I get some strange transparency issues with P7 and the 93.71 series.
Such as transmaped materials disappearing when i change their properties then reappearing when I change another material area, then disappearing again when i change yet another.
Then there are issues with V4's eyes and their various transparent materials.
Sometime these issues are fixed when I enable the "Enhance Multilayer Transparency" option, only to create different problems or they're fixed with the enhancement OFF, etc.
Switching to Sreed preview pretty much fixes everything, but it's very slow, as usual, but I didn't spend ~$450 on a video card for nothing!
All the issues seem to revolve around transparencies. The shader preview and high resolution texture preview work great, at least as far as my experience goes.
Thread: P7- How do I turn off texture filtering in P7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
modus0: Hey, I'd forgotten about that, great idea! It works, but it doesn't update automatically, you have to switch material zones to see the change.

SAMS3D:
You can run it manually by clicking File>Run Python Script and selecting the script, or you can drop the script into the "RuntimePythonposerScriptsScriptsMenuUtility" folder then start/restart poser and it will be in the Scripts>Utility menu. Just click it and it turns off texture filtering on ALL image map nodes. There's no visible confirmation or anything, but it DOES work.

Oh my, yes! Thank you very much for posting that.
:D
You must be psychic, I'm here taking a break from twiddling with adjusting UV co-ord's to fix this very issue.

I can solve any problem with fifty foot of rope, two rolls of duct tape, a spoon, two glowsticks and a shotgun...
No scratch that, just give me the shotgun.

First, save your shadow render as tif. That way you'll get nothing but your shadows over pure white. Then copy the the shadow, paste it as a new layer over your normal render and set the shadow layer's blend mode to multiply. You can then tinker with the shadow layer's transparency to adjust the shadow strength.
Your normal render is the background layer, the shadow is the raster layer.

Increase the RayBias setting on the AO node to 0.1 or so. You may need to increase the MaxDist as well and possibly DECREASE the strength slightly, to perhaps .9 or .85. But the RayBias setting alone should fix it.
Thread: Question about P6 Materials Room | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you just want every part of the figure to have the same texture, just right click in the materials window, click "select all", right click again, click "apply to all" click "ok" on the dialog box that appears.

Yeah, I tried texture filtering, no improvement at all.
It's just a raytracing/shadow min bias issue, thanks to the close layers in the hair.
Probably nothing to be done about it in poser. I hate having to import the scene to another app, but I guess it needs to be done.
Thanks for the input, all!

Quote - Increasing the size of your shadow maps might help.
Raytraced shadows don't use the map size setting.
Thanks for the reply though. ;)

Maybe I'm just being a picky perfectionist, but the smudges really annoys me. ;)
I just rendered a small portion, but the smudge is all over the hair.
I'd really like to keep the shadows turned on in the hair. Since I'm trying for a somewhat dramatic scene (bright lights and dark shadows, etc), adding it in post work will be a huge pain.

Open the file Curious LabsPoser 5RuntimeprefsLibraryPrefs.xml with a plain text editor (like notepad). Look on line 20, and I bet you'll find it references a library path with an ampersand (& character). Older versions of P5 would die if a library with an & in it's path was referenced in the LibraryPrefs.xml file. Update to the newest version and your problem should go away.
