oh cool Riddokun - thanks for the tip! I'll go check him out! oh, I have nothing against japanese anime girls - they just aren't all that pleasing to me, and there's too many of them around now. I never bought any of them and won't. The GIRL ... well I think she has some potential for other things. :) I can't wait to use her with the non-realistic renderer in Carrara Studio. Should really be cool.

what exactly are you trying to do? I haven't used it for a lot of animation yet - I guess I better check that out a bit more. You do have to do your animating in Poser though - but it does come in as an object and I would think you could use physics and modifiers like most objects. ~she trots off to fool with that some now :)

Actually - right. I've never gotten an IM or an email from a member here thanking me for any of my freebies - not even the Vickie UV mapping for the Mayadoll. There was some nice things posted here soon after I released them, though. But I've gotten the most downloads here, and the least feedback. I did get a lot more thanks for them at 3dcommune, Renderotica, and Poser Pros though. ;) Maybe it's a culture thing. Also, DAZ has a freebies archive, and its back online again. I was able to pick up some cool stuff the other day. Thanks DAZ for getting that straightened out. :)

thanks Pengy! (I'm the Robin, for those who might not realise it) Riddokun - French is not my language either, but I think I understand you now. But I think you are waaay off thinking Anton was connecting Dutroux with Anton's arguing about Gooosens. Heck, I doubt Anton hears many (likely not any) news reports about Dutroux in the news-censored American media. The thought never crossed my mind, and I live in Germany - where the Dutroux case gets a lot more airplay. I'm right there with you people about the "Disneyfication" of the toon culture. It frankly pisses me off to see some of my American countrymen thinking they have to apply their Puritan moralisms to the entire world - which is I differed with when Anton brought this up. (but yanno, to Anton, its always a personal vendetta... dude, grab a mirror. Nobody is persecuting you here - some of us just disagreed with you. Get a grip.) The facts - listen the GIRL's body proportions are not based on a child - they are based on the work of the Belgian artist Dany. (Look ABOVE to my previous post) The GIRL is based on a long stylistic tradition of European Belgian hothouse flower toon girls. I'm quite frankly TIRED of Japanese anime girls, and quite delighted to see a nod to the European cartoon tradition. It is RARELY seen in the USA. NOW, onwards with the American cultural terrorism over the Toon culture. Cartoons used to be a lot racier in America, back in John Willie's day. McCarthyism stopped the culture in its tracks, and a ethics code was drawn up - I know there's a history about that somewheres... I gotta look it up.

Dean, what mods? I haven't seen a mod in this entire thread, yet. Anyway, I think its wound down. As far as my toon references are concerned. I made an error on the Little Annie Fanny - I was thinking about the takeoff from it - Oh Wicked Wanda - especially her sidekick Candyfloss. Annie Fanny was in Playboy - and yes it was a satire on Little Orphan Annie. ;) anyways, here's some links about both cartoons. http://www.toonopedia.com/anniefan.htm http://www.toonopedia.com/wanda.htm and this has loads of links to Dany comix http://www.bedetheque.com/index.php?S=157 nudity and mild eroticism (not worse than what you see in the gallery here) in these links - but they should provide you an understanding of what these comics look like. Now I'm really gone.

this link has one with better shader setup and HDRI lighting, C3. Good luck getting those gems to sparkle with the caustics (which do not exist in Poser) or refraction to work properly in Poser 5. ;)Thread: TransPoser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Carrara has one of the best renderers in the biz. And it is inexpensive. And it is reliable. P5 has a habit of always crashy crashy on big renders, and its dead slow - Carrara lets me get the stuff done quicker. Saving time is also important. And not crashing during a render is even more important. If you want to see Poser renders in Carrara - just go to my gallery. You do need to tweak the skin shaders a bit, I'm not totally pleased with how they come in with Transposer. You can change them though, like you can in Vue.Thread: Are Poser females in the community getting to young?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I mean Little Annie Fanny not Orphan Annie... sorry it is late here - or early. have a nice day. Or sleep well. I think I won't be around for any more of these witchhunt threads - this one was just too much now that I know what the character is actually based on. Do research next time, before starting a big to-do about nothing.

There's been too much of that in this thread. A thread about a "child-like" character which is clearly based on the proportions of characters from a famous soft-porn comic artist. Dany, from Belgium. Sorry - I do find that very ironic. If I show my boyfriend this thread, I doubt he'd stop laughing for the next hour. I mean - this stuff is really famous! It is like having a hissy fit over the child-like implications of the Penthouse comic character "Little Orphan Annie". I expect this character to be popular amongst many of my Renderotica comrades. Signing off.

Attached Link: TinTin Magazine - some nudity and adult situations
Scroll down in the link and you'll find the author's work that inspired the G.I.R.L. (Dany - Daniel Henrotin) Be warned - there is some adult situations if you pursue the link to Dany Henrotin. Round my parts nobody cares about that - but around American parts I guess it does. Hence why I have not linked directly to Henrotin's bio. At least I found a reference in English to this magazine. Really famous stuff around these parts - I guess if I was to bring up this topic amongst my art friends in Munich - they'd laugh about Americans and their silly Puritanisms. Gads... I try not to imitate that too much, you guys embarrass me when I have to interact with people like Riddokun! *g* No wonder I saw some parallel in John Willie's work - the model is based on realistic European comics from the 60s - some of which were adult.Thread: Are Poser females in the community getting to young?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, Goossens is from Belgium. No, I didn't forget about Marc Dutroux either. :/ Honestly, that connection had not occurred to me.

I agree - XENOPHONZ is a light in the general darkness here. Another light - thanks to this topic - I got more interested in finding out more about Goossens and his inspiration for the model, and how he created her. To quote Goossens from CGChannel - this is his inspiration. *I love creating girls but I was beginning to get bored by the macho warrior type of girl characters created these days, or the pure sex babes (granted, sometimes really well mastered). I wanted to see how far I could go in creating a sensual girl. I was also always fascinated by how some girls can be really seductive simply with subtle poses, and movements. I wanted to create a girl that would touch you emotionally when you saw her. Her design is based on a girl friend I know in Antwerp (no names, no pictures, sorry). I did a lot of research watching movies, and analyzing my own feelings towards what I saw in my surroundings. Drawings of cartoon characters and photos of models constituted my general inspiration for creating her. I was largely inspired by the general proportions of Dany (Daniel Henrotin)* -- also another bright light - looking at the rigging of the GIRL showed me some solutions I may be able to utilise in my work creating a biped skeletal rig for my Poser characters in Carrara Studio. I'm a bit tired of having to use the different programs all the time to create a render, so I've been working on moving more and more of the Poser stuff I've bought - over to Carrara native characters and props. That includes characters like Vickie, etc. I've gotten very far with rigging V2 (and will move on to V3 and other unimesh models after that) and noticed Kim had a very similar setup that I've been developing in Carrara! Amazing! Looks like that page is going to help me a bit with optimising the armpits - all this adversity in an odd way has been a kind of gold, if one chooses to see it that way. adios people!Thread: Are Poser females in the community getting to young?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yep XENOPHONZ - I don't buy it either. I don't know everything by any means - but I know enough now to know I do not want to know any more about the internal goings-on at DAZ. This really looks to me like a work dispute, masquerading as a moralistic crusade. I don't like moralistic crusades in the first place - but disingenuous ones really sicken me. I can say one thing - I think I may actually buy this toon character now, thanks to this thread. I had originally thought I would not - like you, toons are not generally my thing. I changed my mind after going through my old stash of John Willie vintage art reproductions, and realised the character's similarities. :) A few good morphs, some nice clothing and props - and I think she'd fit the bill nicely.
