It's like saying
"What an exquisite cake you made"
without tasting it.
The internet is perfect for such behaviour, because you never have to show the expression on your face while making these compliments.
People may think that they are actually helping and encouraging others by doing so. Perhaps that is true in the first few months.
But can you imagine someone baking flat cakes with no salt or with too much sugar for years and nobody telling them?
In my logic that would be "No more cakes for me please, thank you" ;o)

Thread: Taking photo onboard a cruise ship of the landscape | Forum: Photography
Andrew, maybe I don't have the right information about the type of cruise and what and when Tunde is going to photograph. My sister just got back from a cruise on the river Nile in Egypt, so I guess that might have 'blurred' my vision... ;o)

The obvious choice for landscape shots is a wide angle lens, is it not..??? Wide angle also gives you more depth of field; you won't have the need for small apertures, long exposure times or a tripod. In case of fog, a wide angle lens with large aperture (small f-number) can give you fantastic dreamy and moody landscapes. In case you want to experiment more and your photo bag can take it, bring a relatively fast small telezoom and a flash for fill-in light to control the gloomy light conditions.

OK, you're on a roll, you had your exposure, but it's getting kinda monochrome... time to change objectives and get closer to the subject. Would you Leica fisheye for breakfast?

Come on, why so low-key..? No need to blow up the shadow detail! Why not take off that unsharp mask and look at the subject wide open..?

Stop down, please... before they close the curtain or come capture us with their circular blades...
Of course, that may just be my POV...

Sorry to hear that, Bruce. Eventually you will adapt and learn to master the pain... don't underestimate the power of the human body and mind. That being said, I sincerely hope that the pain and suffering will rapidly cease and go away.
All the best,
Geert

There has been another photographer who put it in a slightly different way:

Don't forget the all new Olympus XZ-1...It's getting better reviews and scores than the three cameras in this group review.

Thank you Tofi, Tara and Tom (that's three T's).
I think simplicity can help abstraction quite a bit, but often simplicity is not the easiest thing to achieve...
My personal favorite of the bunch is the rainy window with the lights behind it by Gerard Sexton. Pure abstracts are so difficult to judge though...

Thread: Coking creative system | Forum: Photography
Tunde,
Cokin also has a separate P-size filter holder for wide angle use. It's about six mm shallower than the normal holder. Downside is that it only fits one rectangular filter instead of the three possible filters for a normal filter holder. The slot for the circular (polarizer) filter is also there on both filter holders.
I have both holders for my dSLR camera.
Z-Pro and X-Pro filters can be used for dSLR, but they're mostly used for medium and large format cameras and for video work...

Thank you guys!
It really was a nice surprise. Someone on the 1x.com site pointed out that he had found one of his images copied on another website, and when I looked at the link, I found one of mine too. Totally unexpected, but hey, in this case I don't mind ;o))
Mies, mine is not the image with the great textures and colors, but the monochrome image right beneath it (under my name).
By the way, this image was published on the 1x.com website (clicking on the image will take you there), where it got 21,254 views so far... the version of this image in my gallery here on Renderosity got 76 views. I know that quantity isn't everything, but still that's quite a bit of a difference in exposure...

Hmm... the Myocene period.
Was that before or after Adam and Eve..?
Just kidding, Tom. Fossils and excavations, ruins and all things ancient and historical have always fascinated me. Interesting stuff!
