Thread: Millennium Figure Morph Transfer/Vertex Compatibilty | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
well if the mesh is the same..why not just export the head you like out as a morph target...and then import it back as a morph target for the regular vicky..with everything else set to zero and the new morph set to "1" it should give you the face you want with just one dial turn, should it not?then you just have to work on the adult body till it fits what you wanted...seems easy enough,or am i missing something here?[possible :) ]
Thread: What's the best 3D Program to Make Clothers & Props to use with Poser. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yeah these days almost everything can do almost anything,it's about what you prefer as much as anything, what you're comfortable using ummm are you sure about lightwave?poser models are ".obj" this is the native lightwave format.i believe, the original poser models are products of lightwave..it's sorta like ".3ds" is native to 3dsmax...lightwave should be able to import and use poser .obj's with no problem at all..if not there must be a plugin that allows it...
Thread: Glowing V3 Problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
looks like it's still got the highlight color turned on..it's not pure black so while it's invisible it's still showing highlights..it happens sometimes, just make sure the highlight color in the mat editor for any transparent parts is 0,0,0..pure black..should fix it
Thread: FREE Planets | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
there are just three sphere's..one inside the other, each slightly smaller than the one before it,all parented together in poser and saved as a prop the smallest one is the planet itself. it gets the main colour map and it's complimentary bump map the next one is slightly larger and gets the cloud map and it's transparency map[think i also stuck the trans map in the bump slot] the third is slightly bigger still and is just a solid light blue in both the object and ambient slots without any maps.transparency max at 100%,min at around 35%,and a low "transparency falloff" setting in the mat editor..which makes it clear towards the center and blue as it approaches the edges..shadow casting is off for this sphere... the sphere's themselves are just that, sphere's. allthough they come from 3dsmax and have more segments than the poser defaults, and are a fair bit more round because of it,you could just as easily use the ones that come with poser or from any other program, allthough close up's might look a little "chunkier" than this one with the poser defaults :)
Thread: Another Body Studio and Poser question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
i really have no idea...BUT, discreet is very tight with the .max format...there's really no other software that i know of that can open a max file besides 3dsmax...and i don't think poser has anywhere near the capability to handle all that you could throw together in max scene...all the modeling variables etc..i don't see how poser could open it or really why you would even want too, even if the format was readily available

sorta like this ockham? rendered in p4,it's just three nested speres[not the low rez poser ones tho]a bit of messing around with the mat editor and...tada! maps are availabe at the link. it works great as a prop if not the central focus of an image...looks GREAT getting whacked by a baseball bat, held in the hand, gazed at intently etc...Thread: Poser animation problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
hmmm "high compression" and "quality" just don't go together...i think maybe you got it backwards?for high quality you want to turn compression off...most other apps like photoshop, paint shop pro etc do a much better job of compressing images...
Thread: I got a secret! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yup i'm in agreement with that..i have my screen set to 1024x768...and scrolling sucks.from working on other folks systems,i know A LOT of folks set thier's even lower...the general average is probably 800x600,allthough it might be higher around here with the more visually/artistically inclined population. paint shop pro has a similar option to photoshop btw...alltho it works a bit oddly... load your image>go to the file menu> choose "export" and from there you can get the wizards that do jpeg, gif and png optimization/compression..the compression setting is variable and you can see the before and after to check for artifacts, also tells you the resulting file size and approximate download times for different connection speeds.

it never hurts to optimize things..and winXP is a hog :) this is the best page i've found for finding out what all these services do and which you can safely kill to take some of the load off of your computer... http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
Thread: V3..does this happen to everyone?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
ok maybe i should clear this up a bit...it's disturbing but in a bizarre unexpected way..not in a "OMG what's wrong with me?get me to therapist" kinda way :)...it IS pretty funny to me as well,or i certainly never would have posted about it! and yes my sister and i do look quite a bit alike, there's not much doubt that we're brother and sister when we're standing next to each other...i don't think anyone would ever think otherwise.i may have a direction to take that figure in now, but it's just not at all the one i was thinking about when i started...it's not really an exact match,it's just that in order to really "un vicky" v3 you gotta make some fairly big changes...so in the absense of some reference to work from, where do you move the eyes too?the mouth? etc...as i think we're all saying, where you think it's normal, which is where they are on the face you're most familiar with, you're own!i was just a little unprepared for the gaze looking back at me from the screen to seem so very familiar...maybe i should email the pic to my brother in law!get his thoughts on it...or maybe not..this is just all getting too weird :) i did save the file, but i think i may have to start the face over the next time i open it :)
Thread: Test posting poser divx (nudity) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
link works fine...allthough i had to update my divx player before it would play...the audio played but the video just stuck on the first frame with the older version pretty impressive composite with a little more natural body shaping, some "jiggle" and a better texture it'd actually be pretty hard to spot...care to share a bit about just how you went about doing that?
Thread: Makeing back-up copy of Poser...iso?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
iso is a standard,it's like was said already an exact copy of the disc all in one big file..with everything in it's proper place...most standalone burner progs like nero will handle it fine. for most cd's copying either way will give you a useable back up..iso comes in handy for cd's that are a bit more complicated...for instance bootable cd's like winXP/win2k etc. a straight file copy of these cd's will work fine from within windows but it won't be much good if you have no OS or need to get into the repair console...you can't see everything that is on the disc to copy it,to get the boot sector you need a bit for bit copy,ISO gives you that. there are other advantages in certain situations as well,if you need to keep a copy of a cd on your hardrive for later burning then it's all in one big file...or if you need to burn multiple copies of the same cd you have a single "source file" and don't have to keep selecting/copying the original cd/files everytime you need to make a copy...it's also been known to get around some types of weaker copy protection and generate a useable disc where a straight file copy fails to get whatever is hidden on the disc. for most stuff a straight file copy is fine...but i always use an image file like an iso..if you're gonna make a copy..why not make an exact copy?it's usually just as easy and sometimes quicker
Thread: What's your Poser's partner like? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
fuzz???while i can't speak for maya...in max textures are given a slight blur by default...look under the relevant map's 'properties' subsection in the material editor make sure "blur" is set to zero...not 1.0!there are also other subsections that can affect how things look..the "supersampling" roolout in the same mat editor can have an effect..as can your renderer settings..AA settings?motion blur if it's an animation..OR if it's a single frame of a multiple frame file??? ...max has all the flexibility that poser doesn't just as you say...if things are blurring there's likely a setting that's doing it or a setting to fix it if you look long enough :)
