But floppy disks still are handy and useful, and it is still useful if a figure's information etc can be kept short enough for it to zip short enough to fit onto a floppy. My laptop is modern, but its hard disk is only 4 Gbytes. (I remember when 128 Mbytes was a big hard disk!), and I know all too well that if I waste a megabyte here and half a megabyte there, a gigabyte is used up amazingly quickly. Also, big files take a long time (and cost on the telephone bill) to download at dialup phone line speed when the user has other uses for his time and someone else in the house wants to use the phone line for telephoning. Which file contains the strings that the arguments of GetStringRes(x,y) point to? How could I make up alternate language sets of names for a figure's parts? How do I tell Poser to display e.g. the French or Latin names instead of English, once I have made those foreign language name lists?

I have Poser 3:- addChild lThigh:2 hip:2 addChild lShin:2 lThigh:2 addChild lFoot:2 BODY:2 ================= addChild lToe:2 lFoot:2 If I addChild the Foot to the Shin instead, that foot is displaced outwards in the posed exported .OBJ file.

But with the hands and nozzle, I would want to conform his hands and arms to the nozzle, not the other way round, as where the nozzle is pointing is decided by whatever he is aiming at or if he is obeying "present arms!" or whatever.

Ii would be useful if the features that I describe here could be put into Poser 5. The "conformable garment" idea looks like a handy way to make its backpack straps fit; thus it would be useful if a posable object could be made of a conformable garment with other (non-garment) parts attached: that would make life easier for many sorts of devices worn on a man's back in a backpack harness and also having other posable parts: flamethrower as here, garden spray-pack, scuba diver's breathing set, blowtorch with backpack cylinders, backpack helicopter motor and rotor set, etc. Some of these are in the Poser Fun Stuff (search for text string "appleyard"), in Poser 3 form and I had to make each backpack strap as a posable "tail" of several segments with the "curve" property.

I tried to go to www.darksouls.com/Traveler/ like Colm said, but all I got was a moan from http://www.splitinfinity.com/missing.html saying that they couldn't find the address.

It would also help if I could issue along with the flamethrower model a pose-type file mentioning BOTH the nozzle AND its user's hands and finger parts, and then applied it tried to attract its wearer's hands to the place of operation, and then as above.

I realized later that perhaps those threads vanished for another reason while I was online, and that the [delete] button may not have been at fault.

A user suggested renaming the flamethrower's tank "chest", and dividing its hose into 3 segments named "lCollar" and "lShoulder" and "lForearm", and renaming its nozzle "lHand", and treating the flamethrower as a conformable garment. But:- - That still leaves no way to keep his right hand on the nozzle also. - It would leave parts of the flamethrower with confusing wrong names. - To get the curving realistic the hose must be divided into more than three segments: I use eight. - It would likely make the hose closely follow his left arm as if it was a sleeve, but in reality it would hang in a loop by his left waist: see http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk/3d/spmanfl6.jpg - It would not conform the nozzle accurately enough to his hands to point in the intended direction and make its handgrips go accurately through his finger grasp.

No need to restore the flamethrower message : I just re-posted it : SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY!!!!
Thread: Can't see new messages | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I got a reply to my message about posing my flamethrower model. In it, I wanted to delete the first message of that thread because the second message in that thread duplicated it. So I clicked "delete" to get rid of the first message in that thread, not the whole thread. And then all the first 25 threads vanished!!! So, PLEASE management, restore from backup those threads, including the thread about posing my flamethrower, headed "making two parts of a Poser object stay together" or similar.

Thread: Poser: (a) split seams; (b) a way to save time and file size | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Someone suggested putting "WELD" commands in the .CR2 file to cure split seams. But the Poser 3 Nude Man's .CR2 file contains "weld" (lowercase) commands for every moving joint in his body, but still when posed and exported as an .OBJ file in "each body part as a group" mode, every body part comes bounded by loose polygon edges with no vertexes shared between groups. No wonder Poser 3 users moan about splits and creases along boundaries between parts. I have Poser 3.

In my alien model most of the polygons were 4-sided. But in a posed form of it exported as an .OBJ file, all the faces have been divided into triangles. (I won't object if any pentagons etc are divided so no face has more than 4 corners.)
Thread: options re smoothing? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I do set his chest (which includes his helmet and his life support backpack) to "no bend", and Poser 3's renderer still maximum smooths everything.
Thread: I want to make a closed circle of linked parts | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I ran into the same with a posable backpack flamethrower and a posable oxy-gas blowtorch with backpack cylinders; the backpack is parented to its wearer's back, but I also want to keep the gun part automatically attached to its wearer's hand or hands as I pose him. This would be useful in the Poser 5 wishlish.
