I try to run dresses and skirts through a sim to get them to fall properly without having to mess endlessly with tweaking dials. Some skirts are just about impossible to fit to a pose as soon as you move a thigh any more than a bit. Add a little wind, and it can really add that something extra to a still scene.
I just wish I had the knowledge to fix problems like the little bit that goes shooting off into space on the skirt I'm trying to sim right now.
Thread: Is hobby 3D a dyng art? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Outside of Poser-related communities, I've definitely noticed a slowdown. I used to have a large circle of aquaintences who used Poser or D|S, and now I rarely see new renders from the majority of them.
3D renders used to be infectious in my RP communities. One person would start posting images, others would want to know how to do it and jump on board with their own fledgling images, and we'd all share tips and tricks and how-to's. Now it seems if you're not actually sketching or drawing it, no one wants to see it.
I guess everything goes in cycles.

This is indeed fantastic news! Looking forward to seeing what the IBL changes and ambiant value support looks like. :)

I keep my stuff as contained as possible to transfer easily between purses. So I have a baggie full of lipsticks/balms/etc, a baggie with extra contact lenses/case/solution, a baggie full of assorted medications, and then the wallet, two sunglass cases, little photo books of my dog (I'm that person, yup), pens, scraps of paper (old recipts and grocery lists), dental floss, nail file, and dog poop bags.
It's big enough to stuff in my tablet or Kindle if I want it, as well as for the inevitable "can you put this in your purse for me" from my husband. Who then complains about how heavy it is if I ask him to hold it for a moment.
But I never put my phone and keys in my purse or I'll never find them. lol

Thread: Dawn's Impact on the Poserverse. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think Dawn's full potential and impact is still yet to come. Once the morph packs are finally released (and I do agree they should have had these done soon after her release to keep the momentum rolling), she'll be able to fully come into her own.
As I'm not at all technical enough to see if she does have issues in how she's built, all I can say is that as an end user I like Dawn. I think she has a lot of potential. I've put a lot of money into Dawn so far, supporting the vendors who support her. And I absolutely love seeing products come out that have both V4 and Dawn support. For me, it's the best of both worlds.
I'm still using V4, and I'll definitely use Dawn more once she's got all of her bells and whistles (and I figure out the fitting room better). I like having choices in what I can use for figures. She's another useful tool in my Poser toolbox.
Another thing I've noticed since her release is that it seems to have broken the V4 ice in the marketplace here. I'm seeing far more Genesis items released now than I've ever seen come out, along with V4 and Dawn items. I can't help but think that's a good thing.
PS. Dawn needs some Vascularity love, too. ;)

Thread: Grey skin when using reality 3 for poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Do you have non-SSS shaders for that skin? Reality creates it's own SSS, and the simpler the shader in Poser the better Reality reads and translates it to its own materials. You don't really need much more than the colour and bump maps connected.
It's also hard to diagnose the problem without seeing the settings in Reality. Is your specular colour really light? I think Reality's default is 64:64:64. Or is the diffuse map being overwhelmed by colour math?

I saw the hack message, too. Scared me since I'm on my work computer and don't want IT cracking down on me.

Hello, I'm having the same problem. I just purchased the Texture Transformer and the zip file is empty.

Thread: Detailed genitalia in a 3D figure. Express your concerns here | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - ETA: And as a result I do question what all the hype is about. There is huge promotional effort going on to promote a figure that is not only missing key components of her anatomy, but who is modelled in a way that makes adding such components difficult. Why? Doesn't make sense to me.
Simple answer from my point of view, some of us just really don't care if the figure has complete genitals. If she has all the working bits, great. If she doesn't, it really makes no difference to me. I rarely render nudes, and when I do I pose them modestly. Does she bend nicely and look alluring in a slip of lingerie? If she does, then I'm happy. The imagination can fill in the rest of what's under that lace.
Honestly, the fact that she only has base morphs still is of far more concern to me than her lacking of gentials.
Thread: Dawn is "Live" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - And this is why Poser will never actually have professionally crafted figures that are viable beyond Poser. "Good enough" is just fine.
If I might ask, what would be the price tag on such a professionally crafted figure? Would it be within the budget of hobbiests who make no money from their 3D renderings and just do this for fun? I'd love a figure that was the best of everything, but I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on her, either.
