Not quite sure if this is off topic, considering where the discussion is going, but I was wondering how you guys get the lights to reflect off the figure.
Thread: Any Idea's what's being fixed for P8 SR1? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - For me, there is a problem with the library displaying correctly on my mac. Apparently it don't like Snow Leopard. Other folks have commented on this too. Whenever you refresh, you get a different number by the folder. Refresh long enough and Poser 8 will crash. I think this is just mac specific.
EDIT: Could this be related to a memory leak problem or is this strictly a flash problem do you think?
It's not Mac exclusive. I'm running Win XP and having the same problems.

Quote - > Quote - was something fixed about the material room? will it be fast like in poser 7?
:)
They know it's slow and are working on it. They also know the vast majority of users do not work with complex shaders. This is one of those tough calls:
1) Release SR1 now because it fixes so much else including crashes, searches, and the tiny thumbnails
or
2) Make everybody wait until the material room editing speed is optimized
Since everybody likes to play "product manager wannabe", what would you do?
If you do #1, then a bunch of people will scream "You have no respect for users, you ship crap too early".
If you do #2, then a bunch of people will scream "You are morons - so slow with critical updates - you suck because P8 crashes on me."
#1, so you get the majoority of users up and runing again, and release an annoucement saying the Metrial room fix is on it's way.
Thread: Import Script Doesn't Work | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Lucifer, but that seems to be Mac related and I'm using PC. I also have to wonder if I use the script won't my collections be useless as all teh shortcuts are pointing to the P7 directory?

Thread: Poser 8 strife | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's not closing down Poser after it's done though. It specificly says it will "kill" the app (quote marks thiers) When I hit okay it instantly shuts down. There's no writing of anything and nothing gets imported.
Wonderful. Just opened up P8 to check that, and IE has now decided there's a bug in some script somewheres. (Never did that before) Is this something else I have to look forward too in teh future: random script errors?
Thread: Poser 8 strife | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I tried the import script. It brings up a dialog box that tells me running the script will crash the program and asks if I want to continue. If I do, guess what happens, the program crashes. That they even included this warning box makes me believe that they knew the script wasn't 100%
Thread: Why even put Minimum System Requirements? Poser 8 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
1) You don't need IE7 to run Poser 8. The library works just as well if you have IE 6 on your system. I hate to think anyone would go through the hassle of an unecessacary upgrade just because they think Poser 8 won't run without it.
2) You need way more than than 2 or even 4 gig of harddrive space because Poser stores a ton of stuff on your main harddrive. If you don't have a lot of space, it will not be stable.
Thread: Poser 8 can't see any librarys/runtimes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
IS there an entry in the Zone Alarm programs list for 127.0.0.1? That's part of Poser 8 as well.
Thread: Poser 8 can't see any librarys/runtimes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You don't need to turn off Zone Alarm completely. Just open it up (click on teh little Z in the task bar) click on program control on the lefdt hand side, and then on programs, find Poser Executable file in the list, click on the question marks or X's and select allow.
See bagginsbill post a few slots up for the explanation.

On another related note, anyone know of a script out there that can change all my shotcuts to point to the Poser 8 folder directory instead of teh Poser 7. I'd like to move everything over and clear P7 off my machine. (Saddly the python importing script only seems to cash P8)
Thread: Poser 8 can't see any librarys/runtimes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Finally got it working. But I have to allow the program full access to the internet in Zone Alarm, not just server access. That concerns me a bit as I don't see why Poser needs an internet connection unless I go to content paradise. I know that may sound doom and gloomy, but in today's software neighborhood, spyware is a legitamate concern.

"Also, verify that the LSMGUI/bin-release folder is listed as a trusted Flash application folder."
How do we do that?
