I agree with Spanki...
I can't get to your scripts page with Internet Explorer... it's blank.
I switched to Netscape Navigator as my browser and that worked.
You might want to check into your web code.
Thread: what is wrong with this pic? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I only skimmed the responses, so I don't know if this was mentioned (I know many other good things were):
Depth of field is important, and you should put it at the top of your list.
A camera generally shows us sharp focus on objects in a relatively narrow slice of space (depending primarily on apperture and lens factors).
This generally means far background objects and close foreground objects should be out-of-focus to some degree. Our eyes and our subconscious immediately pick up on a scene where there is supposed to be depth, yet everything is in sharp focus as "fake". This kills the illusion of realism.
You can do this inside the render (warning -- increases render time a great deal) or you can chaet it after the render by adding selective blurring to objects yourself.

"Yeah, but it doesn't flow off the tongue! "

I prefer the romantic term, "hyperturgid lactomammilial perturbances".
But that's just the sentimentalist in me.
Thread: Can anyone else load that damn casino sports car? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I loaded it ... finally.
It is nice, but yeah, it is a hugely heavy model.
When I renderered it however, all of the metal body surfaces were 100% black.
The interior and windows rendered more normally. And the render took a long time.
I didn't have time to look into the issue when it happened, had to move on.
I'd be interested to know if this happens to others as well.

Yeah, I really think it's pretty unrealistic to think they're doing this in the actual order that we placed our preorders. I'm another who ordered fairly early and haven't heard a thing yet.
Instinct and anecdotal evidence here strongly suggest that theory is out the window already. Now, whatever order they are doing this in... is anybody's guess. I'm sure they're swamped and working overtime to stay on top of everything today, I can only imagine the hassles they're facing to get this going.
It would be nice, however if those of us who ordered the download would actually be able to download sometime before the shipped boxes arrive...
Thread: Please explain Matchmover uses and limits | Forum: Vue
Matchmover isn't designed to be a photo-modeller, it's a "match mover"... in the industry, this means taking real-world film or video footage, tracking a large number of 2D points on that moving image, and the using the data from those 2D tracks to mathematically compute a "virtual camera" that closely approximates what the "real world" camera that took the background footage was like in terms of position and movement.
This is useful to have because once you have a matchmoved "virtual camera", you can then add rendered 3D objects of your own that will seem to be in perfect synch with moving backround footage. You would most likely use it when attempting a special effects shot merging foreground non-real 3D object(s) with a real-world moving image background.
Without a proper matchmove, your fake foreground objects would "float" ... not moving in proper synch with the motion present in the background footage.
You provide the models and the rendering engine of your own, usually through a package like Maya, Max, Lightwave, Vue, etc. What matchmover provides is an amazingly good 2D tracker and 3D camera calculation for them.
Thread: in the P6 material room... | Forum: Poser Technical
I appreciate the suggestion, but I think you've misunderstood my need here:
I'm talking about inverting colors in a node (like a photographic negative) in the process of building a shader tree. Useful for things like making a bump map out of a color image where you want the dark areas raised instead of the light areas (just to give one example).
Your answer suggests I was trying to fix something that was in error and/or geometry related, when in actuality I'm trying to modify existing images and/or other shader nodes before they get to the final output shader where your checkbox is.
Probably my bad for not explaining the problem better.
Anyway, my solution above works for my needs.
Thread: in the P6 material room... | Forum: Poser Technical
Answered my own question... I used the subtract math node with "1" in the value 1 place and the image plugged into value 2.
Still seems like there ought to be an "invert" selection among the standard math functions, though.
Thread: Now I am really crying!!! ----->Displacement maps | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The difference, as I understand it:
A bump map takes information from a black and white extra map and applies a bend to the direction surface normals of the geometry are pointing. This can "fake" the appearance of a raised or dented surface up to a limit.
A displacement map uses a simlar setup, but does not just tweak the normals, it actually moves the surface geometry by an amount indicated by the range from white to black on the map. This is going to produce a more realistic roughening of a surface, likely at the cost of more computing power and render time.

Thank you karen and especially Acadia, these tutorials are closer to the kind of thing I was hoping for. I appreciate your help.
Thread: Complete, current product prep for sale tutorial? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Not really... this is the selling guidelines page I mentioned I'd already seen.
This does go in depth about how to package the final item and the readme files to include, BUT what I really meant was information on the technical aspect before that part -- namely, a tutorial answering the question, if I've created a facial shape (or full body poses) I like for V3, how do I save it in such a way that I can submit it for sale? I'm thinking there are legal and correct ways to do this, and that doing it wrong results in packaging 3d model information you're not supposed to (even though I know V3 is free now). Something that deals with that along with how to create injection/removal files, and any tips and tricks on making sure its compatible with the most possible systems for customers, etc. Maybe I'm overcomplicating things, but somehow I think there's more to it that copying one face pose file, adding some readme files and sales photos and sending it in. It's a whole itemized walkthrough of that process I'd really like to see.

Thread: How long for Vue 6 payment validation? | Forum: Vue
Still waiting to hear from e-on (now on Monday morning)...
Well, I dunno if this helps anyone puzzle it out, but I am "sidegrading" from my current Vue 5i to Vue6xtsream (to integrate with my 3DSudio Max 8). I think that the suggestion that they have to manually look up my serial (for Vue 5i) may be right -- though I really don't understand why, since the number was entered and accepted when I placed the order ... it matches my previous purchase record on file with them already. The holdup appears just to be, as it says, "validating payment". My credit is good... bought other stuff online elsewhere recently with no problem. Sigh.
Thread: Poser 6 animations not playing in VUE 6? | Forum: Vue
Warangel --- U.S. Thanksgiving is this coming Thursday, the 23rd. (It falls on the fourth Thursday of each November, so the date changes from year to year). Business often take Thursday and Friday off for a 4-day weekend.
I'm still waiting for e-on to validate my &%#!ing payment and give me my download link for Vue 6, or else I would try to see if Poser 6 anims work for me. I'll let you know. (They'd darn well better get to it today, been waiting since Friday noon...)
I hope this glitch of yours is an isolated problem with a workaround... depressing if we have to wait for a bug fix.
