LOL, I've been checking their site every hour on the hour since 11 p central time. Hoping I'd be the first to snag the patch, and maybe even purchase Carrara Studio. Evidently they are doing something, I hear that some people have already ordered. I think we're both jumping the gun, but it better be up today or I'll just wait longer.

It's all solved, it wasn't a problem at it. Just my bleeding oversight! Under the winodw menu is an option... Single Window Mode Guess what it does.. :) Sigh, I hate when I miss something so simple, to think all this time... ahwell live and learn. Don't be too hard on me. Off to shader land!!! Later.

That's awfully generous of you, thanks! I'm hoping that the pending patch will clear things up though. If not I'm gonna un/reinstall, but I'd hate to have to dig through my HD to reload all my extensions and shaders! Later.

Thanks for your reply, I'll try to explain my sitution better. I am talking Carrara, the setup options only appear if you choose custome (if I remember correctly of course.) On W95 I was able to have 2 shaders open in the texture room at the same time and see them both and drop and drag between them. But now on my NT machine I only have access to one shader at a time in the texture room, although it looks indeed like I do have multiple shaders open for they appear in window menu. When I use the window menu the positions of the shaders I'm working on change as if I had invisible overlapping shaders open, I just can't see them at the same time. Am I making any sense, should I start over trying to explain? Thanks.

I to have registerd 3 times, and I've signed up for several of Eovia's mailing lists. And yet, nothing. I hope this won't cause trouble when I try to get the update!! I wonder why Eovia doesn't put the newsletter on their site, since they evidently have trouble maintaing a mailing list.

Back to the spline modeler, I was able to almosst recreate it using the spline modler, but I can't get the ends non-parallel,is it possible to rotate the plane that holds the last cross-section? I can kinda do it with the sprial function, specifing the number of turns to less than 1, say .25, but it adds a curve that I don't want and I can't get rid of it. I'm not sure why I'm still interested in doing it the spline modeler, since the vertex method worked so well, maybe I'm just manic?

I'm amazed! Thanks to the sugestions and Carrara's PDF help files I was able to make the shape in no time flat! I created two ovals on the same plane one with a larger diameter, duplicated both, moved and rotated one set, then lofted all 4, detached the inner polygons and deleted them, and presto!! WOW, Lofting is fantastic, I've been playing with it all night. I've been intimated by the vertex modler for the longest time, but I'm not gonna let that hold me back any longer. Thanks.

Right on! That's amazing, far better than mine. Thanks. I just discovered that a part of my problem was my wall was made of primitve cubes and the brick function didn't work on it at large sizes. I remade the wall with splines and now the bricks tile correctly

I've been using the brick function from digital carvers but am having a hard time to get it to look natural, i've been using it in conjuction of clints rocks/bone/duster shaders and litst beachsand/mountain shader which rock, so i have the texture of the bricks and mortar looking good, but am having trouble with DCG brick function to tile correctly. My wall is a primitive cube, would it work better if export it and UV map it?
