Phantasmic! A scene straight out of hell! I love it! Seems almost like she's part of the plumbing in this dungeon outhouse. Looks dreary, drab, dark and dank. Downright spooky! Nice piece pidjy!

Yes, very nice scene going here. Try another water material for more serene water, possibly reflecting those window lights. Do give a little tipsy motion to your boats. Very nice indeed, and also looking forward to the finished product.

That's coming along nicely madDog, just to chime in a little if I may and add my 2 cents, foliage comes in different shades, if you can add some more diversity to your shades of foliage green and place them randomly around the setting, that would help to make your nature more believable to the eye. Also, maybe you can scatter some dead trees about since nature is not complete without them and stagger their heights (bare branches sticking up in the background here and there). As was already mentioned but might be too early in your WIP, you need some kind of action; maybe a sea gull or a pelican perched on the piling somewhere with maybe an empty boat moored near by. Personally I think your deck planks needs some more meat to them. They seem awfully flimsy to support someones weight. Just my opinion and thoughts, do with them as you see fit. I like the concept of looking down towards the other end of the pier. Its kind of like looking at whats going on behind you. Most pier scenes show them from the other angle. Good going so far.
Thread: Great Buildings | Forum: Bryce
Well, I'm happy to see that others have picked up my lead on contacting David Owen over at Artifice and are getting things really rolling here. Looks like this plan is really getting together. That's absolutely great! I have Bryce 4 and 5 installed on my machine. If you need any help in that direction, let me know. I think the batch conversion off of one source is a very technically sound idea. Good work all! Don't you just love it when a plan comes together? Cant wait to see all these buildings metamorphosed out in your masterpieces.
Thread: Monitor size/resolution | Forum: Bryce
I'm using 21" Sony Trinitron flat screen at 1280x1024. It is recommended that your final image should be rendered twice the intended viewing image size for best results and not at 72dpi. It should be at least at 99dpi, so if your final viewing image is intended to be 800x600, your final render should be 1600x1200 at 99dpi - 150dpi and saved in some format other than "jpg". Use "bmp","tiff", "tga" or "pict". You can resample your final image to the desired resolution and exported as "jpg" for web viewing. But your original final render will be in pristine resolution (who knows, you may want to give away prints!). Just a tip Ive picked up and offering to share.

Congratulations Rochr, well deserved! Great image! I knew I had seen it somewhere, just couldn't place it.

Ahhhhhh! I know it well! A couple weeks ago I lost a little over 10 hours worth of work with no mercy. Plop bam, it was all over in the blink of an eye! I was devestated! Great scene I thought too. anyway, really glad you managed to get yours back. It doesn't happen often so feel lucky!

Thread: Import size? | Forum: Bryce
Of the most familier formats, Bryce imports ".obj" together with their texture maps. For 3ds files you need to convert them from xyz to uvw map format to get the textures right and you will still need to work on the bump maps.
Thread: Importing Poser Images | Forum: Bryce
On second viewing of your post, are you talking about 3D Poser figures being imported or background images being imported? Background images can not as of yet be imported into Bryce unless you're looking to use them on 2D flat squares as backgrounds. This usually presents a lighting problem but can be done.
Thread: Unanswered Question - help with jagged terrain... | Forum: Bryce
Scott, that forum conversation didn't go on in a Compuserve Bryce forum quite some time ago, did it? I vaguely remember several threads with this fellow Klaus that was heavy into programming plug-ins for various graphic software packages. Curious, is this the same fellow?
Thread: Importing Poser Images | Forum: Bryce
Dall400, what you need to understand is that while you are working in Poser, whatever figures you want to bring into Bryce must be exported from Poser as WaveFront objects (useually but not always but this is the usuall format) and then when in Bryce import the figures as WaveFront objects. Now usually the figures come in with all textures except bump map textures. So if you use the program offered above "Grouper" that will help you bring in all the texture maps for your object. Once in Bryce, you can position them as you want. Hope this helps!
