(nu-be, glad to help) All is set, we will be automating things a bit more, but essentially we're on line. THANX!
Thread: HELP!!! Storage space searched!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've just started hosting stuff specifically for renderosity free download. The issue isn't really storage space, that's dirt cheap, it's the bandwidth. I'll be ready to go "commercial" in a week or two once a few more details are worked out (need automate and test a bit more.) If you're interested, shoot me a note at john@geekantics.net. If you've got an idea about how much bandwidth you'll need, include that also. Good luck!

My apologies, I made a boo-boo. The geekantics.net site is on a new server, and I goofed the DNS entry for it up yesterday. Unfortunately, it takes time for DNS changes to propagate through the internet (several hours to a couple of days) so I didnt realize the error until this morning. Will post again when all is up. This WILL still happen, but it may be another day or two. Meanwhile, If youre interested, send your e-mail to render@geekantics.com instead of net. John
Thread: OT (slightly) PAYPAL Sucks | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've never had a bad experience with PayPal, but they are one of those companies many people either love or hate, there's even a "www.paypalsucks.com" website. I've dug around quite a bit and they seem to be the cheapest way for an individual or small company to accept credit cards, but I wouldn't use them as a merchant simply because I think it'd turn some of my customers off.
Thread: Lightwave 7.5 - too "cheap" to be true? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Been palying with the demos, and both seem pretty impressive. Very different user interfaces, and seems C4D a bit easier to get used to. Both produce images (in the galleries here) that are VERY realistic. LW is more common, but C4D is growing fast (I have to wonder if the recent price drops on LW were related to C4D's growing popularity.) Of course, "Poser 5" will put them both out of business. ;) (Don't wanna start a debate, they've been compared a lot here in the forums already.)

Amazing! or wait a few months until it's shareware :) Debating between LW and C4D+dynamics plug-in. with LW at $1500, C4D+dynamics a couple of hundred more. Worth it (to me, anyway) to avoid the dongle. Now not so sure.... John

lists at newtek for $1595, at dvdirect.com for $1497... Now dvdirect.com has competitive upgrade for $1250 (mentioned dvdirect.com because I've used them in the past)...
Thread: Big Breasts Good or Bad??Give your opinions! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It really depends on the rest of her shape, it's how "the whole package" works together that counts. Also "Variety is the spice of life." On the other hand, if she has shapely legs and a nice posterior, I won't even notice the breasts... (Posterior would be a good subject for another thread.) ;)=
Thread: how do i make a desktop image transparent? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Baz's suggestion works, but only partially. I've done it by applying the image to the "cube" prop (it applies to all six sides) and tweaking the transparency parameters. Only problem is that until you actually render, the transparancy shows up as dots. A better choice is to use the cube, set vicki (or whatever) to display in wireframe, then set the cube so that one face is inside her head and have it display textured. (You'll have to got to "display -> element style" for the prop.) Then you can play with the morphs, magnets, or whatever... John

Thread: The Amy figure is Posette. Don't be fooled. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Good example Jim. Some ideas for your "Super Lady:" Give us lots of add-ons for versatility (like Vicki and Posette;) a high-poly mesh for fine morphing and smooth curves (Dina;) perfect joints and bend-ability (and "anatomically correct" while you're at it, think Natalia and Dina are the winners there with JCM's, but still not perfect, and;) a face/figure that EVERYONE will think is beautiful, but not so beautiful that it "threatens" the other "ladies." ;)

Actually, I think it's kind of entertaining (despite having spent the $50.) The politics on "Survivor" have nothing on the Renderosity forums. Gotta keep your sense of humor! :p
