorer.Josh
Thread: A few usage questions | Forum: Writers
Thanks to everyone who replied. One thing we can all count on is the quick responses to forum questions. Granted, a few of these sentences were convoluted. They could have been rewritten so that the grammar issue went away, but this was how they were written when the question arose so I left them that way. I imagine many rough drafts have a bit of "trailer park" language in them. :) Of course, many great writers have no qualms about breaking the rules of grammar, but they usually have a good reason for doing so, and they are usually aware that they are doing it. My weakness as a story teller is my grammar, and at this point in my writing life I prefer not to butcher the language any more than necessary--if I can help it. :) Thanks again for the responses. You have clarified some issues for me and given me other issues to think about. Thanks, Josh
Thread: FRACTINT - Anyone familiar with it??? | Forum: Fractals
I tried Fractint years ago and I hated it. In fact it screwed something up on my computer when I tried to run it so I refuse to ever use it again. Plus it is still a DOS program, never mind that Windows has been out for a decade (though there is an out of date Windows version). I just started created fractals again after seeing some of the amazing images in the gallery here. I started with Fractal Explorer and like it a lot. I also have used Tierazon 2. I love the colors in Tierazon, but don't really find it user friendly (having no undo function sucks). They are both free to download. Here's where you can get each of them: Fractal Explorer: www.eclectasy.com/Fractal-Explorer/index.html Tierazon2: http://www.eclectasy.com/Iterations-et-Flarium24/ Lastly, here is a page I found that lists dozens of free fractal generators with comments on each one: http://www.fractovia.org/fractal_generators/gen01.shtml Hope that helps, Josh
Thread: Help: Lighting & Channels | Forum: Photoshop
Thanks mpalash. I was able to get it to work after reading your reply. I forgot about the option of choosing Alpha 1 in Lighting Effect so you can use it as a bump map. I still need to make some adjustments before I'm satisfied with how the image looks, but at least it looks 3D now. Thanks again, Josh
