There's a new resource for help that I'm compiling. Charts like this, error fixes, and general workarounds will be included. New Database url is: http://arcana.daz3d.com/daztech or select "Support" from the DAZ Home page. (Search engine is limited, but works. Will expand the ability to search when the database is large enough to need it) Tutorials and such will continue to go into http://arcana.daz3d.com Submissions and suggestions are always welcome. Thanks Geep! Ryan tech@daz3d.comThread: *** POSER FILE TYPES *** Poser 3,4 ..... updated ...... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Still here at work ... If you have the fonts on your computer you can use them like this if you've got Win 2K or XP and MSWord. I'll still try to get something cool out when I get home, sometime before the Crap of Dawn. So if all this is too much don't worry about it. Go to http://babelfish.altavista.com/ Type in Imagine and translate from English to Japanese. Copy and past into MS Word. Do the same with Alto. (Alto won't look as cool, as Fyre pointed out, it's a loan word, so they use a different 'alphabet') Then you can change the font to whatever you like best. or, if you're familair with the Windows Japanese Input Method (IME) Open MS Word, Switch to Japanese. Type in "souzou" and hit the spacebar. When the characters above are displayed hit enter, otherwise, hit space again. For alto, type in "aruto", space, and enter when it looks like Fyre's writing above. RyanThread: OT - Odd Request - Japanese Kanji Design Needed | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Thanks for the feedback everybody. All good ideas. I've received some similar requests already, and you can email any future wants/needs to me at tech@daz3d.com I'll try to keep track of this thread as well, but if someone starts a new one later I may or may not see it. Sorry if I've missed any in the past also. We've got big plans for Mimic, and didn't want to see it disappear. So we would love to hear more about what you want to get out of the program. Please email me anytime- Ryan DAZ Tech Support tech@daz3d.com (1 of the... well, 1) P.S. The twelve? a reference to the lack of animators out there for poser? or some secret conspiracy?

128 Bit Encryption. Make sure you have the latest upgrades for your browsers, also if you are running Windows 2000 and even if you do have the version of MS IE that includes 128-bit security encryption, you must also update your Windows 2000 OS to 128-bit security encryption. This is a small (what a surprise!) download and is readily available on MS's site. Hope that helps, (thanks to Nancy too) Ryan Bouche DAZ Tech

cacheman has a bunch of settings on it. I can't remember the name now (I'm at work) but I know one setting will control how fast programs load etc.. by increasing/decrease a ram cache or read ahead... again this is all from memory, but I can check again tonight Ryan

Hey all, Ryan from DAZ Tech here. Here's the quote from the techtips, plus it's been updated with a workaround for those that don't want to upgrade. Good ol' Windoze. A problem does arise for those users with Win 98 or ME. The kernel that these programs use will not allocate the needed memory in one block for poser to render. This is especially a problem with large files like high resolution maps and or high resolution geometries. So even if you have 512mb of RAM, if you are running on either of these operating systems it is like running on 128mb of RAM as far as Poser is concerned. Besides upgrading your system to an NT kernel such as Win2K,or XP, we are still looking for reliable fixes. One solution that has worked for our customers is a memory utility called Cacheman by Outer Technologies which will allow you to configure your machine. You can download Cacheman here, they ask for a $10 registration fee on the honor system. Be nice, support independent developers! http://www.outertech.com/product.php?product=3&PHPSESSID=1a926c8fdb8ab6745b23d1db28f9777b I run ME at home on 256Megs, I've been playing around with Cacheman this weekend and it seems to help a lot. Anywhoo, drop me a line if you've got any more questions. tech@daz3d.com
