Quote - > Quote - somewhat off topic James Cameron is working on an adaption of Yukito Kishiro's manga Battle Angel Alita! Sounds like he's going to combine the 1st 3 vol. covering Hugo and Motoball. ^ ^
Is this some kind of secret code? Could someone translate this into the Queen's English?
DPH
Manga= A japanese form of comic art
Battle Angel Alita= A character/series of comics
Yukito Kishiro= The artist
James Cameron= made some of the best US films ever :P
Not familiar with the series, but that's how I roughly translated it.

Quote - Poserclub JP... I think the instructions may need updating. I seem to have set up an ID and password. I seem able to login. But no downloads work.
If you're trying to click the text that says "Download" it's not that... if you click the picture of the item, the popup window will appear.
Also check your browser security settings for pop-up blockers and make sure file downloading isn't blocked.

One of the forums I go to, I remember reading that several Windows people got Mac discs instead... so at least you know it isn't just you!
(I can't remember if it was over at Content Paradise or not, I just remember there were at least three people in the thread that this happened to.)

She is adorable. Thanks for sharing your find...
Also, google has a new translation utility where you enter the URL of a webpage to get the entire thing translated at once... it's very helpful.
She has some nice snippets of poetry scattered on her pages.

Quote - and I was just stating my feelings about what looked much like an attempt by a merchant to make good free things look bad. like, its dangerous to get free things, they have licenses (buy mine instead).
I don't have any guitars in my shop... as a matter of fact, I don't have much of anything in my shop at the moment because I've been away from the community for two years. So before implying I'm trying to sell something, why don't you see if I actually am?
Quote - looks even more that way since she couldnt resist ridiculing the person who made the freebie, and i quote "I don't want to be responsible for giving this poor guy a coronary"
What you label as "ridicule" I intended as being lightharted fun, so that it wouldn't seem like I was being too harsh. Wow. I can't win no matter what.
Quote - i sure didnt "pass" on the guitar
i'll take my chances with that dangerous license
And that's fine for what you do with your art. It just seems at times that there are more merchants here than end users, and the terms of that particular lisence is something they'd specifically need to be aware of. Sorry I tried to help anyone out.

btw: you can't keep track of licenses? so you dont keep track of the licenses for the commercial items you buy either then?
is it much harder to respect a license for a free product than a commercial one?
No need to get confrontational... my post was partially a reminder to people to check the license terms when they download. And by sticking only to items that are for commercial use, I don't have to track anything, because I know all my content is usable already. That's my point.

It's a nice model and all, but I can't allow myself to download it because of the usage liscence. I can't keep track of the liscence for every single thing I have, and if I accidentally threw it into a promo picture for some clothes I made or something, I don't want to be responsible for giving this poor guy a coronary. :P
If only some programmer would come up with a way to "tag" Poser content so that the permissable usage pops up in a window in Poser if you ask it to. Then I wouldn't have to restrict myself...
Thread: ARGH!!! Can hair be done without a Waicom???? | Forum: Photoshop
I purchased my first 4x3 Wacom tablet 8 years ago for $50... and actually, the tablet was free, I was really paying for the software it came bundled with, lol.
Unless you're working for a professional graphic arts company, you really don't need a tablet with a working surface area any larger than 6x8. And the higher surface area is what starts racking up the price.
Take a gander over at Amazon.com under the tablet section... not only do they have good prices on the Graphire series ($150 on up for a 6x8) but there are some "off brand" tablets that are very reasonable. However, I would recommend going with a Wacom, because I bought one of those "other" brands for my daughter, and it requires batteries for the pen... YUCK. Wacom tablets do not require batteries.
However, as MistDragon points out, there are tuts out there that don't require a tablet. Don't give up hope :D

My example is all about computers and information security and storage... how is it not relevant?
Renderosity collecting this information won't stop thieves, it will just restrict the number of people who enter contests. And then they have my information, which is probably not secure. Which means there's ANOTHER opportunity for theft.... do you see where I'm going now?
Renderosity compiling a database of serial numbers is just another opportunity for thieves to take something, via hacking or a situation like my example. Once the number is out of my hands, I no longer have control over it. And some thief will have better access to it.
Thread: Preventing usage of Warez | Forum: Community Center
And clearly you've never been the victim of identity theft.
9,000 US military veterans just became at risk for identity theft because some stupid civil servant brought home a database of veteran's social security numbers and current home addresses on their personal laptop, which was then stolen. I was one of the veterans affected.
So you can see why, if my personal information isn't safe on a computer housed in a US Government office, I don't think it would be safe anywhere. I'm not about to volunteer information to anyone that doesn't have a right to already know it. Period.
I'm not saying Rosity couldn't implement such a requirement, but I'll tell you right now that I'd never enter such a contest where that was required. And I don't think I'm alone.

sigh Sawyer....
No suggestions on the hair but I thought I'd drool here a bit. :P
Actually, would the radiant jauguar hair a) morph to that length and b) be able to be fitted to M3? It's pricey, but it's definitely nice hair.
Thread: DV Capture error, what to do ??? | Forum: Animation
It's possible the capture plugin got corrupted, I suppose. I imagine you tried uninstalling and reinstalling UV9?
Have you checked the hard drive you're importing to to make sure it's got enough space? Have you checked that hard drive for errors? Have you changed any settings on your camera that might affect the import?
Thread: DV Capture error, what to do ??? | Forum: Animation
Ulead software can be quirky. I have not played with their DV capture area, but I seem to remember hearing complaints about it. Have you installed all the updates and patches available? Version 10 has been out for quite some time, so I would think V9 would be all patched up by now.
Have you tried a different software package to import your digital video from your camera?

*Hey darth_poserus, you can't leave it hanging there, come on spill the beans and tell us what they did!!!
Oh, lets not start the DAZ bashing or I'll have to tell my tale of screwage too.
Lets just say that for a company based in the religiously-uptight state of Utah, they seem to have no compunction about flirting with the gray area around intellectual property theft. There have been threads a mile long about this in the Poser forums... I'd look one up.

Quote - Conceptually then... don't you agree that the products used in contest (and to produce items in the marketplace) should be legit and it would be good if there was way to verify it?
Actually, no.
If an artist steals a paintbrush, and subsequently paints a masterpiece with it, this does not invalidate the value of the artwork. It's still a worthy piece of art no matter what its origins.
I don't see 3D software as anything but fancy tools. There is no "make art" button. You have to have the artistic eyes and skills to pull something from it.
