...The BEST PART of creating these HEAVY VOLUMETRIC type effects is knowing that they only take SECONDS to apply in Photoshop- even to a 2K size render---while if you tried doing a Volumetric Render in, say-- Vue6 Infinite--- with a Volumetric Atmosphere, Volumetric Lights, etc.. you would be looking a SEVERAL HOURS at LEAST (on average) if you wanted to do a 2K size render... (or probably more like 5-6 hours)...

I also added this to my image using variations of SCREEN, PINLIGHT and LUMINOSITY- don't be afraid to try different light filtering techniques- all of them can be pretty interesting...

...and EVEN BETTER for Multi-Pass Freaks--- there is a NEW EFFECTS Package Out called "ReLight"DAZ Studio, along with "Mood Master", NOW has Multi-Pass features that RIVAL many TOP-END 3D software programs... If you are a Photoshop Tweaker- check out "ReLight"...

But it seems like the Bolladon, or whatever the heck it is called, took over the picture!
So it's titled "Who Let The Bolladon Out?"...
Used Mood Master and LDP- I cranked up the SUN to 200%, with a yellow tint so that it would blast down through the warehouse skylights. And, rather than removing the roof- I made it about 60% transparent- so that more ambient light from LDP could get inside...

No, that's cool, Agiel! A bit of sword fighting is fun, and I apologize for getting too personal... I just think it is to E-on's BENEFIT to have a more open forum- that is OPEN to NEW IDEAS! That's always my intention, anyway... Many years ago I was regularly beaten up in the old Forum- when it was just Poser and Bryce- because I was showing my VUE renders! People said I was FAKING THEM-- or using LIGHTWAVE! (nice compliment!)-- and I was eventually THROWN OFF as I was NOT ALLOWED to post renders other than POSER or BRYCE...heh!!!
MAN- People can be SOOOOO Closed-Minded!!!...Yet the NEW owners of Renderosity seemed to see that having a DIVERSE set of software ideas was a good thing- and it made Renderosity grow like crazy! They right away established the NEW Vue Forum- then other software platforms, etc.... so anyway- that's why I always get a bit "bent out of shape"- as I LOVE talking about NEW ideas I've seen from other programs...
Bruno- DS still does not handle animation renders correctly, according to Dreamlight. He wants DAZ to fix whatever it is that causes the errors. Since I don't do ANIMATION- I don't care...heh!
But reguarding Animation is a professional environment- like say Disney- they would use the above Gypsy Wagon scene as a matte background- THEN they would OVERLAY splash objects (sprites) to make the rain drop EFX animated. One thing I notice OVER AND OVER with many artists here who do 3D is how LITTLE they work like the PROS!!! Pro Animators-- like PIXAR, etc, use LOTS of 2D EFX in their "3D" renders- like Disney, etc.. that because it's MUCH FASTER and the public "thinks" it's 3D!... Because people try to do ALL 3D effects in Vue, etc... they have HUGE LONG render times...Pro's CANNOT work like that... Time is MONEY, etc.
For Pro's it's not about ART-it's does the Director and Producer ACCEPT IT??? and does the Public BUY-IT???
It's like years ago, I- and many other Vue and Bryce artists too, heh!--- used to try and do UNDERWATER scenes using GLASS or WATER materials because it was "SUPPOSED" to be like water...!!!- But then you FINALLY realize... HEY-- why the F@@K do you need the incredibly SLOOOOOW render times- when you can just FAKE IT using a bluish-green ATMOSPHERE INSTEAD?...Actually looks much BETTER and renders 90% FASTER... yet you STILL see artists trying to do WATER and many other EFX- without THINKING about what the final purpose is-- to make SOMEONE ELSE "THINK" it is "Underwater"--or whatever the EFX is supposed to achieve...
Which leads me back to Mood Master- it's a HUGE Time Saver for creating DEEP ATMOSPHERIC EFX-- yet many people are KILLING THEMSELVES trying to render these same EFX in a HEAVY 3D ATMOSPHERE...Sure you might say---WHAT about ANIMATION?--- It can be done with Animation TOO- and that's often how the PROS render their DEEP EFX- and do the POST-WORK in a scene composition software program- all the MAYA, MAX and LIGHTWAVE software is made to work like this...for COMPOSTION in 2D!...
Check out the new Photoshop- it's supports VIDEO (Animation) composition EFX ---Photoshop is now bringing to everyone what the previous expensive 2D Composition softwares have been doing for years...

