...Here's a REALLY INTERESTING NPR (Non Photo Real) Art Rendering software package available for FREE DOWNLOAD...

http://freestyle.sourceforge.net/GALLERY/dirindex.php

...It's NOT EASY to use- so don't bother if you aren't willing to do a bit of tinkering with it... but for anyone interested in DEVELOPING NPR EFX for Daz Studio- should REALLY take a look at this...

"Freestyle is a software for Non-Photorealistic Line Drawing rendering from 3D scenes. It is designed as a programmable interface to allow maximum control over the style of the final drawing: the user "programs" how the silhouettes and other feature lines from the 3D model should be turned into stylized strokes using a set of programmable operators dedicated to style description. This programmable approach, inspired by the shading languages available in photorealistic renderers such as Pixar's RenderMan, overcomes the limitations of integrated software with access to a limited number of parameters and permits the design of an infinite variety of rich and complex styles. The system currently focuses on pure line drawing as a first step. The style description language is Python augmented with our set of operators.
Freestyle was developed in the framework of a research project dedicated to the study of stylized line drawing rendering from 3D scenes. Details about this research can be found at:
http://artis.imag.fr/Projects/Style
This software is distributed under the terms of the GPL License. "

...The INTERESTING thing too is that Freestyle will output EPS files- so they can be used in programs like Corel Draw and Adobe Photoshop...

Its  very ycool that you can export to EPS for for unlimited resolution print work

but frankly  im not seeing anything in those gallery shots that poser user s cant do with sketch designer

also how can this be used with DAZ studio???

...as a long time Poser Sketch Desiger user- I would say that these Freestyle EFX are in a number of ways better and different. But what they LACK is what Sketch Designer does pretty well- ... Cross Hatching and "Scratchboard" type drawing efx... and the Freestyle Dev Group has admitted that adding Cross-Hatching, etc. is something that would like to see in a FUTURE version--They know HOW to do it- BUT- it was beyond what they were presenting in this current version....

Freestyle actually has a CLOSER relationship to what Carrara's NPR features do- Carrara's NPR features are really EXCELLENT... but what they lack is what the Freestyle team has come up with- Bezier Curve (Japanese Brushes) and most importantly, a LAYERING system -- with Style sheets that are modifiable...their are a number of MORE Python Efx on their website that do not come with the initial Freestyle download...

...and Daz Studio...I'm working to put the Freestyle Dev people together with the Daz Studio dev people..it is a VERY GOOD fit as Freestyle bases their shader concepts around Renderman shaders... also- with the Eovia people on board at Daz- they already HAVE a LOT of the basic knowledge and expertise from Carrara's NPR to both UPGRADE Carrara's NPR and add them to Daz Studio as well... And the Freestyle dev people are all French- where there (France) is much greater interest and research in computer FINE ART drawing EFX... so...I think it is a near perfect fit!....

...On the other hand- the e-frontier dev people have done NOTHING with Sketch Designer since it was first introduced back in P4 (or maybe P3- can't remember) back when the Fractal Design wizards were doing cool stuff borrowed from Painter brushes... There is so much MORE that could be done with Sketch Designer in Poser...with layers, python, etc... unfortunately Sketch Designer cannot be accessed by Python in Poser- because they never bothered to think about it as an artists tool since P4...

I hope it all comes together, it would give daz studio the edge over poser. Thanks for the post
