Now I've tried that JeffH. And indeed I can get the transparency on the outer eyeballs. But my problem now is that I get black eyewhites. And no matter what I do I can't get the eyewhites white. I've tried tex map, no tex map, just color, and still get this oddity. Any insight? JAmes
Thread: Possible BoyFriend for old Milli (WIP) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks everyone for such great comments! OK Tribe. I have been in graphic arts for over 20 years. Everything from layout and design to photo shoots. The photo shoots were where I really learned lighting. As for 3D. I started in on 3D art and such with "Imagine 1.0" for the Amiga (An ancient machine) way back in the early 80's. So I have been doing this for quite awhile. The texture and old man morph should be on the free stuff Monday or Tuesday. I still need to do a bit more on the ears. See my Old Man update message. Thread: Vickie caught with her drawers ..open | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm sure a good well places couple of magnets after she's posed might work. I'll try later. And Yes I agree, a good Body tex would be great, but even though I shelled out money for Victoria and even the NEW hair, I can't see myself spending any more money for Zygote's textures. ($24.00 is too pricy for what I know will be available free soon on the forum--no offense Zygote. I know that we got the morphs free (THANK YOU AGAIN), but I think 1 texture should have been included) About the broken link image. You'll have to ask the forum moderator. I see 100% of them that are direct links to the forum, anf 99.9% when they are external links. James
Thread: Pose Test (JPs a bit off) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
LOL, Well it is really just a test for the Pose. Not to actually look like Marilyn. See my Thanks Zygote post for the finished peice. This is a bad capture, I just aimed my camera and shot. So you could see that the pose is not turned to show more. BBut you'll also notice that Marilyn has a better butt. ;-) James
Thread: Lighting | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok quickly: Get everything set up (figures and props) 3 Lights most of the time are too much and just slow things down. Keep the main light (The bright white one) and one of the fill lights (The orange one), delete the green light. Now change the orange light to a medium Grey, and turn off it's cast shadow. (You can always turn this back on, but a lot of the time it too is not nesassary) Change the main (white) light shadow detail to at least 512, but even better to 1024. Rotate and place the main light to point where you want and how you would like to light the scene. Adjust the brightness to suit the mood. Now a trick is to take the second light (and keep the brightness low) to point the opposite of the main light. I.E. if the main light is pointing forward and favoring the right side of the face, the second should be casting light on the left side of the face and more towards the back. Note: changing the light to white and shades of grey maintain the colors of the objects. Remember when you use colored lights in a scene they affect the colors of anything they fall on. Sometimes giving the desired effect, but some times doing ghastly things to the colors. I hope this helps a bit. Now spot lights, can get tricky. ;-) James
Thread: wrenched clothing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am by far the person to ask. But It seems before you can get the clothes to "conform". The Joint Parameters have to be set correctly. One method is to use an existing (make a copy) cr2 from a piece of conforming clothing that works, and has the same peices (body parts) as the one you're doing. Then when you "conform" it shouldn't be quite the mess that it was, but will still need some tweaking. You'll have to open the Joint Parameter requester and fiddle. MAKE BACKUPS and NEVER overwrite a working file. Hope this sheds some light. James
Thread: Zygote? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Working fine for me also. Though this afternoon (PST) I did notice they had put a link to the New Vicki morphs, and then decided to remove it. (The link went nowhere). And as they stated in the message below. The Vicki morphs will be ready Monday. James

Thread: Converting and viewing images from a MAC | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
PhotoShop, if you have the money (around $600.00 retail) But to add a note. PhotoShop and I think PSP (PC) will read any Tif, and most other files, wheather MAC or PC. EPS is a little tricky, but if it's clean code, PhotoShop just reads it in as as "generic" if it can't make sense of it (99% good read). PSP, the PC standard does a good job of reading all these files to. From the PC side. The biggest difference I have seen between MAC and PC is Gamma. The MAC pictures look very dark on a PC and PC pictures look washed out on a MAC.. GO Figure! James

Thread: "Impossible to find file" message Help (Carrara) | Forum: Carrara
I found out if I check the load as one obj, it loads in fine. I tried the rds format, and I get strange breaks in the vertices and no tex maps. Speaking of maps. My next thing is to figure out these damn transparency maps from Poser to Carrara. I tried all the ways shown on this board. Still no luck. It should be simple. James
Thread: Mirror anyone? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You can't do real reflections in Poser! Poser uses what's called an environment map. The only things that get reflected is whats in the environtment map. For example: The great sunset reflected in a pair of sunglasses. This you can do, because you set the glass to "reflect" the environment map. BTW is any picture you want. You can't have a mirror. Hope this de-mystifies this. Sorry for the bad news. The only way to do a mirror is in a Program that actually does true ray traced reflections. James

Sorry, I forgot. I'm on a MAC. Carrara 1.1 I believe. The latest, since it was just shipped to me. James
