Right off the bat, I would say you're being overly-cautious... but the more I think about it... Including the Ibanez logo will probably violate something, but I don't think they could fault you for using that particular model as "inspiration". I could be wrong.
Thread: How many ways to get around CROSSTALK | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There's a link in the DAZ faqs to a great "Millenium Null" figure. Very easy to use. 1) Load the Null Figure 2) Select the "BODY" of the Null Figure 3) Load a Millenium Character 4) Wash. Rinse. Repeat. (actually, don't load another Null Figure, just select the "BODY" again) Completely eliminates cross-talk, which I've never really had much trouble with anyways. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Sorry about the comment. I believe it's a little more understanding than some members will be. Sometimes I let the mentality of the forums get to me! ;) The comment is directly addressing the fact that you traded for the software. I just know that when I pay over 200 bucks for something, I like to keep the user materials also... but your friend is not you and I'm glad you've got an interest in Poser and have obtained the software! Welcome! As for checking on the models provided, I asked the exact same question. My answer also applies to Michael and Vicki if you decide to upgrade your library in the future. Generally, anything you pay money for you can use commercially, but its always good to read the fine print. Mostly, you'll find creators of free stuff will limit you unless you contact them for permission, which is fair by all means. Here's some links to help you get the most out of the default Poser bunch! http://www.digitalbabes2.com/ - FREE REALISTIC HAIR AND TUTORIAL http://www.morphworld30.com/ - WONDERFUL SITE WITH MORPHS AND THE AMAZING EVE AND AZURA CHARACTERS (ALSO FREE!) http://www.daz3d.com - SIGN UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER AND GET A NEW FREE MODEL EVERY WEEK (USUALLY VERY HIGH QUALITY). ALSO A TERRIFIC STORE.
Thread: Help! First Time Making a Transparency Map | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Here's an idea that looks good on paper: You could always use the group tool to delete the top parts of the catsuit figure... then you wouldn't need to worry about the transmap at all. Deleting segments isn't as versatile as a transmap would be, but if you're just slicing off the top of the suit, it might work better.

Sounds shady, but to answer your question: those models are royalty-free. If they are distributed in "render form" (as in, pictures of the models), you won't be infringing any copyrights. However, you are not free to distribute the models themselves, in whole or part.

Thread: OT but virus alert..is this a new one. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, that's pretty scary. Are you sure the virus scan didn't just pick up on some "harmless" spyware? I haven't heard about this yet. There are some Internet Explorer security holes that have been corrected recently (versions 5.5 and 6.0, which comes stock with XP, are affected). If you're running an unpatched browser of any type, you might be susceptable to viruses-by-pop-up.
Thread: Shadow questions in Poser - NOT THE USUAL BG IMAGE PROBLEMS! =) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I will definitely try saving some of the objects as props and inserting them back into the scene. I hadn't tried that since I saw the trouble with the Lava Bar (where you can either load the PZ3 file OR add everything individually, no shadows no matter what on those objects). Just to clarify, not having trouble with shadows, period. Just shadows on specific things. I even tried putting a primitive "inside" the imported mesh (to at least get SOME kind of shadow) and it STILL didn't cast a shadow. Those things are damned black holes! =) The only free stuff I can name off the top of my head was that toilet and the sink, and even the toliet-paper roll... but they seemed to have disappeared. Dont remember the artist off the top of my head, but it was Nojasto or something like that. See, these objects won't cast shadows while other objects in the scene (specifically Poser people and basic objects like cubes used for walls) will without any problems. I will definitely try saving these objects as props and reloading them. I had neglected to try that since I assumed it wouldn't work, based on my experience with the Lave Bar. Can you tell I'm sour on that? hehehe
Thread: Shadow questions in Poser - NOT THE USUAL BG IMAGE PROBLEMS! =) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, mostly trouble with 3DS objects, but then I noticed it happens on OBJ stuff too. Specific examples: the sink and toilet that USED to be available in free stuff here. They come packaged with both 3DS and OBJ formats... no shadows on either. Also, if anyone owns the Lava Bar, they should be able to see what I'm talking about. Forget about the render and light settings... they are fine.

Thread: Why Do Poser Figures Render Like Wood In Bryce? | Forum: Bryce
Yikes, Poser looks worlds above Bryce here. Of course, if you fooled with the material lab settings, you could probably out-render Poser and get a much more realistic picture in Bryce (ambience settings and what not). It actually looks like there is NO TEXTURE on the hair in that Bryce render. Don't mean to pick a fight, =) just adding my two cents. For the record, I think Poser does a great job with rendering (especially motion blur in Pro Pack) and the engine is far too often "written-off" as a non-professional toy. You could say, Poser produces excellent quality relative to the work/time you put into it.

Thread: Really really dumb question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Darn it, I was hoping to nail it on the head. The dials are definitely the way to go, I just assume everyone uses them! =) Anyways, yeah, whenever my saved PZ3 files start acting up (which I rarely use anyways), I save all my characters into the character library and start over, so to speak.
Thread: Help! Poser kills my XP laptop and Win2K PC | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I also had an nVidia card and when I first installed XP, it SEEMED to be working... I stress 'SEEMED'. Yes, definitely update those drivers, makes a WORLD of a difference.
Thread: Really really dumb question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Here some dumb answers: =) Make sure you have the 4.03 patch for Poser. Solves even the most seemingly unrelated problems. Sounds like if "everything moves" you may be moving the camera, EVEN INDIRECTLY. If I'm not mistaken, the POSING CAMERA moves along WITH the subject, so if you move Posette A on the X axis, her POSING camera moves with her. Try using the MAIN or DOLLY camera. I prefer the DOLLY camera. If all else falls, you may want to export your Poser Person as an individual CR2 file (just save to the characters library) and import into a fresh scene with the patio. Hope this helps. Good luck. We could always use another picture in the gallery. Pay no mind to the nay-sayers...
