Yep Bloodsong, that's the general Idea. ;-) I was originally going to do real movements, but the more I thought about it the more I thought it really should be like the old mechanical amusment park booth. Robot movements. I even got a gear grinding sound when she moves ;-) James
Thread: New Anime Girl Morph in the works | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok Traveler, Great start! The nose is much to big and long. Zygote did get the Anime nose correct, though the rest of the head they did is wierd. Looks like you've got the chin and mouth and head shape working well! I'd enlarge the Eyes. again there are so many styles of Anime. Which to choose? Can't wait to see this progress! As always Traveler, great work! James

Thread: The Propsguild Site will close, to keep contributor members work safe. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok, My 2 cents: There will always be someone out there trying to get something for nothing and try to ileagally make a profit. Even if this A-Hole stops, there's someone waiting in the wings to take their place. Our best defense is awarness. We caught this guy (hopfully in time) through someone happening onto the site. I know we all cruise thousands of sites, and make it hard for people like this to get away with it. But I strongly agree that closing down a site because of this seems very counter productive. The've already stolen what they wanted and were caught. If we give into terrorism or the thought of terrorism we might as well just take all the sites down.Password protecting/members only downloads I still think is a good solution. Becoming a member you must agree to the terms and conditions. Or even going a little further and doing it similar to e-commerce site, with $0.00 for the price but giving a record of who downloaded what. Just a thought. James
Thread: Star Wars thread continued from yesterday. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My 2 cents: Also if you look at the mesh under the render, it's not that detailed. SEE what a good Texture, bump and good UV mapping does! People we can do just as well IMHO. Finding a hires shots of faces seems to be the only hard part. (men mostly) As for horns and other morphs, I think we have the talent here also. I think my Geisha speaks to that. And the Geisha was completely rendered in Poser 4 with only the background done in PhotoShop. But it's good to see these things, it inspires us all! James
Thread: Multiple figure scene | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
One quick thing on Importing to Bryce. Open Bryce, create a sphere. Click the "M" to go to the materials requester. load in the first Victoria texture you want in the Pictures screen (Note Bryce 4 DOES accept jpegs). Click OK, go back main screen. Click the "M" to go to the materials requester again, load the next picture. Do this for ALL the textures used in Poser. Essentually what you're doing is pre-loading the picts so during the import proccess Bryce doesn't struggle to find them. The transparency maps are another story. You just need to load the correct map into the middle square in the Pictures requester. (I'm on G4 450 only 64 megs -- I just up my Virtual and set Poser to 90megs)I have had no problem with multiple figs. But I do get the occasional memory error. So what I do is set up the scene, make sure all the correct maps are loaded, AND make sure that no EXTRA textures are. Check every material and make sure that they're only using the textures that you need. Then save the file, and QUIT Poser (you might even want to re-boot). Open the pz3 file and render. Another note: The Victoria model with all the morphs is a MUCH larger file than without (Single all morph Vic is about an 8meg pz3 file--opposed to a 2 meg standard Vic morph pz3 file. $ figures can run upwards to 32 megs of figure information). A good thing to do is get the figure the way you want it (with all the dials/morphs) and save a full body morph. That way you can load in the much smaller Vic standard-morphs and apply the body morph, ending up with a still much smaller figure than with a lot of the morphs you don't need. Hope this helps and doesn'r confuse. James
Thread: Carrara+Poser = ARGH! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser imports all the files I've created in other programs as one obj. But the materials are there for each part. So do as above. use the grouping tool and create a new group for each part, You can use the "add materials" to isolate parts. Then spawn props. James
Thread: 3DMF files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser 4 reads 3DMF files. Well it does in the MAC version. Does it not in the PC version? Anyway the explorer program is ok, unless they've improved it lately. I had bad luck with that one. A program 3DWin/3DWinOGL was much more reliable for me. http://www.stmuc.com/thbaier/ But DOES NOT do 3DMF. Hmm go figure. Maybe we should get some people to set up a format conversion program. I myself can't read any MAX files. James
Thread: Anyone up to a real hair challange? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks guess, but as you can see. Agian very small pics with little or no detail, and the wigs are just black areas around the head. James
Thread: Victoria goes Ethnic. Thanks Zygote for the morphs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks all! It's so nice to get this great of a response. THe "turban/head-scarf fortunatly or unfortunatly is from zygotes costume shop cd (the turban). I did some grouping to spawn a prop without the top and the flap. Then just applied a pattern to it. Tip: When spawning a prop from something exsisting, in my luck I've noticed that it retains it's original UV mapping. Also if anyone knows of a site which has hiresolution pictures of geishas,, please pass this along to me. James
Thread: How do I remove finger/toe nails from the obj export | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Don't know why you want to remove the nails OUCH But, You can do this by painstakingly using the "grouping" tool in Poser and spawing new props, and then creating a new figure. Select each fingertip. create new group. "nails" Use the include material requester to select the fingernails. Assign material "nails" (NOTE: this name must be the same for ALL) THe toes are easier, since their one object. Do the same for them. Select the "body" and "spawn props" Save work in progress incase something goes wrong! Now delete the original figure. and set the hierarchy for the new one but delete the Nails. Create new figure. You should now have a new figure without nails. I may be off on this a little but that's the general idea. Hope this helps. James
Thread: Cross Platform Compatibility | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It trully is a fantastic program. I'm a MAC-ite too. And this program is indispenable! Poser on the MAC will not read files unless the do contain information on what program created it. MacConversion is an apple script that handles all this for you. And better yet, it DOES convert MAc files to PC format too. Get it, you won't be dissapointed. It opens up the whole world of downloads. I can for instance use any file here PC or MAC. It also Converts PCF files (ObjectionMover) What a work horse! James
Thread: Flemming's Troll (WIP-Large Image) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Now I know quite awhile ago I downloaded this troll. And it was a FREE give-away from some online 3d mag. (The lizard man and Fred Flintstone were there too) I can't seem to remember which site though. I'm getting old. ;-) I still have the mesh, and I'm just not quite good enough to make it into a posable figure. James
Thread: Old Man Tex and morph posted! And what's with the 500k thumbnails? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Kalypso, are you on a MAC? If so you NEED to get the utility "ZipIt" It is free, but limited (You pay some money to unlock things like encrypting) http://www.maczipit.com Some of my clients have had the problem with not being able to unzip things on the MAC side if they don't have ZipIt. Since I zipped it with this program. Back to the large file sizes. It's not me, I was noticing someone else had uploaded large thumbnails. Could be bmp, don't know. Forum moderators need to look into this. James
Thread: Zygote Victoria in Carrara: no pupils... | Forum: Carrara
Jeff this is what I was talking about. I know that things don't look as they should in the rooms. But using the Camera icon preview should let you see without a full render. But this is a rendering. I may just may not have a button selected or I maybe have too many buttons selected. I.E. It took me forever to realize that you HAVE to have the "light through transparency button" checked in the rendering palette to make the trans to show up. They just should have a Poser import plug-in ;-) James PS I'm on a MAC latest version.
