Thanks, but it certainly helps that I had a good image to work with. Your Cephalopod is great & well rendered too. Photoshop was the first digital art tool I ever bought & it will always be my favourite.
Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing?

Your English makes perfect sense BowOnix.
I did this with Photoshop 7 but I think it's the same or similar with 6
Create a new layer & then draw your path on it with the pen tool.
Click on the paths tab in the layers pallet, then click the arrow next to it & choose "Stroke Path".
A menu will come up asking you what tool you wish to use to stroke the path with (before you start make sure your brush tool is set to the size & colour you want to stroke the path with).
Duplicate the layer & then choose the layer underneath that one.
Fill that path with black & apply a Gaussian Blurr (from the filters menu) to it so it makes the desired shadow you want.
Then simply drag the shadow with the move tool so it is offset from the path & appears to be its shadow.
Hope that helps.

If the postwork is done in Photoshop you can run the KPT filter on a duplicate layer & lower or raise the transparancy to give you control over the desired ammount of effect that you need in your image. It looks great, the KPT effect adds some real photorealism.

The Warcraft 3 in game cinematics are amazing. I have the DVD that came with the warcraft 3 special edition & it contains all the clips together digitally remastered, they are breathtaking.

'Lord of the rings' has some great CG stuff & so does the 'Matrix'. The Anubis warriors & the Pygmy mummies in 'The Mummy Returns' were very well done too. I also like the little CG snippets used in 'Fight Club', (there are a few, blink & you'll miss them) the way they are slotted in with the live action is flawless in my opinion & sometimes thats really whats important.

A Quick little tip for Mac users running the Safari browser, just right click or control click the text to bring up the spell checking menu, its a handy little underused feature.

i cant believe that I've just sat here & read the whole of this thread, but its quite funny in places (although i've aged a few years in the process). Hard to believe all this fuss comes from a woman touching her own tits.

Thanks for the advice retrocity & zinkfwee . I have purchased a Graphire 2 tablet & I'm now in the process of trying to get used to it. After one day of using it I find it very peculiar & unfamiliar to use but I can clearly see that with practice it will become an invaluble tool. Who knows, maybe I will get a larger one in the future but this one seems perfectly adequate for my needs. Thanks again for the good advice, Graviton.
