I know this is all strange but I need to know how to make this work. I've been hoping it was possible, since Posing takes soooo much time. Normally IK annoys me because it means people refuse to move their legs. However I have characters who need to wield two handed tools. I would rather not have to line up both hands every time. Please tell me the simplest, specific, way to make a character's hands (or gloves if easier) glue to a broom handle or similar? Once I see an example work then I will understand whatever it is you said above.

Texture maps have been problematic for me also. I got one of the textures - select your figure, pick Render/Materials and see what the 'texture map' is, and then do a search for that filename. Copy it to another file, and then try repainting it, and finally go back into the materials and Load the new file. Then there are just four other frustrating things to get over (and solutions) 1) The textures are kinda hard to line up, so if you want, say, to put gloves on, there might be a very badly lined up joint. Similarly finding exact other places on the body can be really tricky, especially since there dont seem to be any templates I can find. What I did, is use trial and error and then put little dots to show where obvious edges are (wrists etc) so they dont get overpainted. 2) Once you load a texture, Poser refuses to reload it unless you close and open Poser. To get around this all my custom textures end up as being aaaa1a, 1b, 1z etc as if it was different. 3) These textures often look painted on, unless you are doing skin, in which case it looks like skin. nb/ it is amazingly good at making it look better in the render than the source bitmap, and you can make the edges sharper by increasing the res of the bitmap and it will still fit (if it did before) Solution for clothes if they dont look real is use darker colours. Paler colours look more painted on. 4) There is a utility which I am sure everyone else will recommend, UVMapper, which gives you far more control over everything. It is amazing, but unhappily I seem to be too stupid to figure out how to use it and the tutorial I had was confusing and also for the wrong version of UVmapper, but give it a try anyhow. Good luck!

I see jvals and casamericas points, but my view is different again. Emilys first mail seemed helpful in that she did try and be as open as she could. Daz does show you what you are getting, and it stands to reason that if they are gonna sell 1000 michael sets and 5000 vicki sets then it is worth them spending more time on the vicki ones. also if they ever do a antarctic explorer mike, then it will be one suit and cost $35 again because only 10 people will buy it. These guys have to eat. Also, whilst it would be ince in customerserviceville to be able to answer everything, in a technical frame it is unreasonable - I would love to ask microsoft a lot of questions, half of which would sound critical, but they wouldnt answer so i dont bother. Go to one of your retail outlets and ask if and why the bread dough is or isnt microwaved in the bakery, or why they use this modulator in this TV instead of this one or how its radiation interacts with your cellphones'. they wont know, the people making stuff are too busy to answer questions like that. But if someone disagrees, then what I personally would love to ask Daz - maybe I will - is why V2s breasts look glued on - there is a very distinct angluar bit at the edge, which makes cleavage look odd to me. Maybe I'll ask Emily because again I thought she sounded very helpful. Marketing, I did think it odd how I bought V2 for $50 then found I couldnt afford the $100+ that a small wardrobe of clothes would cost. So she has PhilCs bikini on and std P4 stuff. But again if Daz cant sell enough they have to charge more. Wish we could all buy all of it and then they could do it all for $50 for everything Daz on a CD and sell 100,000 of them...

wow! I had to laugh out loud at all these but I couldnt cuz Im at work. You couldnt make this stuff up! I wanted to see the tellers face when she saw you (Marque) had an accurate 3d model of her! Hope she was flattered, and I'm gonna have to try and dream in wireframe (Styxx) to see if I can! Also I have 5 computers and Poser is on 2 of them (Butch) so that was weird. My contributions: I saw a girl in a really nice crop top and thought 'the character Im working on would look nice in that' and another in a nice womens' suit before I had to stop myself and say 'your a guy, youre supposed to just gawp at them not admire their clothing!' Also, I was driving and glimpsed a really cute young woman in an especially cute pose, but before I could appreciate the sight properly, life (and traffic) swept me away from her and I found myself thinking, 'darn! well I'll just have to recreate that scene from memory when I get home and then I can appreciate it properly' My view; if Poser is taking over your life, then, well, better than baseball IMHO - u just gotta love it despite its little foibles! I just hope someone can tell me it will work better in Win2k with a dual processor PC, then half my gripes will go away. /me waves at PhilC, grand master poser dude :-)
