hey nance, don't feel so bad. we're all here to learn and to enjoy ourselves doing it. so I just learnt something...don't skim through the boring bits in the manual, they may not be that boring! I must admit I feel a bit stupid, now I know how obvious this stuff is, but my original post did say.... 'am I dumb or is this something new?', and I guess it was new to some people. anyway, the html is 116k, takes 30 secs to d/l and 30 secs to read. if someone already knew it, I wasted a minute of their lives and I'm sorry. yes I tried out the animation controls and it is pretty easy, although I'm a keyboard person myself (hate being mouse-dependant), and I do try to keep my screen controls to the absolute minimum, so maybe I'll stick with the keys. the main thing is, I know how to do it now, so let's just be happy. as you say "nevermind" maclean

Nance, thanks for your input. I would just like to point out that 'new discovery' means new to me, and judging by the posts, to a few other people too. you may or may not have seen it in the html, but I did mention that all this stuff may be well-known to anyone into animation, which I am (obviously) not, so I guess that explains a lot. I'm just a bit behind in all this stuff, so be patient with me and the others who aren't animators. I'm not trying to take credit for something that was blind luck. and yes, I do (uh-hmm) have a manual. maclean

REALLY nice! But do you think tied-back hair works? I seem to remember it was always "flowing in the wind" and stuff. maclean

I know how you feel, mona. I had a cat who loved the taste of gelatine and used to lick all my photos. couldn't leave anything lying around at all! (I miss that cat...sigh) maclean

well done, storm! you've really taken this way beyond my initial tinkering. just goes to show what amazing things are hidden in the basement of Poser. why doesn't metaC tell us about these things (I assume they do actually know about it) as I said in the other post, someone really needs to do a comprehensive mini-tutorial on this stuff. it's too good to be forgotten. am off to try out your latest addition! WOOOO! maclean

have been playing with this, tweaking the morphs, and some of the effects are pretty impressive, I must say. using various face morphs (heroine, big nose, ears, etc) you can get some amazing pseudo-animation effects. it's all still a bit unpredictable (at least for me). sometimes it takes a while to get going, or I get the wrong sequence of poses, but it's still pretty mega-mind-blowing just to watch it. someone needs to do a mini-tutorial on this one. maclean

this is more like it! like I've always said, everyone's got beauty...the artist's job is to find it. doesn't matter what technique you use to make it available to other people. maclean

to amplify...open 'surface materials' click the 'load' box next to textures, find the directory you stored it in and open it. you can change the strength on the slider but 100% is usually best. check 'apply texture to whole figure' and when you close, if you're in texture syle mode you'll see it. don't you have a manual, mona? it's all in there. maclean

have you tried traveler's morph world? every morph imaginable. if not, in the Freestuff, Demonica or Jade (I forget which) has a pregnant morph maclean
Thread: How do I make chrom/metalic textures ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm about to post a maps pack with a bunch of chromes in it and a (pseudo) tutorial on how to use them. may be of some use to you. check freestuff in a day or so. 'Painter' also has a chrome feature, but not great. maclean

WOOOO!!!! I'm too tired to even think about this. it's 4am in Italy and I'm working on maps. but you might be onto something. are you sure the rate is fixed? guess it must be. will try it out tomorrow. (slumps to floor in a heap of quivering exhaustion) maclean
Thread: Texture query...Maybe a dumb question but..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yup, shore can! you can even apply a texture map as a reflection map if you want. or vice-versa. settings are whatever turns you on, I guess. if in dount, try it and see! I'm about to post a collection of maps and a mini-tutorial in the next day or two, but meantime you might want to look at the image I posted of reflection and bump maps a couple of posts down. gives you the idea. maclean
