For what its worth (its likely too expensive) I saw this on turbosquid: http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/224935
Frankly, it would be pretty easy to make one. Do you have a pic of what you're looking for? If you post it here there's a good chance a good samaritan will whip one out for you.

Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the freebies and to compliment you on the extraordinary stuff you've done. I'm doing a little animation that uses several of your sets and I'll post a link when its done. I am SO looking forward to getting The Neighborhood!

Jeff,
Appreciate that info as it is very encouraging. I put a nice little request in on the Reiss support page myself. Man, I will keep my fingers crossed as I have 9 gigs and an 8-core MacPro that I could put to good use.
Love that avatar, by the way!
Thread: Is Mimic better than PoserSpeak? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey, I appreciate that info wdupre! I just found a post you made previously with a link to your tutorial on the Daz site.ย
Since Daz put the phonemes in 4.1 I'm curious why they didn't go ahead and complete the task with expressions and a DMC file? I'll definitely post mine in the freebie section when I get the DMC finished.

I installed it yesterday on Windows Premium (32 bit). I recall that it took a hell of a long time for the installer to begin doing its thing and I originally thought it wasn't going to install. Also, you can just copy the whole e-frontier folder from a previous install and it will run fine.

Yeah, these are two completely different animals. Mimic allows you to lip synch to a recorded track. PoserSpeak generates electronic speech from typed text. Mimic still works great but is getting dated and won't work with the newer characters, including (surprisingly) Daz's own Victoria 4. A member here has kindly creaed phenomes for Vicky 4 to use with Mimic but doesn't have full functionality. I'm hoping Daz will update Mimic sometime but I think that may be wishful thinking.

THANKS Jeff,
If the limitation for 64-bit is due to their copy protection I would think they could do a protected version for 64-bit windows pretty easily, huh? You have any thoughts as to the liklihood of seeing a version anytime soon?
Thanks for the info on the memory switch. Say, do you know what the status of memory usage is under Vista 32? Is there a switch applicable there?
Also appreciate the QMC tip. MUCH appreciated.
Cloning the mesh --- duh, why didn't I think of that?
Muchos Gracias again.

tainted-heart thanks for the trip down memory lane! I've got a bunch of 400k floppies and a 512k Mac in the shed. I've still got the very first LaserWriter and Aldus PageMaker 1.0!ย
I used to live outside Topeka and bought one of the first Amiga/Toasters after running into Kiki Stockhammer at an industry show. I wonder whatever happened to that little minx? She was really a great person and terrific ambassador for Newtek in those days (and pretty damn hot too). [EDIT: I just googled her and found a fascinating page called "Remembering Kiki Stockhammer" : http://www.patswayne.com/kiki/ย
By the way, in the mid-nineties I got to fool with an early beta version of Poser because a friend of mine was tight with the guys at Fractal Design. Although it was pretty kludgy, I remember thinking, 'boy, in about 5 years this is gonna probably be a killer app.'

In the RENDER SETTINGS window on the right side you'll see an item called "RENDER OVER" and you can choose to have the render over the background OR over the background color OR black OR whatever background shader you choose.ย

Yeah, pjz99,
I researched it here on the forum and learned it did not run under 64-bit systems and, frankly, it made me hesitate getting it.ย However, I decided it was worth it to me to be able to use it on a 32-bit system since I have a couple other plugs that don't play nice on 64-bit Max and have to still run 32 part of the time.
I bet you could sell yours here if you are wanting to get rid of it. I've had some friends interested in seeing my results and if you'd like, I can check with them to see if they want to buy your license (assuming Reiss Studio will allow the transfer).
Although I agree that the 64-bit incompatibility is a big negative, I still think its worth it to have the ability to render with Vray, MentalRay and Brazil with Poser motion.
I've tested the plug with Poser 7 and most of the models and have had no trouble. Here's a render of Vicky 4 with the Viper:

Thanks Jonny,
Here's another quick test putting V3 (GND) on a Viper rendered in Max with VRay:
Thread: Importing Poser animations into 3D Studio Max | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yep, Bodystudio is your only option based on how you describe the problem. If your goal is to render an animated Poser scene in Max, then Bodystudio is the tool you need to use. Of course, you CAN export a Poser animation as a range of frames but this merely gives you a separate 3D model for each frame of the animation. To render these 3D "frames" as a seamless animation in Max requires substituting each successive version of the scene for each frame of the animation. I actually did this once using ElectricImage and I imagine someone has a Max script that would handle the substitutions, but clearly, this isn't what you are looking for.ย
Another approach, of course, would be to export the MOTION from the Poser animation as a BVH (biovision)ย file and import the BVH motion into Max to drive the character. I have done this, too, but it requires having a character rigged in Max and also dealing with Max's (character studio) funky implementation of BVH files. I have found the best workflow for this approach is to use MotionBuilder and FBX files. Again, this sounds like something far from what you are interested in and I mention it just to be complete.ย
Frankly, Bodystudio is the only game in town and I've been impressed with it over the past week that I've been using it. My only big gripe is that it is not compatible with 64-bit Max, which is a major disadvantage for complex scenes and big renders. However, if you are a 32-bit user I think you'll find Bodystudio is a very useful tool.ย

Yes, I looked at Parallels. It's absolutely great if your need is for concurrent operation of different OS's. You can have your Windows in a Window while in OSX. However, you take a speed hit so that you shouldn't count on this solution if processor speed is paramount for the "secondary" OS.ย
However, I had not thought of the advantage of using Parallels as a means to access the Mac-based files and that may be reason enough for me to buy it since it's pretty cheap.
You also can find some good discussion regarding the performance issues involving Parallels at the CGTalk.com forum.

Much appreciate the caveat about BodyStudio not running under 64-bit XP or Vista. That's a deal breaker for me but hopefully it will get solved by Reiss soon.
Estherau asked: *"... so i was wondering if your windows disk on your puter can see your mac partitions and vice versa with your bootcamp setup, or if u have to first set up some sort of internal network. otherwise just clone your runtimes and store them on both partitions i guess but that's a waste of space and not even a backup because if your puter gets zapped you lose all partitions anyway unless you have them on separate drives and only one drive fails.
love esther."*I don't see the Mac drives when booting to windows although the Windows drives all mount when I boot OSX. I installed MacOpener and figured it would mount the Mac drives but nada. I do want to avoid having to duplicate any files so I'm going to pursue this further. I can't imagine it will be that hard to solve. If anyone has the answer please post!
One last thing, I've got Poser installed under XP-64-bit but when I open it the main window shows whatever was on the desktop at the time it was opened and you can't see the figures. Everything is there and operating as you CAN see them when you render so this is obviously a display issue. I'm using a Radeon1900XT but haven't found any settings with its Catalyst control panel that helps. I'm suspecting this is an OpenGL issue but I haven't found any OpenGL settings with the Radeon control panel. Given that the Poser specs specifically state "recent NVIDIA GeForce and ATI Radeon preferred" and it works great under XP32-bit my guess is the artifact is related to my Windows install. I ran the Windows Update and have Service Pack 2 installed along with everything else Mr. Bill's updater said I should have. Any ideas here guys?
(edit: Just remembered I could right-click the display and choose SreeD as an alternative for OpenGL and that works ok. I'd prefer running OpenGL, though, so if anyone had any ideas why Poser and Radeon 1900XT aren't playing nice under OpenGL display please chime in!)
