I just rendered to disk an image for a poster at 600 dpi 24x36. Although you actually only need 300 dpi for print I wanted to make it even crisper since it will be so large. The result was great, as was said Bryce does the math for you and although it took me 2 days to render to disk that particular image size, the outcome was well worth it. It's always better to render at the required size or larger because let's face it you can always scale down but you can't scale up.
Thread: Why I like Bryce | Forum: Bryce
I agree with you all. I have been using Bryce for about 2 years now and have recently rediscovered it after putting it away for a while while tring other programs and I must say for ease of usablility and diversity it can't be beat. Although I do agree that it definitly needs some sort of modeler like splines etc. All in all it's a powerful program that can only get better and will if the folks at Corel take developing this program to it's full potential to heart. Michael =)
Thread: Amapi modeler | Forum: Bryce
I have posted the same problem. I currently use bryce4 and poser. 2 months ago I purchased Ray Dream for basically nothing for modeling but it exists no more so support is harder to come by. I have narroed my choises to True Space4 or lightwave6. From what you have told me True Space is your best choice for the main reason that its easy to learn on and it has a very good render engine. I have been getting alot fo good feedback from True Space users, but since I am currently a student and I can get a good discount I will be getting Lightwave in the comming months. I have found educational version of lightwave for $780 online and True Space for about $300. Since I want to get into 3d animation and modeling I decided to get Lightwave because of it's great rendering engine and capabilities. Good luck on the search, Lilmikee
Thread: What's this Poser Patch fix??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Try exporting an object as an .obj or 3ds. You should get a different popup menu for exporting the object with more options for exporting the object, like exporting texture with the object.
Thread: HELP?! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
bump maps are in black and white aka grayscale to give texture to materials. White is height and black is flat. So if your texture is for an orange then take the texture map template for the orange and make the bacjground black and the orange fill white spopts for bumpy texture for the skin and black for no raised texture. Hope this helps. Lilmikee
Thread: Trouble loading Poser 4.02 Update | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually I fixed my problem. I was just copying the new files into the appropraie poser program directory folders and letting the system overwrite the existing files. That didn't work. I deleted the old files and placed fresh new ones in poser directories. That seemed to fix the problem. I guess the key was to delete the old ones and install the new ones.
Thread: Lightning??? Is it do able? | Forum: Bryce
I have made lightning bolts in Bryce using terrains. I create a terrain and edit it. I create new terrain and draw a lightning bolt or comet or whatever shape i want it to be and apply fire texture to it and color using lights or ambiant color. Works for doing good comets and meteors should work well for lightning and streaks of light. I'll give it a try and find out.

Get Bryce4 the you won't have to worry about the problem of lighting. I don't know about Bryce2 but in Bryce 4 you can use spot lighting or radial lighting. It's not that much money for the program or upgrade now and if you know 2 then learning 4 probably won't be any problem.
Thread: Anybody around with a SHARK obj for Bryce 4??? | Forum: Bryce
What do you want a hammerhead or Great White... I have poser sharks that I can make 3ds for you or obj?
Thread: rendering time for large picturesin Bryce 4 | Forum: Bryce
Also btw, I recently got rds about 2 months ago because it was a great price in order to create models for poser or bryce. Is there any good cd tutorials out there for it since it's hard to find stuff for it now that it doesn't exist anymore?

You are able to save image as 300 dpi for printing. I recently had the same problem and was told to go to file and select render to disk and there you can set your resolution. Hope this helps...
Thread: Need Help on a basic water scene | Forum: Bryce
If you have Bryce, which I guess you do since you are in this Forum it should be easy. Just select the ground plane and click edit and select waters and you select teh water you want and walla instant ocean. create a terrain and smooth it out and flatten the y scale enlarge so it covers teh bottom portion of your scene and walla instant beach once you apply desert material. If you don't have that then maybe you could do one in photoshop or something. good luck, Lilmikee
Thread: Can you export image at higher resolution that 72dpi. | Forum: Bryce

I took an online 3Dclass as part of my computer graphic design certificate at Montgomery College in MD.and the instructor Harry St.Ouirs uses self made cd textbooks for his courses. the 3D class he taught uses Byrce4. It is excellent and will teach you all the basics easily and percicely and runs using your web browser (all html foramatted). Graphics with text explaining in detail what each section is on. Highly recomended. I still fall back to it for reference still. You can get his cd's at www.livingtextbook.com
Thread: WIP - scene illustration for project "Death's Hero" | Forum: Bryce
The scene looks good.Although I think the lighting could use some more work. the two by the pillars look a bit too sharp compared to the rest of the scene. Also the wall or the pillars could use some aging somehow with the texture (looks too new).
