Thread: Alpha channels in material room | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, Angel. Alpha channels are bw. I think what R_hatch was referring to is the fact that the channel is part of an RGB image, hence the need for extraction and conversion.

No. I am not a MAC user. I moved the scripts into the proper script directory and am now getting different errors. ::perplexed shrug::
Thanks for your concern

This looks very useful but I can't get this script to work.  "Input file not found".

Any suggestions.Â
could it be I don't have something installed?
Thank you

Hmmm. I admit Poser is not my area of expertise, so take my comments as being from a non-expert. It seems to me a blender material would mix the 2 nodes so that you would have both materials present to some degree. Like in your example, you have some skin and some lace. So that beneath the lace, you can still see the skin. Everyplace you have lace, you still have skin to some degree or another.
Staying with your example, my questions was could you have all lace(no skin beneath) in some areas of the image and all skin in other areas. More precisely I was asking if you could have certain parts of an image appear as totaly opaqe and other parts totaly transparent. In some apps (3ds max for example) you could use one image (usually a tiff) that drives the diffuse node and the transparency node. This is done by using the TIFF's alpha chanel to tell the pgm which parts of the image are to be transparent and which parts are to be opaque.
I hope I am making myself clear, but it might be hard to conceptualize if you've never seen.
Again, my apologies if I am misunderstanding you. If so, it is probably because you know much more about poser than I do.
Thank you very much for your time.

Thank you so much. I thought this was going to be of scarce selection, but I see, once again, the knowledge of this community comes to the rescue.

Ah-ha! Thanks to you both for the information. Have to go now. I hear the cloth room calling my name. Thanks again
Thread: dynamic clothes limits? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks DC. Yes. I think it does make sense. One thing you said raises another question for me. I am using the dynamic clothing in a still image--not an animation. Therefore, I set the end frame to 2...instead of 30. I wanted to do this so I would have to render only 2 frames and not the full 30. Does it make a difference how many frames there are between the first frame(zero pose) and the final frame(end result)? In my case, there was only one frame between these 2 points.
Thread: p6 lace bra for jessi problem? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well thanks for the tip, LD. Let me display my ingnorance. Is the geometry file you speak of an. obj? If so in what folder does it reside? I am just returning to poser after a many year absence, and though I could never say I carried the P4 file structures around in my head, what little I did know has been forgotten. Thanks again. It was driving me a bit batty, since I saw all the texture maps in the material room and was certain that was the problem. Little did I know how little I knew.

Thread: So mad about Poser 6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Isn't it a shame though, that with such a large user base and so many users available and willing to test Poser b4 its release that CL never thought to take advantage of it. With all the cumulative hours of aggravation compiled by so many users, I think it is truly a shame that CL apparently rushed a prdcuct to market before its time. Top notch software should not be plagued by so many problems. There is a better way. Ask Adobe or Discreet
Thread: What's the newest version of Bryce these days? | Forum: Bryce
Max will accept 3ds and I believe Bryce exports in that format. Bryce will certainly export obj, but depending on the version of max you are using, you may need an import plugin. The plugin is free (there are 2..one for exporting and one for importing). Just google it and you'll find it. Remember the plugins are version specific so get the one for the version of max you are running.
