ok thanks all , i sent them a message last night before i went to sleep and recieved a reply, they said it was Erato Hair. going to check it out. The saphire fox hair is nice too, didn't know there were addons for it i'll have to check that out too. One hair i like is the elite pony hair, but i can't seem to get it to work in poser

Thread: Content tab is blank in DS4pro | Forum: DAZ|Studio
i find that this usually happens after you save a scene. I have to exit the program and restart it to see the content again.

what i dont like about daz3d 4 :
setting up lights and skin textures is very long and time consuming process and end result is almost never as good as Poser's default render.......
Lack of "open recent files" in the file menu. This seemed like a no brainer
When you save a scene file, going back to your content directory sometimes doesn't show any content (empty directories). you have to exit the app and start it again to see the content.
What I like:
-Content library that lets you organize your content properly
-Doing animations was fairly easy to understand... though the available animations packages are a bit goofy (ie, had to struggle finding a decent walking animation that didnt look retarded)

ok thanks all for the tips, other than adjusting the render settings in daz3d i didnt change anything else, so i was using the defaults. it looks like I have a lot of reading to do about using lights and surface shading.

thanks wimvdb, will check it out.
@vilters i'm not sure about the daz3d content resource manager eating resources since i dont notice any issues or slowness on my machine when running it (dell desktop intel i5 sandy bridge 8gb ram)

Thread: Installing and Locating Content Frustration | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - I've been using: C:UsersRalynneDocumentsDAZ 3DStudioMy Library and from there putting things into the relevant sub-directories... Within the program Content Library may show something, but when I try to use it, it doesn't load...and nothing shows up in the Smart Library it doesn't show much other than what was preloaded... The biggest problem is the hair files...I can handle the crappy preload clothes....but the hair! It'll show in Content Library, but won't load it and I'm not sure why...
i had the same problem but i figured it out mostly....
when you buy something like a hair, first make sure that what you bought is actually the hair figure and not just an extension of it (ie, hair style or colors)
After you install it, be sure to look at the readme file at the end, that is where they will tell you where the files are. Basically, I would goto "Poser Format"->My Library->Figures in the content library UI and look for the actual hair to click on to add to the model. Then once that is done, goto "Poser Format"->My Library->Pose directory and try to find the mats for it. Of course some quarky merchants lilke to put their stuff in different directories like "Materials" etc, so you may have to check them if you can't find anything.
I almost never look in the "Daz3d Format" directories unless I bought something made only for Daz3d.
Hope that helps
