"If you dislike so much about Renderosity, then why do you spend so much time here?" tutone1234, from your remark, I have the impression, you did not at all understand what was talked about in this thread. I'd therefore suggest that you stay quiet until you DO understand and only then starting to comment.

That's probably it (I should have found THAT out myself - stupid)! Thanks for your quick reply. I'm going to check it right away when I get home tonight.
Thread: P5 non-delivery saga continues... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No sign of it in Brussels. But then again: the weather changed, and it is raining now (almost unheard of in Belgium), which maybe the reason for non-deliveries.
Thread: Do I have to reinstall Poser or is there a way to fix this problem? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I can tell you. It seems to happen all the time, if you do not close the Poser application "properly". This is: if it just gives up on you, or you kill it somehow (because you get angry with the bugs 'n stuff). The way to get back to your own settings: Go to "set preferences" under the "edit" menue and hit "set factory state" and "return to default settings" (or something). The shut-down Poser and restart. It should now come back with default window (and that Bozo on the screen, who looks at you like a cow in a thunderstorm). Now you can start putting all the settings back to where and how you want them, then you return to the "set preferences" menue again and hit "set preferred state" and "start-up with preferred settings" and what not. Now you should be all set with your own preferred settings (while you are sitting, doing the settings). I the usually go and shut Poser down once again and start it back up, just to see on whether everything is returning like I want it. - It usually does... Okay, maybe there is an easier way, but I haven't figured out any. If somebody else has, I'd be grateful to learn about it. Otherwise my compliments for this mess are going to Mr. & Mrs. Curious Lab - ScheiSpiel!!!

Thread: Why not "free download" instead of "free stuff" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Good Lord! The "Free Stuff" was the "Free Stuff" since Renderosity was born, i.e. around the time when Eve offered Adam the apple (yeah, I remember that day, it was rainy and cold). So, what's the big deal? Sometimes I have the impression that some people try to be more catholic than the pope. Ahh, never mind...
Thread: Poser acting weird | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Why would you have to? I could imagine that most of the files are in the right place anyway. And the ones that do not work at the moment should be the minority of them all. Unless you've really spread them around all over the place on your HD. In this case, you will REALLY have lots of fun. Anyway, make sure you are equipped with sufficient amounts of peanuts and beer before you start. That makes it somewhat more bearable. Now then: Sches Wochenende, have fun, and lots of it. D.

Now, here we go to manipulate the cr2-file (as promised): As I said, first collect ALL your obj-files in only ONE geometries-folder and get rid of ALL the others. You need to make a decision: either in c:/Programs/Metacreations/Poser/Runtime/Geometries or in c:/Programs/CuriousLabs/Poser/Runtime/Geometries, or in any other form that suits you best. I have them in d:/Poser/Runtime/Geometries, for instance. Whichever suits you, but it needs to be only ONE folder in ONE particular location. Otherwise you will go apeshit over time, trying to keep the whole caboodle organised. Done? - All right then. Now open the cr2-file in a text editor (MS-Word, or, if you were lucky enough to get it for free, as I was, in the cr2editor - mucho easier). Then look for a line, starting with: figureResFile Actually, you will find 2 lines starting like that, and you need to modify them BOTH. For Michael-1, the original Millennium Man figure, for instance, they will have to look like: figureResFile:Runtime:Geometries:DAZPeople:blMilMan.obj which means that your obj-file is in the folder: Runtime/Geometries/DAZPeople You get the idea? Folders and subfolders are divided by a colon (:) and the actual file comes last (blMilMan.obj) Note: Spelling is important, as well as capital letters. This way, you can re-organise your entire Geometries folder and place the obj-files, where you would like to see them, rather than having to follow those numerous instructions, which come with the various downloads to create a million subfolders for whomever wants to make a point of having his own subfolder in your Geometries-folder. It gets much less messy that way. Now, please try it. And if Poser still runs mad at you, please don't hesitate to give me a ring. Good luck D.

Leather-Guy, I owe you one, my friend!! It worked. I got rid of the doubles, and no crashing while importing. The loading time still remains long, however, but for the rest, you did the trick. Thanks a lot, and have a good day. regards D.

You need to open the cr2-file in a text editor (MS-word or so) and find the two lines, which refer to the obj-file in the geometries folder. They read something like: curiouslab:poser4:runtime:geometries:DAZPeople:blmillman.obj or metacreations:poser4:runtime:geometries:DAZPeople:blmillman.obj Note: I do not know the exact spelling and order (I don't have poser on my laptop here in the office), but you NEED to watch the exact spelling and capital letters. Anyway, you then replace metacreations by curiouslabs or vice versa, depending on where your obj-files are actually located. Then you save the modified cr2-files and they should load in Poser allright. Careful: There are 2 (two) lines in the cr2-file that you need to modify. Please send me an IM, if you can't solve it after this. I'll be happy to look the exact command string up for you this evening.

Chohole: If you move the .obj-files of your DAZ figures from the Metacreations- to the Curious Labs geometries folder (or vice versa), you must change the pointer in the cr2-files of that respective figure, to point to the new location, in which your obj-file is sitting now. Otherwise the figures will not load.

Can't help you with the music, Clint, but the movement of the Poser window may have something to do with the way, Poser had been shut down last time around. I am running Poser on similare H/W to yours and also with W2k, and it always happens that the Poser window is all over the place, whenever Poser had crashed or I did shut it down by not using the propoer means (like switching off the computer w/o closing Poser before). It can also happen, if you start Poser by opening a pz3-file directly, w/o going through the import-procedure after starting-up Poser empty. However, another thing is annoying me. Since I started to run Poser on W2k, it takes incredibly long to load (appr. 3 min.) and the import window shows all the choices twice (all double entries in the dropdown window). Now, if I want to import a, say, a .obj-file (or dxf, or whatever choice you have), I must always use the last entry of that choice in the list. Otherways Poser crashes in a way that I will have to do a cold re-start of the whole caboodle. I already tried to cure this problem by re-installing Poser, but it didn't go away. Anybody have an expalnation for this???

Thread: Has anyone been to the DAZ store lately? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, always happens to me when I buy something from DAZ. Either the checkout page runs around in circles after hitting the download button, or it downloads the http-script of the page instead (quite useful, but it won't accept any morph targets & doesn't conform to the Dork). Then I always have to contact DAZ to give me a temporary URL, which each time they do, and they do it very quickly (thanks again for that). But it is somewhat of a pain in the butt (for them as well, I guess). On my downloading Stephanie, the d/l-page crashed a number of times, and I ended up with incomplete zip-files (which, of course, don't open). If this happens to you, make sure you throw the incomplete zip-file into the dustbin and clear the temp. internet files folder. Otherwise you end up with the rest of the incomplete file, next time you attempt to download (and I don't know of any way how to fiddle the 2 together and make them 1 zip-file). However, finally, on the fourth or fifth attempt, Steffie came strolling onto my harddisk in one piece, and now I'm having fun with her (if my wif's not around, that is).
