I don't have a problem when I open saved scenes, I'm on XP 32bit. When you say highlighted do you mean as if you are using the surface selection tool?
Thread: The state of the site and forums | Forum: Community Center
I agree with alot of what has been said here, as a DS user I find the state of the Daz Studio forum abysmal, the staff picks are done ever few weeks instead of everyweek, the moderators and staff seem to rarely if ever visit and most questions are answered by a moderator from another site.
I realise that this is primarily a Poser site but I'm beginning to wonder if there is a place for DS users at all.

I would recommend anything by Inaneglory or Dimension theory.
DT has just released a new product over at Daz for the March Madness sale and it is still on sale at 50%

Inane glorys recent release is also a highly recommended product aimed perhaps more for portraits but can be used for other things.

Theres a good thread about the PhotoStudio lights here
Thread: DS mats testers for Renderosity | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I wish I could disagree but I can't, I buy only certain things from here; there are some vendors who do do very good DS mats but they are in the minority.
I don't think Renderosity or its vendors think they need DS users and DS users have got so use to fixing mats etc themselves its considered exceptable to push out untested and poor products.

These are Fisty's render settings, I tend to use something in the middle of the Good and awesome.

If you are rendering hair and or things with trans mats, applying the Uber shader and turning off Occulsion helps speed up renders.
The problem I find with test rendering without shadows is that if something will cast a bad a shadow across the face for example, you won't know until your final render. Personally I find it suits me best to render at low settings first withshadows turned on.
Thread: Fooling whom? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Sorry but I think thats a bit of a narrow minded attitude. There are lots of video tutorials on how to do things in DS and some documentation seems to finally be on its way. These scenes are designed to show what can be done. Anyone at all interested is going to pick the scenes apart and find out how they are done.
I dont really see why this is going to create a market for preset scenes. There have already been these, and I've not seen an influx of them. I got V4 in such a bundle; the Victoria 4 Demoness Bundle back in 2007, it included a scene already set up. So it started along time ago but doesn't seem to have become a trend.
I agree with you on the poser clone thing though, but perhaps you should direct your critism at the numerous venders or market places who sell products that use the same base over and over, styles and designs that hardly vary from one product to another.
Thread: Objects not showing in Daz 4 | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I'm not 100% sure but I think so if not more. You can have DS3 and DS4 on the same computer. Just install DS4 to a different location ( I'm not sure but its default may be different anyway).
The latest DS4 build is 4.0.3.9
Thread: Objects not showing in Daz 4 | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Are you using the latest version of DS4.
There was aproblem with some items in an earlier version that seems to be fixed now. At least I havn't come across that problem yet with anything.
Are you getting any error messages when you load the items.
Thread: Problem with- Order #: 112015708 | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Thank you, although I am still wondering why your first reply was typed in blue; is this a new trend for the admin
Thread: Problem with- Order #: 112015708 | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Thank you.
I've reordered and bought the items.
If you could delete the previous order from my account I'd appreciate it.
Thank you
You have typed your message in blue and I had trouble seeing it, I had to highlight it to read it. I've never noticed it before on your posts, I was just wondering why it was done in blue.

If you are struggling with DS you might want to try the Daz Forums especially the one designed for begginers. You will find that a lot of people have the same problems as you when starting out and these forums are full of people willing and able to help.

Thread: Strange goings on at Daz | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - > Quote - I always thought DAZ3D should absorb Hexagon, Carrara, and Bryce into their Studio software and sell a pro and lite version of that. But DAZ3D doesn't have the programming staff for that. But it took awhile for 3DS and Maya to work with Mudbox even though AutoDesk has the programming staff.
I like Hexagon just like it is, thanks.

Well, yeah, they should probably leave well enough alone. When DAZ touches software, the bugs outweigh the functioning part of the software. In DAZ's world, "new and improved" means it will crash your computer twice as much as before, and have twice as many pieces labeled "coming soon."
I find DS very stable, on the other hand I find Poser very unstable, it crashes or just freezes up and for me is an impossible program to learn.
I couldn't believe it when I realised that you cant select more than one surface at a time in the materials room., among other things that are so simple to do in DS
Thread: Strange white stripes on V4 when rendered in DAZStudio.... | Forum: DAZ|Studio
It looks like its caused by specular setting whether in the skin or the lights I don't know. If the character rendered nicely with other lights, then I would look at the light settings as well as your shader setings. It might just be the angle of the light.
What lights did you use.

Poseworks PWtoon shaders would get you this effect within DS, they are availble over at Daz.

Hi I'd be interested, but I would like to know a bit more about what exactly you are looking for.
