This White Storm happened to me last August and Smith Micro advised me that Poser 7 and 8 was not supported by Win 7 since they reached update number 198 ! I ran a Restore, got a clean out-of-the-box computer, informed Win 7 NEVER to look for updates (option 3 hidden away inside Win 7) then pulled the plug. My rendering compie runs fast and sweet with none of that Windows garbage hanging around its neck. Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Books and Tut's. Like:
Denise Tyler's 'Practical Poser' / 'Secrets of Poser Experts' / 'Digital Female' / N8Dreams (Web Tigress) for one of the best Tut's I've ever seen. A WOW ! on almost every page ! It's in the archive Tutorials department here under the title 'How to create your own Beauty'. When I was in school they didn't teach anatomy (little boys shouldn't learn about the naughty bits) but N8Dreams taught me a number of reasons why some figure poses look dead - if you don't know that females stand differently.

The best reflection setup I ever found was a freebie here by Richabri called Bunny Set.
I noted his simple settings for the mirror and have never looked back. No shaders just a modification of the Reflection Wacro.
Thread: Re P7 and P8 not supported by Win 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Good news all around. I did a full Win 7 Recover 100%. Had to reload a lot of stuff but all bugs are gone, Wacom runs, I can print again, even my DVD drive opens up when you stick a disk in, but best news of all: Poser 7 & 8 are running again ! So I'm happy but nervous LOL
BTW I do run CC Cleaner, Wise Registry cleaner, and a non-MS Defrag app.
Thanks for the input !

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Poser 7 symptoms were starting fine as usual up to the document window stage but as soon as I clicked anywhere like 'Load' since I hadn't finished my Scene Setup the previous day, P7 simply disappeared and left me looking at my Desktop. Poser 8 booted to the Doc window stage and remained there until I clicked on 'Load' and immediately the Screen went a sort of semi-transparent White and a popup told me that my Poser executable file was no longer running. Everything remained White and nothing responded so I had always to Control-Alt-Delete to get out. Regarding SP3, installed on both P7 and P8. Graphics and several other Drivers were all up to date.
The other issues are not strictly Poser Problems so shouldn't be discussed here.
I'm scheduling a Restore once I've read the book that came with my compie and sussed out the various types of restore.available. Like partial restore back to a date Prior to my Problems showed up, or if that Fails, then a 100% restore. If that cures things I won't mind so much having to rebuild here and there.
Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
Thread: Why are you still using V4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Once upon a time, there were three bears. No. Wrong Story.
I used to think P6 Jessie was Kinda cute, except for her muscle-packed shoulders anyway.
V4 was a Quantum leap into the future by comparison and I can't say the same for all of the newbie V's. So there !
I'll wait a Little longer until the WOW effect arrives on the Scene, and it'll have to be a WOW that is hollered so loud that it can be heard around our planet.

And to my knowledge and opinion P7 had the most friendly UI. P8 the worst.
Is this still my thread about P 10 ? If so, then another little declaration.
If P 10 is employing the same floating document window (which I could never use in P 8 to resize my window until I found the resize popup hidden BEHIND the Doc window, floating or docked) I might NOT go for P 10 after all.
Wow, I managed that without any F**k words !

Thanks to BagginsfamouspersonBill for the laughs (I'm still rolling on the floor but typing this with my new Smart Phone)
Thanks to LaurieA for a second roll on the floor.
Wish my own family was as crazy as this one LOL
I'm too long in the tooth to do much more than (as a Cinema 4D person once said to me in a private hate-mail) Load 'em, Pose 'em and Post 'em.
I would like to continue my quest for the best possible lighting and to continue to get at least four comments in the Galleries here, and do it with some reliable software.

Yep ! ZAP and I'm out in my desktop again.
This is getting serious. No weekend renders ? Shi* it's easier to quit smoking.

WOW what a deluge. Thanks to everybody. In many cases I have already done most of the above. It is true that IE11 screws up P8, my previous visit to SmithMicro help department was about P8 and I had just allowed Windows to load IE 11. So I wound back to IE 10 and all was well again.
Yes, I have ensured that my Poser executable and Render files are allowed by Windows Firewall, that was done two years back.
Yes, the Problem arose, slowly, a day or two after a massive 158 MB Windows update package. I, too, have restricted Windows to ask me first and normally I do vet the crap before I allow any of it to get into my machine. However I have to admit that this time I did not vet the package. Dogs were barking, my wife was shrieking her car wouldn't start, we had a Twister heading in our direction and 'more important' things like that took priority, F**k it.
Regarding graphics Drivers, Shucks, I did update my Drivers as part of my solo attempt to cure the Problem. I fired-up P8 this morning and guess what happened . . .
Thread: White screens, crashes etc. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've been quite busy lately. Did a totally clean uninstall and checked everywhere for traces that Poser was once here. All clean. Then ran my cleaners, CC Cleaner, Wise Registry cleaner, Windows own clear-up-the-junk App and followed that lot up with a defrag.
This morning re-installed Poser 7 and saw a lot of Screens I hadn't been seeing, like the Poser opening Screen when you can select what you want to do.
Poser started, much to my surprise and opened a miniature Document Window with Simon in it. It also reported that this file is a later Version but we'll try to load it anyway etc. etc. and finally I got as far as changing the Document window figure (one of my V4 Girls) and opening my library which was my external Content library and it never did that before. Then I saved my preferences so that my Startup would always be my startup. Except that ten seconds later I was bombed out to the Desktop. ! ? ! So it's back to square one, guys. Oh yes, in the middle of all this, the bit where I changed start-up figure, this was done by opening a file from my external Content. So even that seemed at the time to be promising.
Thread: White screens, crashes etc. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks a Million for all These possibilities. I'll work on them all today.
Yesterday I found a solution which isn't perfect, but stops the White Screens.
After opening Poser, instead of going straight for a file, I call up a "New" file. This is exactly the same as my Default start Screen as set up in my preferences, but it then allows Poser to run without Problems. Funny.

Number 3 seems to have the right Waist to Hip ratio, but isn't this a subjective thing ? Some folks like 'em skinny and some like 'em well fed.
Thread: 2 Main cameras in my camera list, and moving scenery instead of moving figure. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Still have the problem although I have decided to dump this file that is corrupt in some way. But first I removed the Room Set and just retained the figure. Removed the floor and kept the default Ground. Now when I select the figure's body and use my Main Camera Y rotate parameter, it's the default ground that is rotating - not my Figure.
Ho Hum. Good that I wasn't tempted to dial up any other clones in case this is a medical problem LOL and all my V4 clones have a heavy cold.
Thread: 2 Main cameras in my camera list, and moving scenery instead of moving figure. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for this one, Boni, it sounds like it's more likely to be something silly, like accidentally clicking somewhere I shouldn't have clicked.
Today I discovered (by loading a second figure into my corrupt file) the second figure behaves perfectly normally. This narrows things down to the first figure and the set, rather than anything else.
If you are right I'll post a Thank You, it might happen to someone else.
