lmckenzie,
I've been searching for a day now and a bit empty handed. I realize the sketch-up models are out there but was hoping for more poser friendly prop blur
benney,
That would be awesome! I'm going up in the 182 on this page:
http://gatewayflyingclub.org/aircraft.html
it is for my movie Insectula! at www.insectula.comÂ
I'm shooting a bunch of shots flying in the plane and then shots from the ground and then trying to match them with renders of it getting attacked by the creature. If it had a disk shaped prop blur that could be posed is all I really need...of course any flaps etc would be great too. I don't have much money but we are in the process of pitching this to several companies for finishing funds so I'm hoping.
You can message me at info@insectula.com

Thread: animating Monsoon's fire | Forum: Vue
Thanks, already asked Geekatplay with no response and have gone through all thier tutorials.
I ended up doing it with a spinning rock with animated lava material grouped to an animated alpha plane I made of a comet trail, flame and sparks and grouped that with several animated lights.
Fairly complex object but looks and moves pretty sweet.

Actually very few animators here. Strange since Vue is so good at it. I'm just going to try to create my own animated planes, just need some kind of tutorial on how to do it.

Thanks, I thought I was just being dumb. Any advice on how one might go about creating an animated meteor with your tools?

do I just put it on the Z? And do the values have to change on the timeline or do I set it once? I thought I already did this and didn't get any animations. You state "All the materials that are procedural are totally animatable"...maybe the material I'm toying with isn't proceedural? I really don't know how to tell... I'm trying with the Meteor1.vob
BTW it looks awesome so far just need to get it to animate.
P.S. I'm a total newb if you couldn't already tell

No I haven't, I don't know about parenting...I will have to read up

Thanks, it's actually a window. I want the object (slug-like) to stay on the one side of the glass but as I move it around it acts as though the glass isn't there...just pushes through it. Is there no way to make an object "solid" so other objects can't pass through them?

Thread: Is e-onsoftware.com and cornucopia3d.com messed up for you? | Forum: Vue
Combating the pirated software is an excercise in futility, ask Adobe and MicroSoft. Also e-on and Cornucopia need to get their act together...this is way too long to be down even with the heaviest DOS attack. BTW those mentioning tracing it are chasing the dragons tail, they are almost always performed with zombie computers...could be yours.

Another thing I do is that I always render to image files so that at differant points in the animation I can tweak the blur settings and resume from that point on if say things arn't moving as much in one point or the other. I do this for other things besides the blur to keep my render times resonable.
I just cut down a 45 hour render to 9 hours by doing this and the animation looks just as good. This render had reflections in the beginning of the animation and once the camera moved to a point past the reflective materials I stopped the animation, turned off the some of the unnecessary settings and resumed.

Adding MB in AE is iffy, I get mixed results. I use Real Smart Motion Blur and still it blurs the background with the object unless you do an alpha. Unfortunately most people on Renderosity don't do animation so sometimes you have to look at Cornucopia 3D or Geekatplay to get more animation advice. Tweeking the blur length in the camera properties and using as few passes in the Hybred 2.5D blur is where you will find your sweet spot.
Thread: stop material from animating | Forum: Vue
Yes I came to the same conclusion that it's the bump map moving. I'm pretty stuck without a clue.
Thread: stop material from animating | Forum: Vue
OK I just redid it from scratch with the same results. I posted the new file up there and rendered it in broadcast and it isn't the flickering...the texture is moving. I looped it so you guys can see better. Very frustrating as I know it's some simple solution that I'm missing

I was testing it out on final, but that certainly seems more than just flickering...did you look at the video?
I'll test my own settings out tonight but i doubt that is it.
