You are probably better off using AO on individual materials anyway. There is a great product in the store called "Occlusion Master", which is a Python script which lets you set AO on an object by material, or you can do it by hand in the material room. You don't need the overhead of having Firefly calculate the AO on items which won't benefit.
I agree, AO on the figures instead of the lights is a much better solution and can still reduce render times, since you don't really need it on everything, such as hair. Occlusion Master is a great tool and very easy to use.

The AO on the IBL light might be bogging you down... uncheck it in the light properties and try rendering :)

Ahh yes, thanks, I finally figured that out, but what confused me was it says "right click to skip"

Ok, I'm gonna ask a REALLY stupid question.
When you get to the part where you start to outline the left eyebrow:
After outlining the eyebrow, how the heck do you get the line to release?

What surprises me is that more Vista users don't step up to say what a load of garbage most of it is.
-shrug- I got tired of repeating myself.
I've used Vista (32bit home edition, 2g of ram) almost a year and have had no problems whatsoever. On a Dell, even!!! -gasp!-
I use all the programs I ran before on XP.
Sure, I've tweaked the hell outta it to free memory, I'd not go back to XP, ever.
;)

I have Vista and P7, dual core Dell, Nvidia card.
Had problems with poser at first, but after tweaking the settings a bit it now runs with no problems at all!
No problems with open GL either.
I get no errors, no freezing... Poser runs fantastic and fast.
Actually, Poser runs way better for me now.
Even tho it took some getting used to,
I love Vista (yes, I said it, please don't throw rocks!) I would never go back to XP.

Quote - Now I know why I don't get too involved in these message threads anylonger. Am I on everyones ignore list? All I did was ask a simple question about someting I noticed after installing SR 2.1 but since it wasn't a real problem, guess people don't want to talk about it.
I just installed it (currently rendering) and I haven't noticed a difference in the render times.

Quote - @ MaskimXul: Yup, it's broke. For a work around you can use TIFF as it saves correctly. I'll file this as a bug. Hopefully SR3.
When you hit something like this, especially if you can reproduce it file a bug report. They really do read those and that's the best way to get your pet bugs fixed.
Thanks. It's a big issue for me, because of rendering png thumbs for my products.
I've been exporting them as jpg and then converting them as png.
Converting thumbnails is a bit annoying, but ah well, I will submit a bug report and hopefully that will be addressed sometime in the near future.

Quote - I save PNG all the time. What are the steps to produce this one? I can try it in SR2.1 and let you know.
Thanks :)
Load a figure, import a bg image, in render settings options I've selected "render over background picture".
The window & bg image are the same size, btw.
It renders with the background visible, but when exported as a PNG it saves with no background
:(

Before the first SR2, I could save PNGs with a background image.
After installing it, I no longer could.
Please tell me this is fixed with the SR2.1...
