LOL I converted this model for Poser about 6 years ago
www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php
I never released it because I couldn't get permission from the original modeler James Murphy (Tobor) to use his model.
The original was built it 1998 and is still available at his site:
www.btinternet.com/~tobor/meshes.htm
There's also a great Dalek there and a Space 1999 Eagle transporter
Cheers

You might be better getting Swidhelm's Drone, it's a much better figure, the site he hosts it on is down but he says if you email him at: dcsmith-1@hotmail.com he'll send it over.
And you might want to take a look over here too,
www.sixus1media.com/freebies.html
There's an excellent Alien Queen there to be had
Cheers

Try contacting Hawkfyr, Tom's a friend of Liteluvr's (Jeff), so he may know his email
I do have an email address for Liteluvr, but it's really old and I'm not sure it will still work, and as far as I know it is the same one he had in his read-me which you probably already have, I'll mail you it anyway

Thread: Poser Gallery that is not Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Not to throw a spanner in the works here, but, there will never be a 100% pure Poser image, not if you use any props or figures in it at least, everything that's made to be used in Poser , V3, M3, whatever, is created in other programs, for instance, and not to throw anything bad on SamTherapy's excellent render, in the image info it states the car is a 3DS one, so it's probably not been built in Poser, and the buildings look like Stonemason's, and if they are, they were created in MAX, and if it's a DAZ figure for the young lady, it's probably been built in Lightwave, and more than likely Photoshop to do the textures. So, if you see my point, there is no such thing as 100% Poser, and never will be until Poser becomes a fully fledged modelling prog on top of what it already is.
Cheers

BTW Tyger_purr, totally outstanding LOL
Thread: Many Poser Import Problems | Forum: Vue
A shot in the dark this, but what it might be is the figure is made up from numerous obj files, one for the body, one's for the doors, one for each propeller etc. and the export/import doesn't see this. Have you checked the geometries folder to see what obj files are in the folder for this figure? Try importing the obj file for the helicopter into Poser see how it looks, instead of loading it as a figure and see if it's complete there, then do the same in Vue. I'm only thinking this because John said in his reply to extract the 'Obj files', and I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Cheers Billy

Remco, I don't think it's your computer that's at fault, I'm still using a old PC running a Pentium III 733 and Windows 98 at home, and a year old PC at work, the errors I get at home I also get on the new system in work, the chances are it'll be the file itself.
I know rodluc wants you to send it over to him, could you also send it over to me? I'll import it into Lightwave and fix it up as though I was doing a conversion for Poser/Vue and test it in Vue4 and P5 and then send it back over for you to try, I might be able to spot whats causing the problem in the first place and then you will be able to avoid it in the future.
GPFrance: thanks for the info, I knew I'd seen there was a poly limit, and now I think about it, I've had a problem exporting 3ds from LW when the mesh is too big, and that poly limit was what it was.
Cheers

Thread: Lightwave to Vue Infinite object import problem | Forum: Vue
Mario, the obj files don't quite load the textures correctly in Vue4, which is all I've got, I've had to knock the scale down just a touch when I've imported them into Vue, if you look at the window textures in the obj files there's window-a, window-b, b1, b2 and so on, b1, b2, etc. are scaled differently on the original models, when Vue imports the models they all become the same size, hence the reason I set up my own mat files, to save myself some time.

One thing to remember about 3ds is that it's a very old format, so old it still has the old DOS 8 character file name limit, and 3ds files have to be completely made up of tri's, the format doesn't support quads or n-gons, also, and don't quote me on this, but I also seem to remember there being a polygon limit with 3ds files. There are ways around the file name limit, but none that I've found for the fact that the mesh has to be completely triangulated before exporting, LW for exanple won't export to 3ds unless it is all tri's in the first place, and I think some problems I originally had with using Deep Exploration to do the conversion were due to the fact that the model was being triangulated by DE as part of the conversion process, and was occasionally screwing the mesh up along the way. I know this doesn't help you with your problem, but it might help towards explaining some of the reasons your having trouble with the 3ds export/import Cheers Billy
Thread: Lightwave to Vue Infinite object import problem | Forum: Vue
One of the reasons we released the obj & Poser versions of Moe's Dystopia blocks was to overcome this problem in Vue & other progs with the amount of textures used in each LW set, I think off the top of my head for all 80 blocks there's only 25 textures used for the lot, or there abouts, even then there is still the texture scaling problem in Vue. I do have a set of Vue mat files made up in Vue4 that I use for my own work, but they still need to be applied to the models when they're imported. I'll see if it's okay with the others to package the mat files and textures up and put them up in the freebies section, if the guys agree, and if I get time, I'll try and post them at the weekend, they might help a little. Cheers Billy BTW, there was a .vob version of the commercial blocks in the pipeline, to be released through Cornucopia, but due to some problems with how they are set up to pay the artists, we unfortunately had to put this on hold, I'm still working on doing the free versions for Vue, but that'll take a bit of time due to other commitments, but hopefully there will be Vue native versions eventually.

One other thing I forgot to mention is the site this is on has a bandwidth limit, so there may be times when it seems to be down, it isn't it's just reached it's limit for the month is all, I'm looking for an alternative site to host it, when I do I'll update the links accordingly. Billy

Ajax, if your still having problems with the model, send the mapped one back over, I've got a few new techniques for sorting out the problems with the meshes, the same ones I used on the last set of city blocks, there seems to be less problems with the last lot of conversions than any of the previous ones, and this new way keeps all the UV mapping intact as well, coz it doesn't remove any of the points in the model. Cheers Billy
