Thread: P5 for Mac? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I hope they get it all figured out soon. I don't really care whether it is a Carbon (OS 9 and X compatible) or just OS X version. I can run either one now. But I feel rather left out of the community, not being able to discuss the Poser 5 issues (and not being able to play with the Poser 5 goodies). And I suspect that at least 25% of the Poser community is Mad based, like me. - JimX
Thread: Poser MAC users | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
odeathoflife, If you are making items for FreeStuff or the Marketplace, and you want them to be useable by Mac owners as well as PC people, you are in luck. It is so easy that it is almost automatic (by and large, the Mac community takes care of itself, thanks to MartinC's utility). But there are a few things to keep in mind, to make the experience totally seamless for everyone. Check out the Macintosh forum (see the link in the bar on the right of this forum), and near the top there should be a link to Mac compatibility issues. That is a short topic that has everything discovered to date. Follow the advice you get there, and your Mac users will be happy, too. - JimX
Thread: .png files in Marketplace purchases | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Some of the stuff has both .rsr and .png files. In these cases, you can just ignore or even delete the .png files. In other cases, there are no .rsr files-- only the .png files. In these cases, you will get no thumbnail image in Poser when you load the item from your library, unless you are using the Pro Pack. For Mac users, MartinC's Maconverter program converts the .rsr files to thumbnails, but it doesn't do anything with the .png files. The Macintosh utility ThumbNailer in freestuff will make a thumbnails out of the .png file for you, for those cases where no .rsr was included. - JimX

Don, You got there just before I could, with your nomination of MartinC's MacConverter program. It has really unified the community. - JimX

Thread: GornBee saves the day! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Man o man, has the Poser forum upstaged Rendoerwars, or what!!! Or has Renderwars infiltrated the Poser forum??? In any case, it looks like Pooh vs. Renderosibee is where the action is right now. ROFL!!!! - JimX
Thread: Daz Wishlist - (What would you like Daz3D to create next?!) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Leather-Guy hit the nail on the head! Clothing with morphs that would allow them to be used all over the place. Second prize to martian_manhunter: textures for Cyclorama. This is a ferttile field for 3rd-party arttists, too. - JimX

Thread: Convert PC prop files for Mac? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There is really very little you need to do to make PC props usable on the Mac, thanks largely to MartinC's converter program. If you go over to the Macintosh forum (one of the "Topic" forums in the bar at the right), there is a box near the top of the page that has the words "Mac Compatibility FAQ"; that covers the few details that you might want to know. And then all your props are usable by the Mac community as well. - Jim
Thread: WANT YOUR FEEDBACK designing Poser download database | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
An idea about Unser Interface for the Categories. As nu-be says, that's a lot of them. Intuit had this problem with Categories in their Quicken program. The solved it by having sub categories (that is to say, two levels of categories). That way, you might have 2 pop-up menus, one for prime category (such as Figures, Textures, Hair, etc.), and another one for sub category (which would be different, depending on each category). This would be even more helpful for Genre. I also think it might be useful to allow more than one item in the "Requires" field. Just some thoughts. - JimX

Thread: Last day of the Daz sale! Would you Adam and Eve it? The site is down!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, I just got my voucher this morning, and it's already been spent. The store seems to be working fine. But I can't get to the free section at all. So I still don't have the gorilla. But I'm counting on DAZ to do their usual customer-firendly things, so that we can all get it. - JimX
Thread: Krystalmoon and Skygirls Poser temple prop | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Skygirl, Beautiful Site! By the way, you have the Temple labeled as "PC Only." But it appears to work just fine on the Mac, too. So feel free to relabel it, if you wish. - JimX
Thread: Hair in 'Figures' library rather then 'Hair'? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Most hair is like a special prop. It should go into the Hair library, and Poser will handle it just like it is supposed to. Sometimes an artist will create hair that is a conforming figure. It works more like clothes. So you can add it to your scene, and conform it to your person. This kind of hair needs to be in the Figure library. So the answer to your question is that you should probably leave the Hair objects where they are installed. Now all you have to do is remember where they are. Personally, I moved all of the figure-type hair objects into one folder in the Fiogures library, so I could find them. - JimX
