I've read the duck tutorial now: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12368&Form.ShowMessage=2187952 but this doesn't seem to work. I think I have followed it to the letter, but all my people jst face one way. They surround the object that I want them looking at but they all just look left and not at the object. Any ideas?

ok, it was norton all along. I pulled out anything to do with Vue in Nortons firewall, next time I started Vue Norton asked again if it was ok to permit Vue, and it now works. According to the programmers at Norton, some programs replace the .exe file when they update the program, if this happens Norton can see this as being different and not use the old rule for that program. But when it comes to adding the rule it finds a rule for Vue there and doesn't replace it. I don't properly understand this, but it is sorted now.

ok, here is what has happened: Did Vue update to latest release. Restarted Vue. Norton now asks if I would like to permit Vue access to the outside world. (does this everytime I start Vue) When I close Vue it stays in TM. Cannot end process, it won't budge. Leave computer on and go back to Vue the next day. When done I close Vue. Check TM, another one has appeared. Open and close Vue again just to check, and another one in TM. Can't end any of them. I think it is more related to Norton than it is Vue, but I thought I would check here. I will email e-on too though.

Mines the latest update. I will try without the preview window open, I'm guessing that could solve it. Never had it before though, only since the update.

tbh I dunno. It was a bump image from a daz3d person. The Barbarian for M3 so I would guess it was pretty high, and a jpeg

sorry, I keep doing this. It's Vue5infinite. Thanks for replying and pointing that out though, I could have been waiting ages for a reply otherwise.

ok, but even if I wasn't using an hdri, could the material editor be used to change any reflections to just b/w? Say a globe reflecting a few trees in a field or something? More now a little challenge than anything to see if you can modify relections that much. Anyone up for this?? ;-)
Thread: reflective material help needed | Forum: Vue
I have been doing that so far, but I was wondering if in vue5infinite there is a way to modify the texture so that it only outputs in grey scale. So that it reflects the fire, but in black and white. Does that make sense? sorry to confuse you, but thank you for taking your time to try and help.

That's ok, I'm just doing a 3d logo (writing with an eagle above it, all in metal), wanted a nice firey background with it all reflected on the logo. Thanks for all your help.

got ya! I didn't know it could do that, but then I've never really looked. Thanks for that, I'll give it a go later. Now how do you make a good fire scene? ;-)

Call me stupid silverblade33, but I have no idea what you are talking about. I must have skipped that lesson at school, but I'm at a loss, can I save as an hdr file or something, and how would I go about it. Thanks for the slight hint though ;-)
Thread: eco system on plane | Forum: Vue
I'll try with a smaller plane and I'm sure it'll be fine, just wondered if there was something obvious I was doing wrong.
