I checked Chemical Studios last night... apparently, his ISP wanted to charge him a ton of cash to keep hosting poser d/loads. I mailed him last night with an offer to host them for him, and have yet to hear back... I'm hoping I hear something (one way or the other) by tonight at the earliest. You may check with Baument's site (bottom of the menu at right), but I doubt he has one. /P
Thread: Would like to rid poser of the defaut figure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, Melanie is right (and this is coming from an *ix guy who LOVES scripting...) I just ser 'preferred state' to be Woodie; he loads quick, and seeing a figure with no fixed personality to it is a great way to clear your mind when you first fire Poser up. /P
Thread: Is there a way to set up more folders that work as "Props" or similar? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wow... although my slice of the /Runtime/libraries/Poses directory is rather siezable, I usually keep only the subdirectories of poses that I need in there, loading and unloading them before starting Poser (one of these days, a perl script would do wonders for making this part easier...) These directories are a big clue to what they contain (I rename 'em that way if needed), and I move 'em in and out of /Poser4/Runtime/libraries as needed before I fire Poser up (otherwise they sit in poser_stuff/poses/cold_storage outside of the Poser directory.) HTH a little, though I admit that it can be burdensome if you don't know exactly what the pose set contains... I use descriptive directory names and a .txt file in case I'm not sure. /P

Don't mind me, I've just got alterior motives: My students are (reluctantly) hungry for traffic to analyze and data to care for. Hit the link up top for the long story :)
Thread: What do you think? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was just thinking... some rock formations are quite vertical - Basalt comes out as an example. It might be a little dark, but perhaps something along that line would make it easier? /P

Nice lighting... I've got a copy of her too, and boy if his ex-girlfriend ever found out... (laugh) Seriously though, the elbow problems are caused by the mesh "tearing apart", as it were... the elbow bend is too tight for Poser to handle. Some models are more friendly to bending than others, so your mileage may vary per character... depends on how many polygons the body mesh has to spare, really. Sometimes, I find that bending other body parts helps a little (esp. at the hips, where a tight bend causes the buttocks to 'fragment'..bending the abdomen and thighs hels out there a little.) However, you're kind of stuck as per knees and elbows. The only way I've ever gotten around the problem is to do one of two things: 1) lots of close-up post-work with the smudge tool in the GIMP (or photoshop, whichever) 2) import the whole thing into Bryce/3DS Max, etc, and see if you can't fix it there. Otherwise, I'd love to see how others have gotten around this too... /P

mail me and I'll park it on the server here. It just has to be under a non-commercial license (I'm using the school's internet connection to do this, which is why.) /P

I'll be correcting this, but incidentally, which browser do you have? I've tested the site on IE, Netscape, Konquerer, Mozilla, and Opera. (hmm.... maybe I should ask which version as well? The only browser I used that crapped out on png images is lynx, but it doesn't do images at all :) I'll see about changing 'em to jpegs today; I figured that png was universal to all *ix browsers and most Windows-based ones. Heh - the place is a huge WIP right now (grin) Regd's, /P
Thread: HEY....Little help anyone? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
First off, most downloads include a "readme" file... those files will usually tell you where to pack all the files when you unzip it. Otherwise, your best bet is to hit up the file types tutorial on this fine site; link to the tutorials can be found up top of the page. Regd's, /P
Thread: DAMN CANADA | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Having left the US only in uniform, I've not the full experience from which to lend advice. However, this one point is a valid one: "adapt or get out". If I were to move to another culture, then stand shocked that said culture rejected me, exactly who would be the fool here? The way I figure it, the US and perhaps a handful of other countries are actually somewhat friendly towards immigrants, and even then, only relatively so. Fact of life and all that. I guess I can sum it up this way: If there is an actual demand for folks of your profession overseas, then go to it. If you don't want to come back, then go where you're needed: If not Canada, then how about Mexico? Just a thought. /P

Crescent: yes I did... I'll have to correct it still, but otherwise all works as advertised. As for the link - well I'll be damned. I've already gotten Fallen City up in the Links section - I've learned half of what I know about Poser from there! Thank you kieraw - I was worried that the texturing would come out all strange :) Regd's, /P
