Hot?Maybe I ought to try for an image, lest the poetic spirit overcomes my good manners and more haiku (or gasp limericks) emerge from the keyboard. Anything has to be better than the hot dog haiku I wrote for another challenge a long summer ago.

Good selections, all, and congratulations to the winner. Via Regia is classy and the light source is accurate.
Sorry that I missed the voting, but I now have a new monitor. It is one of those flat screen thingies (I miss real pixels!). After 10 years, the old one had lost the entire lower range and much color, so perhaps this will be an improvement after all. (Hey, you don't want me voting if I can't see half your image, right?)

Well, I didn't get to finish my space goddess amid streaming stars image. (I have houseguests coming and a sick cat as well as the migraine, so things are a bit distracted) *sigh*However, it doesn't appear that this image was ever submitted to a contest or challenge, so I'm going to pop it in over the transom and under the wire.
STARSEED
Maybe if more poems and stories were submitted, the guys in the Writer's Forum would join us again? Follow the link to the only sonnet I've ever written.

eek!
I wish I'd peeked into the forum earlier, since this is a great theme for me personally.
We do have plenty of fine entries, so even if I don't get something new pulled together this weekend, there is a good challenge. :)

We've got a new theme... for April/May... and here is the link to it in case the linkydink doesn't work:http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2736998
Should be interesting, especially for those of us who usually try to be in bed by then! ;^)

Viv,Given the other deadlines this month, taking the pressure off is perhaps a Good Thing.
Stormchaser,
Congratulations! And don't worry too hard about a broad topic: no matter what the theme, we'll push the borders of it. Given what happened with hot dogs, I think we can handle anything. ;)

April/May?
It depends upon the theme!
Something floral or spring-like or dealing with birth and growth would be suitable across the months, but "April Fools" and "April Showers" and "April is the Cruelest Month" are too specific, despite being good themes.

OK, my votes...
Exquisite work... and that car is so isolated that there isn't even a track of a road back to civilization.
I live with a constant migraine, and pain isolates a person by keeping them from being fully human and in the human community... especially if the source of the pain isn't obvious. The red skeleton conveys this effectively working with the words.
The poem is very strong. Even in a shared bed, you can be alone.
Atlas is definitely a solitary figure, with the weight of the world at war on his shoulders. Yet he still stands upright. He doesn't just drop the ball and walk back to his buddies.
A very nice showing all around with many good entries.

Anybody who is a member of Renderosity can vote.
We usually don't vote for our own entries. On occasion there have only been 2-3 entries, and to avoid the embarrassment of having to vote for our own work, we come to an agreement... like declaring us all winners and a group decision on the next month's challenge.
Because, after all, getting something finished and entered is a victory for many of us.

I'd wanted to make a poem about the Phoenix Triumphant to balance all those who think that solitary = sad, but only have phrases, not a sound structure.
I find it somewhat amazing that with all these entries we have no lighthouse-keepers, hermits, guardians, or champions in the Irish mode (alone on the bridge, causeway, ford) or anybody on solitary quest or vigil. Perhaps this speaks of modern sensibilities, where everybody has a cellphone glued to their ear, even in a crowd, and being disconnected is devastating.

evielouis,
Are you clicking on the first link... the one to view the message?
Also, the ebots are often odd. For example, the ebot saying that you'd posted was sent when you posted, but I was still on site and had already seen your message. If I hadn't come to check, I'd have missed the ones that were posted after it.
ebots have always had problems here, but it is still the best way to find out if a thread is active.
My cat is calling, so I'd better go see what she wants... but do wish to say that I'm thrilled at all the entries pouring in! :)

**evielouise,
Look at the top of the sidebar (mine is on the right). There ought to be a label saying "Member Links" and right under that is one saying "Site Mail". Click on Site Mail. Recent notes are on the top of the list... click on the message, not the sender, to read them.
HTH,

stormchaser,
Sure, go ahead and enter it. The "prize" is getting to choose the next month's theme. The theme can range from silly to sublime. I remember the summer that somebody chose "hotdogs"!!! I entered 5 haiku and someone modeled a hotdog and there may even have been an overheated pooch amid the barbecue scenes. Theme such as "Dignity" or "Peace" might inspire something a bit loftier in the way of artistic accomplishment.
The real prize is actually finishing something that's been in the folders or using an item that we bought 3 years ago! *:chuckle:
*TheBryster,
New work is encouraged, but the rules allow for older pieces. If I've used something for one challenge, I won't reuse it for another (my personal decision), but might link to encourage others. A few months ago, we had "Chaos" as a theme. I'd done an image representing the butterfly effect far earlier for a different challenge. I wrote a minitut on how the effect was achieved, because randomness is really hard to create, and just linked to it as an example. Other times I've used previously created work. The pine I'm entering now was photographed in the early 70s (it died in 1976, during our drought), and I inked it when living in Coarsegold (1982-86). I'd have to check my records to see what year it was copyrighted, since the half-brain is a bit fuzzy. (I am disabled with a permanent migraine.) For this contest, I've scanned and cleaned and framed it so it lives again.

Sharen... hi! (and thank you again for the holiday goodies!!!)
We should have until the end of the month or thereabouts. If folks need a bit longer to finish something, Tresamie is accommodating. The goal is to inspire us to actually make something, after all.
We can post links to the gallery or smaller images in the thread. Since the thread image size is only 200 kb, I'll often do both... gallery size with link, and something smaller here so voters have a reminder without having to hunt everywhere.
Given the typical 3d artist, I'm surprised that we haven't had a naked singularity entered yet. I might have to write a limerick. ;^)
