OK ... I'm still not 100% sure - I'm making a series of low resolution renders (so far no problem - just rendered at 200x100cm/72) and now trying higher res. For me the problem seems to be almost exactly the opposite problem to Avanz, that is, It is crashing when I save to the default pictures/e-on software/Vue..etc address. This has quite a complex path name. When I save direct to my second hard drive (no folders) it seems to be OK (so far). Could it just be the complexity of the path name? (as wabe suggests?)
7.5 is VERY quick (good news!) but also seems very tempermental on a MAC (if I press escape during rendering it crashes!
Thanks anyway for everyones help. I will post up what happens.

OK thanks for that advice. Maybe it is this only write to the default e-on software etc. Is there anyway around this? Saving elsewhere I mean? I will try a few dufferent file types

Thanks very much for that Les. I have emailed you. You're right I definitely don't have the skill or know how by the sound of things to get involved in the Frankenstein approach.
Thanks again
John

Thread: FAIRY/ELF EAR MORPHS | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well to be honest I would still be grateful for some feedback on models. I use V3 and 4 fairly often but I am open to suggestions as to which are the best (realistic as opposed to cartoon or manga-style) fairies. Rebelmommy has been recommended. Any others? Also I wondered whether there were any ear morph packages and whether the ear morphs for these characters can be swopped?
Sorry for all the questions...
any advice gratefully received

Thread: Advice required: Best Fairy figure and best fairy ears? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for that. Any ideas of where to get the best ear morphs? Most fairy ears seem quite crude. I was hoping for weird and elegant - if that makes sense?
Thread: BIG PROBLEM: FATAL ERRORS | Forum: Vue
would it help if I install the latest update of vue infinite? or might that make things worse??
Thread: BIG PROBLEM: FATAL ERRORS | Forum: Vue
OK this is getting very stressful. Complete renders are continuing to fail. Always after 100% is reached and it is writing the file. This is very nervewracking because you don't know until last second. I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!! This happens even when I render specific objects. I can render to screen 'selected areas ' but very small tiles - this will take a long time and will be difficult to put together in photoshop.
Thread: BIG PROBLEM: FATAL ERRORS | Forum: Vue
thanks again agiel - but if I use multipass rendering does that mean i can only render to screen?
Thread: BIG PROBLEM: FATAL ERRORS | Forum: Vue
Thanks agiel I will definately try to follow your advice - I have a few more questions (I apologise if they are obvious). 1] to simplify geometry: I select the object then object/bake to polygons - yes? 2] How do I simplify textures? Do I have to do this in Poser? 3] is there a way to render layers without rendering the sky (whilst keeping the correct lighting)?

I'm saving as psd without alpha mask or depth map - the rendered file is being saved to a HD with 175 GB free space - so should be OK i'd have thought - i'm not sure how you check or change the write access?
