Thanks for your suggestions. I see that you have tutorials at http://www.markbremmer.com/3Bpages/tutorials.html
I will see if I can learn what I need with some of those (looks like I probably can - thanks!)
Thread: texturing poser props UV Mapping tutorials? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for your suggestions everyone.
I had exported and re-imported the model, so I don't think that was the problem. I even deleted the offending polygons, recreated that part of the model, and started over with a new uv map - same results.
I think part of the problem is that I don't yet understand splitting, merging, and stitching the uv's. I think part of this probem might be that I used cylinder mapping, and that row of polygons (and part of the collar) are where the 'caps' might be.Â
Â
I plan to start over with a new shirt. This time I will create material zones to try to make it easier to separate the map zones. Hopefully, I'll get better.
Thanks again.
Thread: Girl 4 install problem Poser not recognize V4 morphs but Carrara does | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I re-ran the update v4 utility. Poser still doesn't recognize the girl 4 morphs.Â
I have a separate runtime called DAZ Content. That is where I install everything I get from DAZ. Until now, everything worked fine. I did that because of UAC issues, which has been discussed at length in by other posters. This runtime setup could be the issue, but the "Morphs ++" injection works fine and it is placed in the same runtime.
It would be a lot easier to diagnose if nothing worked or everything worked. It is very odd that some DAZ morph injections in Poser are working and some are not. It is even more odd that the morph injections that don't work in Poser are working in Carrara.
Aaargh.

Thread: C8 Pro can't identify updated Poser Content, UAC redirect Windows 7 | Forum: Carrara
Thanks to jt411 here at the C8 forum and MagnusGreel in the Poser forum. With your help, the problem has been resolved. I post the resolution here (and in the Poser forum) just in case people with a similar problem find this thread.
Resolution - just for peoplewith a similar problem who find this thread by searching the forums. Once to the Windows User Account Control (UAC) issue, I was able to find resources to help, including searching the Poser forum threads for UAC.Â
Essentially, in my case, C8 Pro could not find the Poser content because Windows would not allow Poser 8 to write files to my drive because I had installed Poser 8 in thedefault c:programs directory.  My Windows UAC settings prevent writing to those folders unless the administrator gives permission. For some reason, Poser wouldn't prompt me to ask for permission.
My choices include but are not limited to
uninstall Poser and reinstall it in the My Documents folders where permission to write is not required.
only save my own work to runtimes created in the My Documents folders
use the Windows control panel to turn off the security settings in the User Account Control, but then I would face greater risk of getting hacked
leave everything where it is but run Poser as the administrator
For the moment, I am running Poser as an administrator by right-clicking on my Poser icon and choosing that option. It has resolved the missing file mystery.
Furthermore, the UAC settings had also prevented me from uncompressing my obz files (in a way that I could find them again). I have successfully retrieved the obj's now for morphs, etc.
My UAC settings are still set at relatively high security, I can create and find files in the Poser main directory, and Poser seems to be working well with C8 again.
Big thank you to helpful forum people

Thanks. The content in my added runtime works fine, just as you say. I guess I'll start the laborious task of saving everything in my P8 program runtime to my external runtime. Could have been a lot worse.Â
Thread: Missing Folder Mystery in Poser 8 on 32 bit system Windows 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks MagnusGreel. I bet you are correct. But what do I do about it? I found the following on UAC redirection, but it doesn't say how I can get another program (such as Carara) to find the file or how I could find it myself if I ever wanted to delete it or something.
Thread: Missing Folder Mystery in Poser 8 on 32 bit system Windows 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The mystery continues
Poser 8's library continues to say that the folder is there.
According to Poser 8, the library path is
c:program files (x86) Smith Micro Poser 8RuntimelibrariesCharacterV4 Chars
which is between a folder called Toonbraids and a folder called V4 Cuore di moda
However, simply navigating to the files using Windows 7 shows that there is no folder between Toonbraids and V4 Cuore di moda
and
Using the content tab in Carara and navigating to the Poser 8 runtime also lists Toonbraids followed by V4 Cuore di moda with nothing between.
Very odd.
Thread: Poser 8 inconsistent library browse | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
ok, I reloaded my external runtimes. I browsed each runtime library and category (figure, pose,...) after each load. The ? all eventually turned to numbers and the content is available. I don't know why the ? never turned before. I once gave it 24 hours. Maybe it had to do with something particular to whatever made P8 crash when I removed the library named 2009. That library also works now that it has been reloaded.
Thread: Poser 8 inconsistent library browse | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've started to remove my extra runtimes. Just an FYI - P8 crashed when I confirmed to remove a runtime that started with a number (the createively named 2009 Runtime). However, when I restarted P8, 2009 was appropriately gone.
Also, for me, the ? marks have appeared in one category of the library, especially props, at the same time that other categories of library seem normal. Also, some folders within a category will seem normal while others have ? marks.
Now that I've removed all of the external runtimes, the P8 content folder does not have ? marks (some categories did before). I did not uninstall/reinstall.
I will add external runtimes back one-by-one later today.

I'm reporting a new ticket so that they know more people are having problems. I'm sure they will get to it in the next patch. I'm not as frustrated as it might seem because the search tab did find my files even though the main library browser did not.Â
Thread: The merchants drive your figure purchases? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am also just a hobbyist. I used to buy figures based on what was available. Eventually I wanted to take on the challenge of creating all my own content for a scene. I can make my own pair of jeans or baseball hat. (admittedly amateurish but I like them anyway). However, making a decent human figure just proved too time-consuming. Now if I have to choose between a figure that is very similar to existing figures but has lots of content versus a figure with a different body shape but has less content I will definitely go for the figure with a different body shape.

Thank you PhilC. For others. I inadvertently uncompressed all the files in my Poser/Runtime folder by not highlighting anything when I ran the python script. Might come in useful if anyone wants to do that on purpose.