YOU try to NOW keep it TOO CLOSED, Agiel- I think it is because E-on has offered you some type of incentives to keep the Vue Forum a closed-minded, little-minded operation. I still drop in to see people discussing CATS, WEATHER, and everything ELSE- and they aren't DELETED... maybe because their isn't a CAT or WEATHER Forum to move these posts to???
You and E-on just TOTALLY PARANOID!... E-on went into this Paranoia a couple of years ago and for a while, as you played with Carrara and video games, etc.. you seemed to somewhat detached about how things were going in the Vue Forum. It seems E-on has yanked your chain...it's a place where ANYTHING can be freely discussed- as long as it's CATS, WEATHER, etc... Try visiting some of the PROFESSIONAL 3D Forums sometime where people talk WIDE-RANGE 3D and 3D ideas are MIND-BLOWING! That's why the BIG companies have BIG clients and talented 3D artists- they are free to think and explore...
Meanwhile. I'm having fun with Mood Master!
...keeping on the rain theme- here's "...Another Rainy Night in Georgia..."
The Gypsy wagon is, I believe, the ORIGINAL one done several years ago (not the DAZ one)- and the forest backdrop is the RDNA "Forest Ruins"...but WAY in the back is the DAZ Cyclorama!
The 3delight Renderman software really lends itself to a "CEL" animation type look, I think...
I re-used the FOG layer TWICE to get a deeper FOG...one of the really COOL features of Multi-Pass effects- no need to render again- just add another LAYER!...and I re-used my Rain Layer from my previous Dystopia render- BIG TIME SAVINGS and much GREATER control... I LOVE THIS!

...Jackie, for about $17 BUCKS you can't MISS- just be sure you use Daz Studio 1.5- don't use any earlier versions. And since DS 1.5 is FREE- it is one HECK of a DEAL! It is worth it just to LEARN what Multi-Pass EFX are about. Plus the Light Dome Pro package, also for $17.00 is another great set that compliments Dreamlight's Mood Master...
...and Agiel- why in the F##K did you delete/remove my post??? ...it COULD have lead to a nice discussion about Multi-Pass Rendering for VUE- that was one of the MAIN reason's to post it in the Vue Forum... You KNOW I'm a long-time Vue User...
ALSO- for $17.00 just READING the Dreamlight MANUAL is WORTH IT! ...It's a valuable Tutorial in ITSELF and can be applied to OTHER software- like VUE. In fact, I bought the package with VUE MULTI-PASS in mind...SURE-- I've seen the nice little info TIDBIT on the E-on website!... But nothing beats DOING IT- and for $17.00 and some change, you can DO Multi-Pass and SEE FOR YOURSELF what it does and how to control it.... THEN --some light bulb should go OFF in your head and say "WHAT if I could do this in VUE?"...- In Dreamlight's manual and tutorials he TELLS YOU his secrets!--What a NICE GUY!...of course, it not SIMPLE-- he's done all the MATH to figure out exactly the light values, steps in Photoshop, etc...--this is what makes buying and using the package worth every penny...
So I would say- get OVER your prejudice about DAZ Studio... it's a NEW DAY...there's a NEW SHERIFF in town-- and the $*%#@ program actually DELIVERS some nice professional results since, after all, this is RENDERMAN software- it's been used by some of the TOP 3D studios... it has just taken a guy like Dreamlight to set it up so that newbie's can achieve something like what the PROS can do...
BTW- I asked Dreamlight if he had a Vue version in mind- and he said- "not at THIS TIME"-- obviously his hands are full dealing with DAZ Customers...He has also tried to develop a POSER version- but that's been on hold for quite a while, apparently...

...I've used Vue since version 2 and I haven't seen anything in Vue work as fast as the way they work using Dreamlight's packages. That's because they are OPTIMIZED by a Pro who really knows what he is doing...
Sure- while Vue has the capabilities for doing great multi-pass renders, there isn't any package out there like Dreamlight's at an AMAZINGLY cheap price to do these kinds of EFX.
I did my scene above in a matter of only a few hours- including starting from "0" with DAZ Studio. I read the DS manual, Dreamlight manuals and his tutorials- and then did my scene and the final composite in Photoshop.
Like I said, there is NOTHING like this for VUE, on the scale of SPEED, PRICE or FEATURES.
If you want to do this in Vue- you need to INVENT ALL OF IT yourself! ...That's my main POINT- this is READY and working NOW...and it's CHEAP... there is nothing like this available for VUE and I can't even find any Multi-Pass tutorials available for Vue- however, the Vue manual DOES discuss it- but not to any degree of usefullness other than the theory of it.
Actually, I was bugging E-on, as I have about many features- some of which have finally shown up in Vue 6- but support for Multi-Pass and Compositing in Photoshop was something I was telling them about back when Vue 3 came out...They dragged their feet for many years until finally getting learning from the MAX, MAYA and LW people that these were features the pros wanted...
As usual, the Vue forum run by Agiel is extremely CLOSED-MINDED about any new concepts- Agiel is a simple little "Gate-Keeper" and E-on was forced to grow beyond their tiny little mindset in Paris by the fact that it was either that or go out of business...
DAZ has also not been the brightest company when it comes to developing software... they are extremely LUCKY that Dreamlight has come along and dropped these Gold Nuggets in their basket...
Also I have learned that RDNA is getting ready to set up a DAZ Forum... I think it's a wise move on their part...
