Poser 4, sometimes ProPack. I have two installs on separate HDs - one called "Poser V3", the other "Poser Victoria". This helps me keep track of all the stuff I have since I rarely mix V1 and V3 in the same render. Also use Photoshop 7, Mimic, Premiere 6 and Fruity Loops 3. Need a better computer before trying P5. All of the above works great on WinXP with 350mhz (512mb RAM).

Thread: To all technoids : Will networking two computers aid render speed for Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey Cliff, you really know yer stuff. This just opened another door of things for me to learn. Thanks! I guess until I get a better grasp of the networking stuff, I might just use my second computer as a "light" version of Poser (P4 and ProPack - don't have P5 yet). The only thing is I need to get more RAM for it - 96mb at present). Has anyone else noticed how expensive SDRAM is now? 256mb = approx $70. I bought two sticks about 2yrs ago for under $50 together! Guess I shoulda bought four. Anyway, thanks again and who knows Andygraph, maybe CL will actually do those upgrades... we can always hope! CyberscapE

Darn it! You guys were supposed to say "HELL YEA, GOFER IT!!" That was going to be my cheap fix until I can get a superbeast computer. But anyway... If I'm reading correctly, a network of two computers can similate(?) a dual processor. Right? If so, then being able to render and do something in photoshop at the same time(using WinXP) would kick major ass! No more waiting for the render to finish before doing something else. Am I right on this or is it just a pipe dream? Thanx for the help!

Thread: Virtual memory setting question (P4) and some basic advice for all | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
SWAMP pretty much summed it up. What I did was run the daz.exe files to load into a folder separate from Poser. Then I ran Norton across that folder to doublecheck. Then I used WinRAR to make new zipped folders. Only 3 daz.exe's were totally lost (which I'll check with them on Monday about redownloading). As of now, all of my content (free and bought) is no longer packaged in exe's(including Daz stuff). Now I'm still organizing and burning CDs. Thanks for the help on both topics everyone! Hopefully any newbies out there can learn from this! Later

Hey SWAMP! I tried WINrar and it worked on some of the stuff! Thanx!! I'll check with Daz on the rest. BTW - the HD in question is 60gb/7200rpm. I'll go bigger and better as finances will allow later. As for Win98, I still use it for some music programs and a DJ controller that WinXP just-won't-run.

Thread: V3 catsuit question... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Also try conforming the catsuit BEFORE doing the charpack body morph.

Thread: V3 catsuit question... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If I understand correctly, by "custom tricking" you mean adding morphs to V3's body? If so,the catsuit will only conform properly to the default V3 body (no pokethru). I've heard that a program called the Tailor will fix this. Otherwise you will need to adjust the xyz scale of each section of the catsuit. Quite a pain to do but, I'm hoping someone else knows an easier way without blowing more money. Good luck! CyberscapE

Thanks for the advice runs off to change VM settings. Never thought to check on a SR for ProPack. I'll do that tonight. Thanks again!

Thread: Poser 4 (Poser Artist) or Poser 5? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Welcome aboard TR! I use Poser4/ProPack and am quite happy with it. Before I even plan to get Poser 5, I'll need a newer computer and more positive feedback from present P5 users. Apparently, Poser 5 is rather unstable and gets moreso with each service update. Keep in mind that I've been viewing this forum since last September and most of the Poser 5 posts that I've seen tend to be "why won't this work?" rather than "how do I do this?". Some folks might disagree with me but, just browse through some of the 500+ previous posts and you'll see what I mean. It's kinda sad really, because Poser 5 sounds like a really cool app compared to P4. I guess your choice mainly depends on your current machine. If you have a Pentium 3 or 4, then maybe Poser 5 is worth trying out. Either way, try to have at least 512mb of RAM before using any version of Poser. As for file transfering, I'm not quite sure ... sorry on that one. Either way, good luck and have fun! CyberscapE

Thread: Late nite Poser Trivia. Who did you used to be? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
At Rosity and most other places I'm CyberscapE. I got this name from an old college radio show in Atlanta,GA. They used to play industrial/goth/synthpop music. I also use this name for my music projects where I create techno/industrial tracks on my computer. And I also use it for DJing in clubs. Other names in the past: fudleybutt (my Dad's name for his dog) ogre69 (the year of my birth combined with the name of the lead singer of Skinny Puppy-a Canadian noise band) Present names elsewhere: spankthegriffen (my handle in some chatrooms) nobody's_drool (a yahoo name) I sign my renders with boReeL, which is a backwards spelling for my childhood nickname - Lee Rob.

Thread: Is it me or Poser5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
LOL Sandoppe! I agree. And how about the threads titled "HELLLPP!!" and nothing more? Hell... I click on those just because my life IS that empty :P Anyway, I rarely have to post a question here because the back pages of the forum usually will answer it. Sure, it takes a little time but then again, what doesn't? To Drag, I've found the best way to run Poser(4 or ProPack) is to run it by itself. My Pentium II(350mhz) will allow Winamp for background music but, anything else running with Poser slows things WAYYY down (with 350mhz whaddya expect). Most Poser5 users complain about the slower rendering times so I'm guessing that your problem is a typical one. The main thing to keep in mind is this... RESOURCES! Poser is a memory and cpu intensive program to begin with, so running other apps in the bgnd WILL slow it down REGARDLESS of what kind of supermachine ya got!
