been busy so missed this till now
yes there is a viable market for items made in blender if you have the abilities to make them usable in other softwares
as for paying for tutorials
if you intend to sell products the cost of those tutorials as well some supplies can be used as a tax deduction in areas(check with your preparer if in US)
i use blender 2.49b still to create designs for clients that want custom parts made for equipment, cars, and motorcycles so that they know what it will look like when done
i personally am a highpoly modeller which tends to crash most poser and studio systems but i dont sell or give that stuff away
i like the photo real look
ok it wont let me add a pic?

Thread: How can graphics studios be so stupid? How hasn't Blender put other companies o | Forum: Blender
studios like to use stable(not constantly being modified) or proprietary softwares
back in highschool i started with an autocad program that was "highend" for the time but was still only 2d, i was using it to design mechanical parts for heavy construction equipment. while in college a friend showed me a fledgling opensource program that was so unstable that it was pittifull but i stuck with it, that was the original beta for blender
i started playing with it and it because normal, not long later i got my hands on pixars software and stared playing with that as well
it seemed like every week or so a new for blender hit the web while everything else was only touched once a year or so
i messed with bryce until daz got their hands on it and ive tried poser, silo, mudbox, carrera, hexagon, sculptris, argile, and alot more and keep going back to blender but just like i do most people learn one software and never leave it
Thread: Hello I'm new. | Forum: Blender
first question would be what version of either blender are you using?
newer versions are available in 32 bit and 64 bit and if you have a 64 bit system and download a 32 bit software it will not work right sometimes because it downloads into the x64 files and not the x84 files where it needs to register
if by chance you got one of the OS or ubuntu versions they will not register at all
check which version you have and need and make sure that they are compatible
also do all windows updates and retry the download

it looks like a hacked version of the original sketchup
i just watched a few videos on it and it seems to lack real world usage features
i think ill stick with blender
Thread: Sculpting or Modeling... Which Gives Better Results? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
most things can be made from modeling but can also been mae by sculpting
its one of those deals where its all about personal prefence
like MBR has been sculpting a sea horse alien thing that looks good and sculpting is perfect for it
making a car body you need the low poly count and accuracy of modeling
there are people that combine modeling and sculpting
just do what is easiest for you
Thread: Sculpting or Modeling... Which Gives Better Results? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
normally i only work on hard bodies like buildings and cars but even with those sculpting can be done for interior pieces like a couch or a pillow or seats
i learned in blender and still use it today because it allows for sculpting, modeling, texturing, rendering, and rigging all at a good price range $000.00
im cheap but even if i had to i would buy blender because it is multi-use and as powerful than most paid softwares
but in the end which to use depends on the user
Thread: Still in Texture Hell... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
for the next time you hit the wall
unwrap the mash when you have just the basic form done
if you use a basic form as a template its easier to then add vertices and geometry and match it
starting the unwrapping early means that you have full controll and with the tools the newer versions of blender is adding the only limit is your ability
Thread: How long would this take? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
hate to say but poser will never do that
sculpted and textured in sculptris, modelled and rendered in lightwave, displacement baking help from blender
and new to poser in version 69.99
Thread: Cycles Rendering is not working properly. HELP! | Forum: Blender
is there an inner cylinder inside teh tube or is it supposed to be a solid piece like glass?
start with the volume samples because of the opague materials and check the nodes to make sure they dont have a noise or roughness setting that isnt supposed to be there
as for why the actual render takes longer its because there is a hell of a lot more information to process than in a preview
Thread: OT - Anyone Here Play a REAL Guitar? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
ok shvrdavid how i know it is not a hagstrom is simple its missinf the selectro buttons and has knobs
hagstrom ahd large black push buttons for pick-up selections and combinations
also the headstock is a custom shop version of the 1940s mandolin
now the infamous star design guitar was also not a hagstrom as may rumours would have one believe it was made by goram malmberg but hagstrom did make 2 un-authorized copies in glod that were used as prizes
now for the update in 1976 hagstrom did get with the knobs and selector switches but still were not used by any member of abba at least no according to hagstrom
now onto the effects question
if i was still on the road playing and was looking i would pick up the didgitech gsp 2101 pro with the foot controller
its a digital effects processor but with a tube pre-amp so it doesnt come off so digital and now can be had for about $300 or less
Thread: OT - Anyone Here Play a REAL Guitar? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
ok now lets delve into the different guitars that the man used and yes the list is long
his main weapon of choice was the gibson ES-335 which he used most of his carrer
but he also used a 1955 model d-28 martin 6 string accoustic, a james olsen 6-string accoustic, a fender squire, a les paul, a gild 12-string accoustic that was tuned to open c, and various telecasters and strts as well
the love of vox amps was lasting and was standard
Thread: OT - Anyone Here Play a REAL Guitar? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
the guitars used were gibsons
the amps were vox tube amps not cabinets but the recording style called for a seperated amp from the recording studio
they put the amp in a room alone with a mic to record it without the noises from the open studio
tellis makes a similar amp now that is lighter but not cheap
ive played bass since i was 11 and worked in a recording studio for a while
but all i had to do was a simple search on the studio sites
Thread: OK I need help this time LOL | Forum: Blender
scale the first loop to almost merged and then extrude again and merge that one
it eliminates the un-needed verts and still acts right in poser
