Okay it's been more than 24 hours since the link to Daz Studio 4.5 has not worked. Which is okay, I can understand this is a big transitional period and there's lots of stuff that needs to be done.
But if anyone from DAZ3D is reading this, could you PLEASE change the message/post that's associated with the link and write something like:
A: Temporarily Unavailable
B: No longer available
Something, anything! PLEASE?!?!
Thank you!~
Thread: What happened to Daz Studio 4.5 ? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - I already had a 'canary in the coal mine' boot partition (Mac Lion; mostly I still run Snow Leopard) and so deployed DS 4.5 there. With limited testing, it seems to be stable; haven't crashed it yet. And it does 'feel' faster, but I may not be pushing it hard enough to tell. I'm cautiously optimistic, and hope to find some time to play with it more.
Are there any new features that seem "really cool" and worth getting?

Quote - You could contact individual vendors and ask for permission to do this, explaining it s a decoration for your own private use. They might give you permission and then all you have to worry about is if poser models can actually be printed.
Yes, I think is the easiest and cheapest way to go about this. And of course I would need to check with Daz to see if it's okay to 3D Print good ole Vicki.

Quote - I think some of the comments made sound absolutly insane! If you were proposing to make a production run, and sell the things, then there might be some sense to all this legalistic crap, but for one item to put on your own shelf? Come on folks get real!
I agree. But if the 3D Printing companies refuse to create these models because of legal issues it won't get me very far either.
And besides I'll barely have enough money to have a model made, let alone to go out and hire an attorney for something this insignificant.
I'm all for respecting artists' property and rights, but really is there a big difference if I print out a Poser/Daz character on a sheet of paper, hang it on my wall or print it out as a 3D model and put it on my shelf?

Quote - I am interested in 3D printing but Poser is probably not the software best "designed" to do this - although STL export was encouraged at some time during the E-Frontier days of Poser.Â
From what I've read so far, it seems that for best results the Poser figure needs to be exported to another program (one of several) and then THAT program's exported file is the one used to make a 3D Print. I still haven't figured out all the details because I've been sidetracked by this whole legal issue.

Well okay if it's not allowed then I won't pursue it. But in the link you posted, Kalypso, the thread didn't say anything about being against the license. In fact one of the messages posted a link to a company's website forum where they were discussing the best way to prepare Poser figures for 3D printing. The only mention about licensing came up with a concern about using 3rd party figures (like clothing) and only if you intended to sell the 3D print...which I don't.
Well I'll have to check it out further, so now I have two things to find out...one is if it's allowed and two if it's even worth trying.
Thanks for your responses, I appreciate it.

Quote - And then there is dynamic hair and wind dynamics.
I never got into dynamic hair and clothing. They take too long to render, and as my wife loves to point out constantly, I'm not a patient man.
Actually I wouldn't mind using dynamic hair for a single render, but usually my work involves online comics or animation requiring lots and lots of renders. I would go insane!

Wasn't the 4th of July when they invented fireworks in New Yok City ?
I think we should change the 4th of July holiday name from Independence Day to "Let's Do Fireworks, And Try Not to Blow Off any Fingers or Limbs Day"

I'm saying that the payment system is working now, and has been for some time. If you have problems from when the payment gateway was down then open a support ticket so that they can be resolved.
Thanks for keeping us informed Richard. And I apologize for any drama-queen theatrics I might have hurled your way - Although I wasn't aiming directly at you, but in the general direction of DAZ, the company. And hopefully you'll understand that seeing a third of your checking account disappear, there's bound to be some panic in there.
Thank you.
Oh, and perhaps in the future, DAZ might consider a better system of warning potential customers of trouble. As stated before, not all of us read the forums.

Quote - Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. USA
Remembrance ... mourning ... respect
NOT party on .. not an excuse for a barbecue ... not just to have a 3 day weekend.
Well don't feel too bad about that, we've pretty much made a mockery of every national holiday. And look what we've done with Christmas, we've turned the birthday of Jesus Christ into an insane month long shopping orgy. (and I'm not even Christian)
I'm also distressed to learn that most younger folks don't even know the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.

Quote - @ pzrite: I'll add my thanks to those already expressed. I'd been about to make a purchase at the store ansd was unaware of the issues they were/are having. Perhaps I'll wait for a while and see if things improve. Cheers.
Your welcome, glad I could help prevent any problems you may of had.
Probably the safest thing to do is wait until at least Tuesday.
