Somewhere in April 2000 Metacreations sold Bryce to Corel. The page you are referring to was on Metacreation's site and therefor doesn't excist anymore. As far as I know (but someone correct me if I'm wrong)Corel didn't take over the whole Bryce-talk-thing but maybe there's some information about this on corel's site. ---------------------------------------------------- But IMHO this is just one of the customer-unfriendly strategy Corel is currently creating for Bryce users: another example: you first have to purchase Corel's Bryce4 before you can upgrade it to Bryce 4.1 , ....or was this fixed?...can't remember,

Wishmaster :This is the reason why Sinv-jica (aka spooky) got banned from renderosity a few months ago, guess some people never change, even when they get a 2nd change....(sights)

ok, first of all there are 2 plugins available. one is for 3dmax2.0 the other is for 3dmax3.0 , So make sure you have the correct plugin: you can get them at http://www.habware.at/duck3.htm (for 3dmax3.0) or at http://www.habware.at/duck2.htm (for 3dmax2.0).... Now if you go to your 3dmax directory there's a sub-directory named 'plugins':that's where you put the obj2max-plugin to... also don't forget to download the MAX2OBJ plugin, you need this also.... Thread: AAAARRRRG! My Bryce keeps crashing in render! *Snarl* | Forum: Bryce
You're right iron...It's been insane around here for the couple of past days...received allot of strange emails about the renderosity-issue from "fellow artists" who tried to convince me that I had to leave renderosity....well, I'm still here!
Thread: AAAARRRRG! My Bryce keeps crashing in render! *Snarl* | Forum: Bryce
A few months ago I posted a similar message and got laughed at. No-one had ever experienced a 'Bryce-Crash'on their pc. It's nice to see that at least I'm not the only one! In my case I'd created a scene in bryce (which was only 40 megs or so) and it crashed within a few minutes after I had pushed the Render button... Thank God I found the cause, after fooling around for a couple of days. I had created a model in rhinoceros and saved it as a obj file, then imported it into Bryce. That's when things went wrong. So I went back to Rhino and saved the model this time as a 3DS-file. And It worked, Bryce didn't crash anymore! Now I don't know who to blame here: Bryce or Rhino ( I think rhino cause I I've imported many Poser models in obj format into Bryce without a problem) So if your scene has some imported models in it, maybe convert them to another format (3DS,DXF etc.) Oh and by the way Sinv-jica /Spooky: Although we had our differences about the whole Rating/Comment thing some time ago , let's put it all behind us and look forward. It's nice to see you back and I realy enjoyed your new work in the gallery-section...nice job!

It says: "This image made bryce4 crash" but I guess It should have said: "Imported objects made bryce4 crash". I usually work like this: Creating meshes in Rhino or Maxx, saving them as an obj file, importing them into Bryce, Resizing them in Bryce, Saving the work as a Br4-file. I repeat this a couple of times until i'm satisfied with the result. With this particular image I had created 8 cables which were conected to the chair (2 chairs so 16 cables) and saved it as an obj-file. When I imported it into Bryce I first noticed that it took a very, very long time till it was finaly loaded into Bryce. When it was finished importing the cables Bryce just crashed! I didn't get an error message or something like that. Windows was still working. tried it again a couple of times with the same result. So I just left the cables out of the image. Now my best guess is that Rhino messed the obj file up while converting it. Btw I have a pentium 233Mhz with 64 Mb Ram The scene was 32Mb (without the cables)
Thread: Work In Progress..... | Forum: Bryce
Everything was made with Rhino and imported into Bryce4. Except for all the cylinders, they are Bryce primitives. Thanks bonestructure for the suggestion.I've tried It with some stretched spheres and it seems to work. When the image is finished i'll upload it to the bryce gallery here on renderosity, so you can see the result...

I really like the texture you used on the ship, But mayby the engines could use some smoke and/or flames...? Anyway, nice work, looking forward to the final render...
Thread: Volume materials on meshes? | Forum: Bryce
Go to the materials lab and reduce the 'base density', you could also try to increase the 'fuzzy factor' and note: if you experimenting with a volumious materials (I haven't used clay's texture, but I guess It's a volumious texture) set quality/speed to a minimum(25), in the final render set this between 40/75
