Windows' built-in support for zip files is not the best. It commonly gives the error that the file is "corrupt" (when it's not). Your best solution is to go download WinZip (it's free), install it, and let Winzip handle zip files. Remember, if the files were really corrupt, there would be a lot more complaints. Or, you could replace the TCP/IP packeting software that you use to connect to the DNS router along the ISDN circulatory ambiotic connector. Then, re-route power to the ODN circuits and reset your DSN and IP transport connectors. :-) In other words, look for the simpliest solution first (get Winzip) before doing something very complicated (like replacing a modem or motherboard).

The general rule seems to be to use a focal length of 90-120. But, you should also know when to break the rules as well. Sure, every portrait should be taken with a 100mm focal length, looking straight at the subject. Try these:
Thread: OT anyone here know anything about Geneva Switzerland? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Geneva? What does this have to do with Poser? This message should be moved to the OT Forum... oh, right. There is no place to post off-topic messages. Never mind. Geneva? I think I'll build that in Poser. There, now this thread has something to do with Poser. You're all clear. :)
Thread: copyrighted? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't remember which forum it was, but there was an answer that went like this: "If you have to ask, then it's probably not a good idea to try to sell it." Also, parody and satire is a fine line. MAD magazine can get away with it because that is obviously meant as humor. If you sell a "Snope" character (obviously a version of "Snape") with the sole intention of making money, where is the "humor" to classify it as parody? But, "close enough" usually works for most things, especially in the 3D world. Many companies own the likenesses for a specific use (you can't make and sell a movie using Harry Potter characters). But a digital version for use only in Poser? Definitely a gray area.

Here's an excellent site to download the manuals, in PDF format. If you have trouble finding them, just fill out the Contact Us form.Thread: Note to Ratteler... | Forum: Community Center
Not to change the subject from talking about banning people, but back to the original topic... This seems like yet another discussion about people deleting their original posts AFTER other people have answered them. What's the point of the thread if the original question has been deleted? (Oh, I see, it's like playing Jeopardy: you get the answer and have to come up with the question.) Why can't this forum software disallow deleting of a post if someone posts a reply? I think we've been through this before.

In Poser 4, type "po3" for the old interface and "po4" to get back to the current one. I doubt this works in P5 since they changed the interface (again).
Thread: Here's a thought... | Forum: Community Center
{Ok, so where are folks supposed to post things like birth announcements, birthday greetings, moving notices, "I'll be offline due to health problems"} You should post these messages in the same forum that people have been posting them in for the past few years: the All-Purpose Forum... also known as the "Poser Forum". What does "my cat just died" or "Look out for the Sasser virus" have to do with Poser? Nothing, but people post these messages anyway in that Forum anyway.
Thread: Ockham's Exploder - split vertices problem. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What splitting angle are you using? If the verticies are below a certain degree, they won't split. You may have to go with UV Mapper Pro and set the angle to something large (89.5 degrees) to see an effect.

One word: UNDO. Four words: MULTIPLE LEVELS OF UNDO. Video hardware support is a good one, too: OpenGL previews of the scene before rendering would be nice. {2) Better integration with 3ds Max 4x 5x and 6x.} Support for Lightwave would be nice also. {(especially since the only one available doesn't work under win98.)} Dude, it's the middle of 2004. It's time to bite the bullet and give up Windows 98. It's time to install Windows 2000 or XP. Or do you really want to hold on to your OS until it's 18 years old and can move out on it's own? Since you mentioned it, why don't we ask Curious Labs to add better memory management support when running Poser 6 on Windows 95? Or how about a DOS version of Poser 7?
Thread: FYI: OT forum gone... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Another analogy (though a crude one) would be how cities allow adult entertainment in a 1 block section. Everyone knows that this 1 block contains the "nudey" stores and strip clubs. Outside of the block, these things are forbidden... everyone knows and everyone obeys. You want nudey stuff? Go to the block. You don't want it? Don't go there. But, if you go there, know that you'll be getting into adult stuff. The same is true for community sites: one forum needs to hold the Complaints & Debates (a "C&D Forum"... there's an idea!) or a place to discuss politics, religion, and other off-topic topics. If there is no forum to hold these messages, rants, and ideas, then these kinds of posts will spill over into the rest of the Forums. People need to be able to vent. I know there will be "no debate" over this issue, but the mods need to carefully consider what may happen.
Thread: The OT forum has been closed down | Forum: Community Center
I kind of enjoyed the political debates and anti-war rants. But, oh, well, this isn't open to debate. I wonder if these kinds of posts will find their way to the "All Purpose Forum", um, I mean the "Poser Forum". And why wasn't this announced on the Front Page? I would think that the removal of an entire forum would be big news for the community... something everyone should know about.
