So I decided to render the picture at Ultra, and it took a couple minutes to start, the prepass took about an hour, and before I went to sleep it was at 1% and was forecasting that it would take 200+ hours. But when I woke up this morning it was done, and said it had only take 5 hours, so I guess it just starts slow and then speeds up or something. I think I'll put it back on User Settings and see what happens....

Also, can I revert back to the last build or do I need to reinstall and all that? I'm still in the midst of a render (actually, I'm still waiting for it to start) so I cant check right now.....I hope I can, because this has never happened until now and I dont see any really good reason to keep this upgrade if this persists.....

I'm noticing now that it only seems to be doing this with one particular file....why that is I have no idea.....

See, it always seemed to have some effect though....I would do a lot of operations until the levels dropped too low, then purge, they would rise again, albeit for only a little longer, and I would continue this until it didn't seem to have any effect....I'm finding it seems to be better now.....

I guess so, yeah....but I mean being able to see them in the preview window (not the small one on the right, but the main windows)....now all I see is a flat, 2d approximation....

A vob, 3ds or obj would all be fine.....Basically, it's hanging straight down from a wooden plank, so it doesnt need to be too fancy....thanks again!

I'm not sure I can help with this specifically, but from what you've written here it sounds similar to problems I have at times when trying to change materials for leaves, that is, that the moment after I close the tab and go back to check it, it has either reverted or chosen another material already present in the scene and used it. Also when changing the scale of objects in ecosystems I find that I need to change them several times before they actually stay as I want them. Perhaps try doing the operation a couple of times and see if it works that way.
