@ebergerly: Of course, I can send you the lastest version of the program. I didn't find the email I used to send you previous versions. Can you resend me a message to reinitialize the dialog between our emails. I will send you the new version as soon as I will receive your message.
Thanks. I sent a site message with my email. I sure appreciate it.
Thread: Restarting the development of VWD | Forum: Virtual World Dynamics
I've been away from VWD for quite a while (I'm still on v 1.1.522...) and I'm wondering if there's a publicly available update for it, and if so where can I get a copy? Last I recall is that there was an effort to add GPU support, which I'm very much looking forward to.
Thanks.

I'm really excited to hear there's more development on the GPU version of VWD. I'm a HUGE VWD fan, and I think it's extremely well designed. I'm trying to learn how to program GPU's using my background in C#, and it sure isn't easy. That's why I'm so impressed that the GPU modfications to VWD were completed so quickly. I'm in awe.
I'm curious, what language is used for VWD and the GPU libraries? I'm assuming C++?
Anyway, is there any way to provide support yet to VWD? I saw some posts about Patreon (though I'd prefer something that's not a monthly commitment). Any way to provide support via Paypal or something?
Thanks!!

Also, don't forget the force field you can place under the clothing to expand it. And it even works dynamically. You can move it in real time and the sim will keep calculating as you move the force field. That's what I do to place or remove folds, etc.

And conversely, don't forget my absolute favorite feature of VWD:
SCALE !!!
If you want clothing to fit naturally and form-fitting, this is the most wonderful feature. Just select the vertices of the clothing and set the Scale to maybe 80-90%. Amazing.
No more of that conforming clothing nonsense where clothing doesn't naturally bridge the area between the legs or the breasts :)

You're doing GPU programming ???? YYYYAAAYYYY !!!!
Okay, nobody disturb Gerald while he's programming
Thread: Converting VWD Sim to Morph | Forum: Virtual World Dynamics
Well, I think it's really straight forward if anyone's interested. Do the sim, which generates the _VWD clothing object. Hide everything in the scene but that VWD object, and export as OBJ. Use the default (?) DAZ Studio settings for the OBJ.
Now select the original conforming clothing and open Morph Loader Pro. Select to convert From Daz Studio, and then under Choose Morph Files find the OBJ you just saved with the _VWD object, and then use the defaul settings, and click Accept.
That should put a morph dial under Parameters/Morphs/Morph Loader.
Cool.

Hey, I did it !!!!!!!! Don't ask me what settings I used, I had to try it like 3 times.
Now just to reproduce it :)

Erik, Have you tried Vertices Neighborhood Rigidify for the part of the rope you want to hang, and Fixed Vertices for the ends you want to remain in place? I just tried it and with a Vertices Neighborhood Distance greater than 1.0 (I used 1.4), where my average Spring Length (from the Utilities tab) was about 1.4, and the rope itself draped fine and didn't collapse on itself, and the ends stayed fixed.

Thanks Gerald.
Where would I find the documentation by WimVDB? I searched my harddrive and this forum but can't seem to find anything.

Bonjour Gerald. I do like your tutorials, but even though I've used cloth simulations in other software, I'm having difficulty understanding what the settings are in VWD. My basic understanding is that cloth simulations convert cloth into a simple web of masses and springs. And generally "softness" and "stiffness" are just how stiff the springs are. But the other settings, like stiffness by neighborhood, and many of the other settings, are very unclear to me.
It would be great if you had a tutorial that gives a simple graphical model of what each setting represents. I've seen most of your videos, and still I'm not quite sure what exactly the settings do or what effect they have.
Thanks !!

And I even tried two rigged collision objects with one OBJ cloth object and even that works today...strange...
I must have made a dumb setting somewhere. Though I think the first times I tried I set up two collision objects first, then the cloth. And this time I set up a collision, a cloth, and then the second collsion. Maybe that was the problem...

Wow, I just tried it again this morning and it seems to work okay. Maybe I have a default setting that's causing a problem.

Thanks. Im using latest Windows 10, latest non-beta Studio 4.9.3.166, and latest VWD and bridge since I just downloaded them last week for the first time.
To reproduce just add a DS primitive sphere with 20 or so divisions into empty scene, then add a plane with 20 divisions, start VWD, convert sphere to collision, convert plane to cloth, turn off subdivide, and run the sim. On mine it locks with hourglass
